  1. for me, its not a diet, its a way of eating. "diet", to me, means something is missing, and I don't feel like I'm missing anything. lol its easier to eat the right thing... Don't forget, folks, things that are low in barbs/sugar (made that they are low, as compared to the same product with the carbs in it) usually has more cholesterol, so you have to be careful in what you get. I will say it again: the best way to keep your body from retaining water is to drink more. (and to drink a little more if you eat something particularly salty......) a tip my mom picked up from working at a weight loss clinic, (clinic, meaning your weight loss was closely monitored by a Dr, and a team of nurses--my mom is a nurse) is this: drink 8, 8 oz glasses of water a day. (duh) but for every 10lbs you are over weight, drink and additional 8 oz. (its been proven to work) oh yes, and if you are drinking the proper amount of water, your lips and skin won't be as dry either. and with this MI weather, dry skin seems to be prevalent. I agree with you there. unflavored water is best... BUT if you have to have something... adding real lemon juice (as in from a real lemon) is a natural diuretic. and helps to curb appetite. when one's mother gets involved in nutrition, one tends to learn a lot, especially when she's been at it for like 10 years or so. lmao oh yeah, I'm def not an exerciser. lol I'm def going to be starting a yoga regime, and looking up things to do (other than crunches) that will go with the large exercise ball we have. I also have some elastic bands (for exercising), so I'm going to incorporate those, as well. I'm with HunHee on that one... congratulations. any weight loss is a milestone, even if its not been a while since you lost...
  2. who's my smizmar? "you are" ^_^

  3. a little disappointed (with myself), but otherwise good... VERY happy, that I may be getting my laptop fixed in the next week or so!!!! (yay! I'll have a mac, and its a laptop!!! yay for late night journal keeping!!!)
  4. its good to see that any off topic comments are in good humor, and not bashing us fatties. lol I'd rather it be light and funny, than mean and condescending. lol and I'm being serious, and I'm not trying to call out the off topic stuff. lol it keeps things fun, and makes me want to come back to see what everyone's saying lol on a lighter note, I think I'll start organizing my room, and getting together stuff to sell. i have so much crap to do, I will definitely get a cardio workout. lol i have started to drink more fluids, and since i started back eating the whole wheat foods, i have become... more regular. I do notice a difference in my body when I eat foods that I'm not supose to eat. meaning anything I can't break down properly, like the high carbs and sugars. I feel weak, and my mood is icky. i feel LOTS better, when i eat what I'm suppose to. needless to say, i was kinda miserable this holiday season, because there wasn't much I could safely eat. and I wasn't about to go hungry. I'd rather go through a couple meals not eating right, than go hungry. NOT eating is worse than eating the bad, cuz then your body goes into store mode, and you hang on to everything that goes in there. lol but I'm being more strict than i was before. and as soon as I get my sleep pattern back to normal, I'm going back on the meds, so I don't sleep through the morning and miss the morning dose. only thing I hate is I have to eat a large meal, when I take it, or it makes me super light headed. lol (I'd rather eat small snacks to curb my hunger rather than eat til I'm full in one meal...) but whatever. it works, and it helps. and when I get back on it, no more alcohol for me. anyways... lol oh I just thought of something. when the snow goes away, and i can maybe get a bike, or some roller blades, I can zoom up and down north territorial back and forth, cuz the road is long... they fly up and down the road, but they do have the courtesy to drive around. They'd have to if I had on something bright yellow and really reflective. lol or they will have to suffer the wrath of day glow yellow... or orange. lmao... or dare i say it.... day glow pink! lmao
  5. fine... silly skirt. that doesn't sound quite as good as "silly pants" and I know it is... try doing it with a straw bristled broom...

  7. dissapointed... I have a laptop, but it needs a hard drive... and some other things too. lol it needs to be looked at, but our computer guy is going out of town for an undetermined amount of time. :(
  8. silly slogo. lol well, just follow the tips here, and you'll do fine. lol one thing you may want to consider is to cut back on the alcohol. (and no I'm not implying you drink too much... beer and coctails, and malt liquors, and whatever else, is loaded with sugars and carbs. and I'm going to take my own advice and not drink anymore, at CC... )
  9. like my eye-lids are heavy.... :( I think I'ma go take a nap
  10. a hard drive for a Mac PowerBook... i got the entire laptop, minus the hardrive... ugh... any help? lol
  11. @ Chernobyl: this goes deeper than wanting to lose weight. I HAVE to eat a certain way, because I am insulin resistant. I can't eat certain foods, because my body CAN'T break it down and use it for energy. SO i have to rely on dieting. Exercise is good and all, but if I don't eat a certain way, I'll weigh 300 lbs and still be able to run 6 miles in 15 mins. besides, I've done the walking thing, and all that happened was my calves got HUGE!!! so I'm in the middle of finding what works for me.... Edit to add: while I find what works, I'm not just sitting.. we have an exercise ball, and I have been doing crunches on that... works the ass too, cuz you gotta keep that damn thing stable. lol
  12. ugh... I can't believe I'm still gaining!!!! guess its time to go back to being strait edge. No more alcohol for me. lol and If I do drink it, vodka and cranberry juice... oh well... not like i need the stuff anyways... I haven't gone overboard, but I have just been drinking... I use to not really drink at all... *sigh* I'm not upset about the alcohol. (well, maybe just a little... it sucks feeling left out... just my high school way of thinking i guess--i don't even drink to get drunk anymore. I did a couple times... the rest, just one or two drinks, at most....) i have gotten rid of foods not on my list (Like regular potato chips... those things will be the death of me... ) If the brand of tortilla chips I liked made a salt and vinegar flavor... OMG, I'd never leave the house. lol Thank goodness for flavored cream cheese... (which I should probably switch to a light version of those, as well...) i know what I have to do, I know what i AM doing... why am I still GAINING weight! damnit! its all so very frustraiting... oh, and I have a loft bed, now, so I'm constantly climbing up and down my bed to go to the bath room, ect... I'm not getting as much sleep since my roomy got a job, because I have to tend to the pigs. if/when I get one, I'll have to make sure the house if pig proof... erg.. so I am running after them all day.... so its not like I'm sitting on my ass all day, doing nothing... I'm moving... and its cold in here, so I'm always moving some part of me...
  13. You all should know my story... with having PCOS, I CAN'T eat certain foods.... <---clicking will take you to the thread.... This is my chart, from the same site that I got my weight loss ticker from, in my signature. My Weight Chart: I monitor what's called Glycemic Index. <--clicky I also watch carbs and cholesterol, as well... you HAVE to watch your cholesterol when starting a lower carb (notice i didn't say "carb free" I, who's body can't process a lot of carbs, don't count them out completely, because the body needs GOOD CARBS to function), diet, because food manufacturers like to add more cholesterol in a desperate fit to make stuff taste better. so you'll be a skinny mini, but you'll still die of a heart attack at 30... 0.o incorporating things like nuts, and leafy greens, switching to an artificial sweetener, or even just cutting back on the real stuff will help. I personally use the splenda/sugar blend, because it tastes better in coffee and teas, though with they way things are going, I'm going to go back to using Sweet N' Low. Also, if you are going to limit your food intake, you may want to think about taking a "One-A-Day" (and they have all kinds, so read the labels!!!!! and talk to that DR!!!!!) taking things like white bread and rice out of your diet will help. there is no actual nutritional reason to eat bread. if you gots to eat it, eat whole wheat, or multi-grain (I cannot find one that doesn't put grains on the top of the loaf.. ugh!!! i hate crunchy stuff in my bread, so I try to stick to wheat. ) I know our adult bodies aren't designed to process most dairy foods, which is why eating too much cheese clogs the pipes, but eating more dairy in your diet (as opposed to none.) is good for you. Eating a good, low sugar yogurt is good for the pipes. Activia isn't the only kind that will help regulate your system.... its just companies wanting you to spend more money. stupid companies... lol Fish!!! eat fish, and chicken... red meats of all kinds takes longer to digest. and word to the wise? eating steak and potatoes when trying to loose lbs is a HUGE no no... what happens when you eat beef and potatoes together, is the two enzymes in your stomach that break those things down, end up "eating' each other... so it takes a LONG time for that dinner to digest... plus, beef/steak/ect., is the leading cause of colon issues down the line, because not all of it is gotten rid of out of those pipe. a tip my mom picked up from working at a weight loss clinic, (clinic, meaning your weight loss was closly monitored by a Dr, and a team of nurses--my mom is a nurse) is this: drink 8, 8 oz glasses of water a day. (duh) but for ever 10lbs you are over weight, drink and additional 8 oz. Oh yeah! Apple Cider Vinegar!!!! <---clicky Edit: to add more.
  14. like my head is splitting wide open.... proud of TheGimp, for following through with his suspension
  15. mineral oil makes a good regular lube, too, not just to unclog the valves of the body. anyways... How I Am Feeling: a little annoyed. and because of said event, we will have only 3 hours to move all the big stuff.... anxious. I'll be moving furniture. the last time I did that, I ended up with a broken toe... tired... my tummy is urgling at me, from the dinner i ate last night, and the leftovers I had today... excited I'll be able to spend the night with my sweetie, and then go to Circus Obscene with my bestfriend, and then a concert the next day, and No Resolve will be one of the bands performing. ^_^
