  1. Yes, I was treated *AFTER* a very large sum of money was paid. When I went to the ER, I wasn't treated. Thank god my grandmother was willing to wipe out her savings to save my ass, while she was being bled dry herself for cancer treatments....or else I'd be dead. Health care fail.
  2. I am that American boyfriend btw. The American system destroyed the financial lives of relatives of mine, who were trying to help save my life. It cost savings and a second mortgage on a house. This wasn't in some far off state or land, this was in Metro Detroit. I was operated on at Oakwood Hospital. In the emergency room, they just made sure I wasn't going to die on their shift when I went in. No operation was provided until they had $20,000 paid to them first as a down payment. Why wasn't it done in the ER when I showed up? Because I wasn't dying *in that moment*. So until I was in the *moment* of dying, I was sent away from the ER untreated. The giant scar on the side of my head that's been asked about when I'm seen @ City - that's it's origin. The current greed based health care system can kiss my ass.
  3. I doubt anyone 'round here wants to hear an oldschool rivet head play the bass in ooold blues stylings. (I'm a blues player)

    A "Goth's" house

CCNA books More combat boots than the PX at Selfridge. Giant picture of Albert Einstein, right by one of Charlie Chaplin. Multiple clocks on every wall.
  5. Only place I've ever been, where workers had jacks under my car before I was even inside the building. <3 that place. I'm in that area every other weekend still, at Renville and McGraw. I'm going to have to pop over there. Isn't that right by the Ford dealership? Isn't that right by what used to be Tarnow Bakery?
  6. I lived in the Appalachian Mountains for a little bit. For me as a young man, it was a kiss of death. A 17 year old Raev didn't appreciate it at all and craved being back in the home sweet hell of SW Detroit. A 31 year old Raev misses what it had to offer me. Point being - neither life is for everybody and what is preferred today may not be what is preferred tomorrow.
  7. Aww, she beat me to it.

  8. Politically speaking, I tend to disagree with Scar quite often. However, said individual tends to conduct himself in a civilized manner. All of us agree to abide by certain rules and regulations by posting on this board. You have to accept the Terms and Conditions to register. You don't have to agree with each other but you do have to agree to play by the rules - and I've seen no post where Scar has not. If you believe something has been missed, please click "report" on the post in question.
  9. "phenom", I would like to remind you of something. The above is one of the listed rules of DetroitGothic.Net. If you have a grievance, you are welcome to PM any member of the mod staff that you prefer. We can also be found in person at any number of events.
  10. I moved out initially at 17. Moved in with some friends until I was able to rent a place of my own. That didn't take very long, you can get little apartments in the burbs pretty cheaply.
  11. Honestly, that's how I feel about it. I would rather go through the extra steps to ensure safety than have to read about 150-300 (depending on aircraft) families be torn apart by avoidable tragedy. I got ya that we can't make anything 100% safe but we can help keep the occurrences down to a minimum. There does need to be a better way to collect relevant information about high risk fliers and improvements made on communicating pertinent information though. A bit of common sense wouldn't hurt either.
  12. I learned how to swim AND how to fight at Patton Park! I actually drove past it not that long ago with *Siren* while showing her the old 'hood. Any of you guys remember the story about the deaf guy who got shot at Patton Park in a terrible case of mistaken identity?
  13. I went. Took my younger brother and cousin for their first time, so I spent most of the night hanging out with them. I did happen to see though- F0rged and Tyger at the door and collected hugs. It was nice. :D Eevee was fucking adorable as always. She just has an aura of "awwwwwww" that seems to surround her. Black Jack was there in all of his epic manliness. *Siren* and Storm showed up shortly after. (Is it odd that my gf rides with someone else when she goes? ) Saw Xilla Toxic and her mega stompy boots from hell. The sexy mofo Gimp was in attendance. Was good to see him again! :D OMG there was a Fin sighting! OMG! Fin is fucking awesome btw. Taystewonderspook was there. Both looking quite charming. Hellion was in attendance. Always a very nice guy and pleasant to run into! Saw Iris while making my goodbye round. Would have liked to talk but wasn't feeling that great. The gorgeous Pleasurekitten was behind the bar in all of her majesty. She makes good drinks :D Talked to Saint briefly early in the night. There were more....but I need to go eat. I'll amend this later. :D
