300 in there is a gross violation of fire codes. Seriously, they could get fined and/or shut down for that shit. I was at a Midnight Oil show at St. Andrew's where they had somewhere around 1,400 people (the legal capacity is 970), and you couldn't even move. Fuck that.

The article I read was from www.newscientist.com, but it was pretty widely published; I saw the headline on www.msn.com as well. Just looked in on newscientist's page; the link is in the "most read" box at the moment.

Note to all who are interested: I saw World/Inferno Friendship Society in this same room on Thursday night. The Pike Room (are you sure it's happening in that part of the complex?) holds maybe 100 people...and that's probably stretching it quite a bit. Anyway, the Pike Room's entrance is on Saginaw; look for a door which opens onto a flight of stairs and go up.
