It's seasonal baked-goods time! Here is the receipt for my famous "1-2-3 Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies." So EASY, and SO GOOD!!!! Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together: 1 c. peanut butter 1/4 c. softened butter 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar Add: 1 c. boiling water STIR.. Then add: 2 c. Bisquick Baking Mix STIR.. Then add: 1 c. Quaker Quick Oats 1 large egg 1/2 t. cinnamon Mix all ingredients well. Shape dough into rolls with plastic wrap. Chill until firm. Cut into rounds off of roll, about 1/2 inch thick. Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes, until browned and set. Note: This dough also freezes extremely well. I also use this basic recipe for Jam Thumbprint cookies. Just make a divot in the unbaked cookies with your thumb, and add your favorite jam before baking. These cookies are really good, I promise.

I'm feeling very, very spoiled and special. The Sarge is sending me a package of naughty things, for when he comes home next month. I just wish I didn't have to wait for so long..! Still pissed about the roof-- but one of my associates is coming to temporarily fix it with a tarp and sandbags, tomorrow afternoon. That doesn't fix my inability to go out tonight, though. Out of this horrible rainy day, one good thing has come to me; a mature female Platycryptus undatus!! My uncle showed up with some food, toilet paper, kitty litter, and a load of wood earlier. While I was tossing the wood out so he could stack it (in the pouring rain), I noticed a very wet little jumping spider in the bed of his truck! Of course, "Elmira" here went running to find something to put her in! I'm so stoked about this spider!! This is the first one of this particular species I've ever seen here. I'm assuming she hitched a ride all the way from Pontiac, as that is where the wood came from. I will photograph her the next sunny day, when I have some good lighting.

ABSOLUTELY LIVID at my ex. He promised to bring a ladder over here three days ago, so I could fix my leaky skylight. Now, here I sit with a fucking turkey roaster pan on my counter. It isn't catching the entire leak. My counter is SOAKED, and the floor is getting there. I REFUSE to use all the clean towels I've worked so hard to wash the old fashioned way. Looks like I'm not going to CC tonight, as I have to babysit this leak. I hate him, I hate him, I hate him-- for being so fickle and irresponsible. He has made my choosing between two guys VERY easy, this time. I don't care if I ever fucking see him ever again. I'm fucking STARVING. I haven't eaten since two nights ago. The bills got every bit of my cash this week, and I am absolutely fucked. I don't know how I'm even going to work this evening, being this hungry. My mind isn't right when I go without eating, as I am hypoglycemic. I keep trying not to think about it, but its difficult not to while I am puking bloody acid. This means my ulcer is back. Yay. When Opilionids are juvenile, their legs are shorter, so they appear more spider-like. The one you saw was most likely a female, as they are much larger and stouter than the males. This is the time of year for them to mate, so you will probably be seeing many more. Harvestmen can regenerate lost limbs. I have actually seen one with only two legs crawling about, and the rest beginning to grow back as small buds at the joints. This can come in handy, after a narrow escape! P.S. Slow worms are TOO COOL! Very interesting how the young are born directly from the female, as the eggs hatch inside her oviduct. This is unusual in lizards. They are also able to automize (lose their tail and regrow it), like many other lizard species. Their numbers are decreasing in Great Britain, so they are now under protection. We have a few species of legless lizards here in the states, but most live in warm places, such as California and Florida.
