  1. Getting Christmas shopping started already. Got two of these bad boys at one hell of a discount. One for each kid.
  2. My passion for culinary dishes has been returning, rather slowly, but still coming back none the less. (3 full time kitchen jobs for a whole year will burn you out). Where now I am starting to want to cook instead of feeling obligated to cook. Last night was tacos. Not the most impressive dish to fix up, but pretty good for a work night especially since I do my own seasoning mix. No pictures, but aside from the seasoned beef, I diced Roma tomatoes, chopped Romain lettuce, sliced black olives, and actually minced a small shallot and crushed garlic clove to the beef instead of using garlic and onion powder. I'll eventually replace the chili and cumin powder with actual chilis and cumin. No Jalapeno yet, kids won't like the heat, but soon enough. Going to do a roast beef this Sunday. It's been a while since I did one of those.
  3. Exhausted. Couldn't get to sleep until well past 11 last night, and things made me get up a bit earlier than normal today. Hell at least I had time for a shower, so there's that. But fuuuck it's only Thursday and I'm already feeling like Sloth, everything is a bother today.
  4. It gets better. Like sorry to post a fucking TikTok link here, I do think it's just as bad (if not worse) than YouTube for a source of information. However it does summarize tidbits of facts that are easily googled if someone really wants to. But the Republican party is practically bankrupt. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8LX7wMn/
  5. We're not bitching at or about you, just telling you the spectrum has changed. And I can't even use myself as an example because I'm in unusually good circumstances despite my income. A lot of it was planning and patience, and some of it was luck. But most of it isn't available to the majority of people. The wait list for my apartments is long. No it's not section 8, or any subsidized living. It's just a cheap podunk place but it's safe and quiet. $555 rent, add my 2 cats, $595 rent. That's the biggest flex I have honestly. Cheap and safe. Now for renter's insurance? Being a vet pays off every once in a while. I signed up with USAA back when I served, so while everyone else has to pay upwards of $150-$200 annually for renter's insurance, I only pay $5.69 annually. My car? I stacked and saved and bought flat out, no payments. (Also means I can skip insurance and only pay for a month when it's time to get my tags renewed then cancel for only $65) the auto insurance here is fucking ridiculous. Yeah I got EBT, and it does help keep food on the table. I also got daycare assistance which allows me to actually have a full time job. Anything extra I am able to save goes straight to my investments and savings. My situation is a golden anomaly. I wouldnt be able to survive the cost anywhere else honestly. It's horrible out there. $60k wouldn't even be able to cover it. $80k would BARELY cover it. And last I checked, barely able to make ends meet is t middle class rich. It's upper poverty levels. Your charts are horrible sources of information. You gotta know and understand the ACTUAL cost of living to have a better grip on what's rich and what's poor.
  6. SG, I'm aware of what a neet is, and I was trying to not flat out say that. However even though you have been paying attention, you haven't really. You lost touch with what everyday people endure, the ones who could never seem to be able to afford a house and must rent, the ones with no support. Also, I'm not a Dink. I would LOVE that idea, but at this moment me and my kids have an incredibly peaceful life and I don't see anyone who is able to help maintain that peace without some stupid drama, but that's another issue for another post. 100k is barely even shit anymore. Look at the average rent prices, insurances (auto, and home/renters) electric, gas, garbage, water, taxes, food, etc. It's all insane. For those of us living in this world, just take our word for it, 60k is practically the new poverty level. That's NOT rich by any means. You're getting dangerously close to boomer thoughts thinking 60k is rich.
  7. I haven't played this game in ages. Though my favorite start word was audio as it had almost all the vowels to start with.
  8. I think we start with more of the old crew, get the posting momentum going up a bit more, then recruit at clubs perhaps?
  9. Or you know, one could simply (I can't believe I'm saying this) get a job and see $60,000 annually ain't shit.
  10. Oof. Know how that goes. I hope he can get someone to talk to. That might be a result of feeling unheard? Just a shit in the dark, I don't know beyond what posted. I've had and seen my moments of throwing dirty laundry onto social media for a variety of reasons. I'm feeling weirdly on edge and vigilant. Like something fucky is about to happen. Can't tell if it's PTSD or my odd 6th sense.. but my guard is up. God I hope I'm not turning into Mr. Lahey... "You hear that, Randy? The way the shit whistles in the air? We're about to have a shit tornado, Bobandy!"
  11. I'm thinking if any of you fuckers get knocked up, you NEED to invite me to your next baby shower for my food ideas I get off Facebook.
  12. This. Not to sound cold to anyone. But BPD and narcissist are known for never getting their shit together enough to stop mistreating people. Save yourself the heartache.
  13. Agreed. I still am sore about Hillary though. It honestly should have been Bernie. I really think the DNC did pull something incredibly fucky to push her over Bernie. How do you logic all those people taking the time and energy to go see him over Hillary by an incredibly large difference then say they didn't bother to vote in the primaries. That math doesn't math at all.
  14. Likewise. I still count myself as gen x, but have grown to dislike republicans/conservatives more and more as I get older for the kinda fascist company they keep within their ranks.
  15. Watching political leaning per generation (posted the charts in another thread) everyone from millennial and younger is growing less conservative in their votes as they age as opposed to the usual grow more conservative as you age trend from gen x and older. And these charts are a few years old back when gen z was JUST starting to hit voting age. Millenials +Gen Z actually outnumber the boomers (silent generation has been dropping like flies). I really don't see Republicans winning the oval office, especially if it's with Trump or DeSantis. I also have doubts they'll hold all their seats in the senate. They might keep the house, but hey ya never know. But by 2026, I think they'll lose the house too if they haven't already. I see the republican party splintering into other parties after this. just my speculations. Even with Biden, they don't stand a chance imo.
  16. It's their own hatred that did it. If not Facebook, it would have been a tried and true go to for an excuse like religion, etc. Also sorry for your weaponize harassment over Rick and Morty. It's not just liberals doing that (whatever that word even means any more) but look back to all the things conservative Christians have tried to cancel from Harry Potter to Starbucks. And even other far off wing nuts trying to cancel target and Budweiser. It's everywhere but if you're on true neutral grounds to be able to see it without a bias (if possible) it really looks like the non conservatives just copy and use the whole cancel culture thing from the conservatives. Get enough shit flung at you, you start to pick it up and fling it back so to say.
  17. Jess, I want to share something with you but it needs to be in private. I'll tell you what happened to my family at some point today, I'm just at work.
  18. I particularly don't like the divide amongst us all but at the same time I know it can't be helped. And I think it runs so much deeper than just Facebook. It's ALWAYS been there in the form of various prejudices. Racism, classism, religion, etc. Facebook just simply capitalized on it to a point where it just can't be quietly ignored any longer. Some of our lives were made absolute hell from this. The treatment my wife and I got due to her being an immigrant was fucking appalling. Add on her mental illness further used as an excuse to torment and punish her to suicide. Never again will I tolerate such hateful opinions. I've seen the receiving end of the polarization that's been there all along. It's not just 'polite" political differences, and I don't think it ever has been. It's been violent hatred using the law and law enforcement as a weapon to exercise such prejudice. How common is it to find groups of white supremacy running police? It's there, and has been for some time. This polarization was born from fascist hatred that's always been plaguing this country. And I'll hate them right back. Fuck them. And yes I wish they would suffer their own medicine. Let their ways drive their family members to suicide, and let it make those members who believe such ways be treated like a criminal. Let them be failed so hard that they HAVE to cheat the system that's rigged against them from the start. And let some loud mouthed clueless Karen obnoxiously poorshame and report them. Let them get kicked into the dirt just as harshly and coldly as they kicked others into the dirt. This is something I do feel strongly about to the point where even if you're not prejudice as a conservative (which to me is an impossibility) you Stan and tolerate that hate for their votes, you Stan and tolerate candidates like Trump, DeSantis, McConnel, Gaetz, MTG, etc. because your shitty views wouldn't survive without that fascist support. And it's an extra kick in the nuts that the only possible other option immediately are the Dems. I don't see this country getting out of this without a fight (violent revolution, riots, civil war, or something similar) We could have so much better if we stuff this conservative hate machine and all it's excuses and enablers in a box and just drop it off a cliff.
  19. Trying to scheme a side hustle as if I even have the time.
  20. It's this moment, right here, right now, that a critical choice must be made to keep the ones who supported you in your circle and lock the door on everyone who made it difficult. Don't rush into anything else. But I feel this mood. I've been here a number of times. Be selective of who you let in. It won't help immediately other than not letting it get even worse.
  21. I actually got sleep last night. 10 hours actually. Still exhausted but that plus no work today or tomorrow actually has me feeling alright.
  22. QoF, this hits home why I prefer being alone. The control and anger. I hate that in people. Drinking too. Way back in 2005-2007 between the Marines and army I was out of control but never abusive. Being in situations that required me to depend on people to just get controlled and used made me get drunk and act out worse. Being a parent is a hard push against my natural spirit too as I have to exercise SOME levels of control on them to prevent them from hurting themselves or others, and it's exhausting to me. I hate the idea of controlling or being controlled. I am sorry your man is having a hard time understanding you. It sounds like he is having some struggles with his own demons too. I truly hope the best for both of you. I hope you two can get on some common understanding to help improve your situation in life. Having friends at a distance has always helped me. There's a safety in being separated by distance, but it has its hindrances too. True they can't come over and take their own personal dysfunctions out on you, but they can't really help either. But for what it's worth there is emotional support in that style of friendship. Even by proxy like on these forums, someone always seems to understand someone else on here. I wish I knew more to actually offer some solid advice to flip your settings to be more in your favor. But for what it's worth you're not exactly alone. None of us are in the same identical boats, but we all seem to be floating down shit creek together regardless.
