I had an amazing time up at Michigan Tech in U.P on Friday night! A wonderful crowd of enthusiastic people and fantastic hosts who really went out of their way to show me a good time. Also made me realize how big of wimps we are about the cold and snow. Snow drifts twice as tall as myself put things in perspective. After being passed on the highway by people on snow mobiles a 3-1 ratio to cars up there 36 degrees tomorrow seems downright balmy.

I left Houghton/Hancock at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning to make it to the Necto at 10:08 p.m. to work the front door for opening night. I am really excited that Plastic Passions is monthly again. Next month I'll be down there dancing. I loved everything I heard last night. It was the 15 hrs straight on less than 4 hrs sleep the night before that kept me from staying any later than I did. Next month can't come soon enough. Jinx

We're fortunate to have Valentines day fall on a Monday so we're going to take full advantage of it. We are going to go all out and we hope you will do the same. If you have been following whats going on in the middle east/northern Africa let me say wow and while it's just a small ripple in the ocean of time that encompasses that region pretty cool stuff. I keep hearing over and over from the BBC, NPR and the normal cable new punditry of links of the civil unrest in Egypt to the uprising in Tunisia. Hogwash I say! Balderdash! To me they are sparked by very different reasons each unique to the individual country. One 30 yrs of corrupt rule in the other inflation and the high price of food. Their is an old middle eastern saying that it very appropriate. "You have the memory of a gypsy moth" Not a single print, TV or radio source has made ANY sort of reference that I have come across to the Green Revolution that failed in IRAN in 2009. This to me was a much larger catalyst than Tunisia or any western Wikileaks based theory I have heard thrown about lately. The Iranian revolution was much more televised and shared between the Muslim nations online in that region than any of the recent events in Tunisia. While they may have added a spark the seed was already planted and growing in the fertile minds of the numerous people living in dictatorial and fundamentalist regimes that asked of themselves What is my own and my families station in life? What do I want for the future? Much like our own independence was sparked by Frances failed uprising the events of Iran's failed attempt I have to think would only strengthen the resolve of others suffering under harsh rule. A middle eastern Alamo comes to mind where the loss only fueled those who saw their courage even against impossible odds. I realize that our bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait will preclude them from this necessary change but I wish they would go next. In my person belief no country should have a king other than Norway or Sweden they have proven they can make it work.

I am really excited for this. With the revamped Redroom it's going to be a great monthly event. The crowd on Saturdays is already a bit older than out regular crowd during the week. With the music and environment upstairs that is catered specifically for them and the unique kick-ass atmosphere that Plastic Passions always offers I really think it's going to feel like 2 different clubs with 2 different crowds. WOW! I have to say I cannot tell you how far off the mark you are. I know the majority of the posts you make about why you are not going to a show,club, whatever is the cost but in the case of the price at CC on NYE you are just wrong. Every club in the WORLD (for the most part) charges more on NYE. If you do the math they are asking $9 more for an extra 2hrs of drinking and an extra 2 hrs of being open. When most clubs are charging $20-$50 at the door CC is not. Not to mention all the DJ's that work there worth hearing playing on one night. I of all people am not one to rush to CC's defense. So the fact that I am I hope adds a little more weight to my point. Whatever you did, wherever you went I hope you are all safe and and had fun. Jinx
