  8. It will drasticly reduce the number of repeat offenders who hurt children. As for the complexity of our species - most of the inhabitants of this planet are complex. We are just the only ones that as a species acts like our sh** doesn't stink. When rehabilitation or education isn't a cure - the filth needs to be washed away.

  16. It is barbaric. It is crude. Human life is human life, yes. Just like canine life is canine life. We as human beings need to remember that we are no better than the other animals on this planet. In many ways, we are worse. Now, if we are willing to put down animals that are better than us - for a myriad of reasons, then why shouldn't we put down *our* animal selves just because we happened to develop more speech patterns than many animals and have thumbs?
  17. I'm thinking I hate this shift I'm working today. 5 hours down - 6 hours to go!
  18. Didn't Australia start that way?
  19. The case of the man who murdered a boy in front of his sister, videotaped it and made the little girl burn her brothers body - execution. This girl in Monroe who was buried alive? They find who did it - execution. Yes, there are going to be occasional punishments dealt that were errors. As long as there is a human element, there is going to be error. All we can do is constantly strive to ensure that the lowest margin of error exists. It is unfortunate and tragic when an innocent man is convicted but that is no reason to allow hundreds to walk free. Mind you, the cases I mentioned are all extreme cases of child rape/murder/molestation. In those cases, which I see as being the most horrible crimes a human being is able to commit - there is no extreme undeserved.
  20. During the two decades I lived inside of the city of Detroit, not once did I participate in a city election. Not once did my vote ever get cast. A big part of why many inside the city don't participate in the electoral process is the crushing feeling of despair. Many truly believe that it doesn't matter because the only people with enough money to even be able to run are only out to further their own agendas. This is a throwback to the Colman Young era, where statesman were crushed and destroyed by the Young machine. I don't fault the populous of the city for feeling that it doesn't matter anymore. I lived it and agreed then as I do now. Choosing between candidates inside of Detroit for the most part is akin to choosing between a punch in the gut or a punch in the face. To get that percentage higher, it will take a miracle at this point.
