SOMETHING COLD Presents: YOU. LP Release Party
DJDeadbeat replied to DJDeadbeat's topic in Nightlife, Events & Concerts
Rev can vouch for this, the Cave Gallery is CRAZY. There is a brothel next door, as we discovered. The ladies from the brothel were coming into to see what our party was like, and vice versa for us. It was weird. Bikers came in on their motorcycles and drove thru the halls and into the brothel. But the Cave is great, its an adventure to find it! -

Deathrock, for example, has become a fashion indulged scene. And most of the goth scene for the most part. Its more important about how nice your deathhawk looks or how properly torn up your fishnet tights are verses how unique your musical afterbirth is from the unremembered 80's.

Non Talented Overplayed bands that You Cannot Stand

I disagree with Wolfsheim and CS. -
Got a lot of good stuff there cheap. I hope they just re-open, perhaps in a smaller scale in the city of Detroit. All of that cheap leasing, take advantage, Detroit needs more record stores. UHF just opened in Royal Oak, record stores close, record stores open! UHF ain't too shabby either.

Thanks Saint, everyone did fantastic! Definitely a great night in a great place. Good thing about minimal-synth is analog synths sound timeless, regardless of recording date. Huzzah. My sets were about 50/50 old-new. Saw people dancing to Glass Candy, as they should be!

I WANNA KNOW. I'll be DJing there with Scary on the 16th. I love the Northern Lights Lounge. I booked Bell Hollow there when I wasn't even old enough to legally get in. huzzah.

Last.fm is INCREDIBLY useful for discovering music. If you like something already, it can point you in similar directions and plus it gives you a little insight on most music too. From other fans or write ups.

HEY, MY EVENT. Something Cold is co-working with the Crofoot to put this on. EVERYONE COME THE FUCK OUT. ZOLA JESUS is the endeavor of a solitary girl named Nika Roza Danilova to simultaneously combat and invoke the approaching apocalypse using the only weapon/offering she has; her voice. After a decade of opera study and a musical awakening involving such varied inspiration as Billboard bubblegum, classical arias, no wave, avant industrial, she was able to thread her influences into a sound uniquely her own. Born and raised in the ...backwoods of Wisconsin, Nika Roza was literally raised by wolves (well proximally anyways). Trained as an opera singer from a young age, she applied to Julliard. At 10 years old. Rejection didn't slow her down though as she went on to complete high school in three years and is set to graduate from university with a double major in French and philosophy in the same amount of time. Fans and critics alike seemed rabid for new material ever but none of them were quite prepared for the massive pop-ness of her new EP on Sacred Bones, Stridulum. Recording her vocals for the first time with professional instruments, Nika's voice is brought to the powerful forefront of the mix unleashing the full range of emotions that had only been hinted at in her previous work. No longer just the doomsday soothsayer, Nika refines her soulful psalms creating songs equally nurturing as foreboding. With special guests TURN TO CRIME (Derek Awesome Color's solo drone rock tunes), THE WIRE EYES, and SOMETHING COLD DJs.
