  2. This, the way Saint and Knocker were treated, and the performance in the picture of pole-dancers are reasons I am rather hesitant about going to a big music festival that tries to encompass everything. Usually one of the genres performers/DJs get hosed, and more often than not, it is the one I want to see. To say I was disgusted with the way our people were treated was a mild understatement. I wish it was a solitary group's incidence, but I would be lying. Seriously, I escorted a DJ friend of mine to a room she had for the night. We arrived only to find all we had was a studio mixing board, amp, and speakers, when she was guaranteed to have a rig in place (she had to fly in, and her rig was too heavy to fly.) It was fortunate that we arrived way early, and that management was made aware early, so we had runners at our command to mash a rig together. Ended up with two computers (mine inclusive, a couple of ipods, and some ingenuity on everyone's part. If it wasn't for the event staff being helpful and working with us, we would have been screwed. The fact that there wasn't even support from the organizers of Corktown that my friend and I had my example event does nothing but infuriate me. The fact that you weren't advertised in a spread also angers me, and would also be the reason the turnout was problematic (there are quite a few that aren't on.) For me, I usually have a time constraint, and off time is getting pretty scarce these days. I do my best to support people when I can, but in the end, I am restricted by life and death (litterally,) duties. I have seen DJs in the genre treated much better than this.

  4. Roadkill Bar and Cafe; you kill it, we grill it or pickle it...
  5. Going to work and just doing the job, avoidance of the bully, especially a manager/higher just above you just. Doesn't. Work. Example: You have to request an item or data from the bully/boss to get your job done. No way around it. Said bully/boss refuses because he just plain doesn't like you, for whatever reason. Can't get your job done. When the ones above him call him out on why your project isn't done, he can come up with a variety of things to say, and back up (whether it is true or not (bully/boss could respond "I didn't get the request from him until past the due date," when you had it to him weeks prior.)) A bully/boss just doesn't make your life at work hell, but can end up firing you or getting you fired, saying in a passive-aggressive manner, "It isn't personal. It's just business.") They can also make you look bad for other businesses by sending bad letter or call to potential employers to tell you what a bad egg you are. And he will make himself look good in the process, costing you time, money, and a job. Been there when I did administrative temp work. Saw it happen in BOTH civilian businesses and federal/military offices, as well as in the hospital. It happens, and there is no way to avoid it when it does, regardless of how much you lower your profile. It is called real life, real business, working with real people. And why should you be the victim of a bully? It rarely ends, until an outside intervention or retaliation. In a school environment, you may be able to punch back when a bully hits you and it costs you some time in detention. In business and jobs, the punch back is more than likely going to get you arrested, jailed, blacklisted, or a variety of ways to end your career.
  6. A orbital ark to include a platform with a hefty supply of high-yield thermonuclear drop-from-orbit bombs. 1. It's the only way the be sure. 2. Undead or not, there is very little life or remnant of life that can survive the 10,000 degrees. What would you do to be sure?

  8. Great. More political intrigue. I hate the stuff. It makes me channel House so much... and I hate House and medical dramas.
  9. Surferpunk- those who hang ten in spikes, so when they wipe out, if the spikes don't discourage sharks from making lunch out of them, at least the sharks would have terrible indigestion.
  10. Yeah...lived the 80's. Back when popular music was actually tolerable. I could probably spin a good 80's/goth history set. Manson is popular? I thought his stuff has been panned for a while by the community. My music tends to be eclectic, but one of the things that most of my music has is a strong melody. I have never been into just a rhythm-heavy songs as much as I am in to the lyrical flowing of a good melody. D&B is lost on me for the most part. My favorites also tend to be complex and layered instrument wise. I still think of music in conductor's scores, where I mentally break the song down into individual instruments and where they come in. One of the reasons I listen to classical music. Want to get my attention musicially? Find songs with a good melody with some depth of instruments.
  11. Unfortunately, when all else fails, regression to the lowest common denominator happens. Expecting that to happen and it doesn't is a pleasant surprise. Expecting the best and the lowest common denominator happening is legal and physical nightmare. Been security long enough to realize that. A night without asshatery is what they look forward to. Unfortunately, the more people in the club, the more likely asshatery will rear its head.
  12. *raises eyebrow* You sure you got my age right? You forgot to carry something there.
  13. And forget golf cards. I was ordered by a three-star general never to hit the links until I get proper lessons. Something about nearly taking his head off with a low flying ball.
  14. Being mistaken for being SIXTEEN YEARS YOUNGER than I am.

  16. No, no. I jam out to her as well. As well as a few of the female independent/alternative performers at the time. Hear, hear. And of course, it's probably spread wide and far across the board since I joined, but...Elton John. Blame my favorite older sister. *goes to hide his goth card somewhere safe, head hanging in shame*
  17. To answer: You enter through CC. The way it is set up is that the door to the ballroom will be open, and the $5 covers both CC and the ballroom, free back and forth except for the brief time it takes to run the tills out.
  18. With all the bad karma I have had this week, I better be winning the lottery. The Forces of Darkness™ have made their point they hate me this week.
