  3. http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/sarah-palin-alaska/sarah-palin-alaska.html "Discovery Communications has acquired the global rights to SARAH PALIN'S ALASKA (wt), a new eight-part documentary series about the remarkable Governor Palin and her home state of Alaska. Slated to premiere on TLC, the series will be executive produced by Emmy-award winner Mark Burnett of Survivor and Apprentice fame." The irony of this has not been lost on a lot of people. The Huffington Post article points out the obvious: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/25/sarah-palin-teams-up-with_n_513235.html "In her next move, Sarah Palin is teaming up with The Discovery Company's TLC for a new series, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," which will take a documentary tour of her home state. We find it ironic that the notorious anti-environmentalist will be given a platform by one TV's biggest nature-driven companies, which owns networks such as Discovery, Animal Planet and Planet Green. In that vein, we're taking a look at some of Palin's biggest anti-environmental stances and contrasting them with the decidedly environmentally-friendly programming put on by The Discovery Company. Take a look, and let us know which pairing you find most ridiculous. "

  5. http://www.bilerico.com/2010/04/sonoma_county_ca_separates_elderly_gay_couple_and.php "Clay and his partner of 20 years, Harold, lived in California. Clay and Harold made diligent efforts to protect their legal rights, and had their legal paperwork in place--wills, powers of attorney, and medical directives, all naming each other. Harold was 88 years old and in frail medical condition, but still living at home with Clay, 77, who was in good health. One evening, Harold fell down the front steps of their home and was taken to the hospital. Based on their medical directives alone, Clay should have been consulted in Harold's care from the first moment. Tragically, county and health care workers instead refused to allow Clay to see Harold in the hospital. The county then ultimately went one step further by isolating the couple from each other, placing the men in separate nursing homes. Ignoring Clay's significant role in Harold's life, the county continued to treat Harold like he had no family and went to court seeking the power to make financial decisions on his behalf. Outrageously, the county represented to the judge that Clay was merely Harold's "roommate." The court denied their efforts, but did grant the county limited access to one of Harold's bank accounts to pay for his care. What happened next is even more chilling...." More from The Daily Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/4/18/858381/-Elderly-gay-couple-kept-apart-at-the-end-of-ones-life The outrageousness of the counties actions in this are just unbelievable. They went well beyond just ignoring clear legal paperwork giving the healthy partner visitation rights and power of attorney, they utterly destroyed the last days he had with this person and ruined them financially. I hope justice, and then some, prevails on those responsible.
  6. Kyra and I were watching "Night at the Museum 2" last night. Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart.
  7. Honestly... I could care less if kids ran around naked. It's the idea that they need to enhance or change what they have because it's not good enough. That's not a message we should give adults, much less children.
  8. And yeah... This is pretty fucking stupid. People in marketing need to be slapped. Same for any parent that thinks this is a good idea.
  9. Are you serious? Why not make boys wear dresses then if you don't want difference? Newsflash: Women ARE different. Look between your legs. What you do or how you act or what you wear shouldn't be a matter of gender... but you are indeed different. If you don't want to be a feminine woman, fine. That's your thing. But don't think your sense of how things should be is how it should be for everyone. A little girl wearing a dress has nothing to do with sexuality. It does have to do with gender, which is not the same.
  10. Which of course is relevant because:
  11. I could do it here. I have Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway and can get Eraserhead quickly. A few others wouldn't take much effort. :-)
