I came out of a public school system, albeit a very affluent area (with 5 non-english languages taught as electives, and a lot of AP courses (which at the time I was in high school, was actually rare.)) I could easily meet with teachers about half an hour before classes start in the morning (7am,) up to an hour and a half after the end of the school day (5pm,) to include lunchtime, study halls, and at least one period twice a week that they would keep open during school hours for student help. There were teachers that really worked with the students. Now perhaps I am a bit spoiled, but what was asked of the teachers from this district was expected in the district I graduated from. At minimum. However, as well as they worked, I knew my district's salary for teachers at the time was abysmal. I remember seeing one of my math teachers (a favorite of students,) working summers delivering ice, as he wasn't allowed to teach the summer courses, and he wasn't paid for the summer. I can only assume other teachers were doing odd jobs as well in the summer months who weren't teaching summer school. How they kept the talent, I have no idea. I have not heard of anyone outside of the administrative people and maybe principals earning anywhere near $70k/year in education, at least in pubic education systems. I know it has been a while since high school for me, so I concede I am out of touch on this matter.

Well, that was a good buy. Now I just have to wait until next week until I can pay the balance, and I will be out of the PowerPC and into the MacIntel.

One of these days someone is going to find out how much of a dirty mind I really do have. When they do, it is going to be Lovecraftian in nature; either going mad or rushing into the comfort of a new dark age.

Nah. Gave up a long time ago making sense of what strikes my aesthetic chords in a pleasing manner. I just revel in it. Thinks she is an alien, huh? Does that mean something is going to burst out of her chest and wreak havoc on the world?

As long as their not filled with prunes. I may be old, but I don't need those yet (or ever, I hope.) I had to find some locally as I will be involved up to my ears in a 10-hour day, and can't make the sexy awesomeness that this sounds like it is going to be. :(

I was worried more about trying to be (somewhat) of a gentleman. It does happen on occasion. Have no fear, harassment of pretty things (PTs) will continue with this dirty old man. Now she shows her yours, and both of you show them to me.

To this end, Women: sometimes a slap upside the head, up to and including the use of clubs or 2x4's while saying "I like you" is in order. Be blatantly obvious. This is especially for those of us who are illiterate in social body language. (Physical ailment body language and gaits I can peg, thank you. But the whole social body thing, other side of the Clue-Meter.)
