Caustic

Caustic is like a gnat that won't stop buzzing in your ear, especially if that gnat is a big loud bald dude with a drinking problem blasting relentless distorted dance beats into your skull. Started in 2002 by Madison, WI's Matt Fanale, Caustic has built a surprisingly impressive grassroots fanbase with his combination of unpredictable, anarchic live shows (generally accompanied by The Gothsicles on live duties) and DIY fuck-all attitude.

Caustic has put out a prolific amount of music in the last few years and has performed coast to coast in the U.S., as well as in the sold-out Infest Festival in the U.K. Caustic has been on bills with everyone from Apoptygma Berzerk to Combichrist, and from Grendel to some other band I'm name dropping to try and impress you. Are you still even reading? Seriously? Huh. Well, y'know, thanks for that. Um, don't do drugs and stay in school...or something. And don't burn bums.

Gothsicles

The duo of darkNES and :EYG: deliver a searing mix of electro/punk with lyrical topics exploring the range of all things geeky, a combination that the band has dubbed "Nintendustrial/EB-Mulator." With their very costumes baring accoutrements of the original Nintentdo, from belt buckles made of the controllers to darkNES' Power Glove, and songs like "One Second Ghost" and "Konami Code IV," complete with video projections featuring montages of various Nintendo and Atari games from the early '80s, The Gothsicles are this scene's answer to nerdcore; watching them, one can almost expect MC Chris to step up from backstage to contribute to the band's raucous show. They even take a self-deprecating look at the goth/industrial culture with "So You've Decided to Become a Goth" and "I Can Tell You Shop (At Hot Topic)" as the projections feature many luminaries of the scene and even their own geeky natures with "Hey, I've Got that Font." Shouting out his vocals with dramatic fervor, darkNES jumps on and off the stage, dancing with the audience at various times, truly breaking the invisible wall that seems to exist between spectator and performer at so many shows. THE FUNNEST SHOW YOU WILL SEE IN A LONG TIME!!!

Prometheus Burning

Prometheus Burning is a female fronted, genre-bending Electro-Industrial band, focusing on experimental vocal structures, aggressive beats, complex rhythms, dark atmospherics, and glitched out electronic noise.

Their "cut-n-paste" lyrical style is cryptic but coherent, painting pictures in the minds eye of their listeners. Every song seems to contain a story, a clue, a piece of a much larger puzzle, often referencing the occult, chaos magick, transhumanistic philosophy, and cyberpunk ideals.

Inspired by the early Industrial acts of their youth such as Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Download, Pyschic TV, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, Frontline Assembly, and Front 242, Prometheus Burning was created to keep the flame alive. Since 1999 they have been crafting an ever evolving, emotional, experimental, and harsh sound true to the roots of Industrial, yet innovative and expressive enough to push the envelope in a post-Industrial musical era.

Detroit's Split Horizon combines elements of breakcore, noise, techno, and electro providing a strong statement for the intertwining of ideas and music.

Yeah it's going to be a good show and if you've never seen Prometheus Burning you're inf or a treat as they are EXCELLENT too. Split Horizon should be a perfect opener. The tracks I've heard from them should go over well live.

See ya there.

From what Matt (Caustic) has said all 3 bands will be touring on new releases!!! So yeah expect to see new material from all 3 of em!!! Meant to play a few promo tracks from the forthcoming Caustic CD last Wednesday @ Dead-Line and forgot. Sounds good and really like the Modulate remix. Remind me next Wednesday when we're hanging.

I don't think I've ever seen you laugh much, but I predict we'll see a lot of laughter out of you during the Gothsicles set.

And hey laughter is a good thing!

goth #1: I'm so goth the smile muscles in my face have atrophied.

Say what? The Psyclon Nine track made the Sons of Midnight version look weak (of course the original did that too but still). That's one I can't wait to hear, you should play that when I'm not DJ'ing.

Also a message to everyone while I'm thinking of it. GET US YOUR REQUESTS!

There will be a sheet there to write them down on too. However be sure to write legibly so we can read it. Or just tell us the track and we'll write it down in the playlist so we don't forget.

No worries but, I think Scary Guy meant, bring your request to Dead-Line. Been lots of chatter over there about the night. This post is pretty much about the It Aint Dead Yet Tour stop at Smalls, the bands playing there and the new releases they have forthcoming.
