I never have nor will I ever claim to be nice...

Iraq used chemical weapons again Iran and its own people...so what they just dropped the shit right after that and cleaned everything up? Hell no...crackheads let go of the habit long before nutbags let go of WMDs... But all that is off topic anyways... Most recently in news reports and at live events I have heard people on the liberal side describe the conservative side as a "virus" and other such nasty things. Mostly due to the great beer man who WAS a democrat dropping out of the race to be the Republican candidate for Gov. They said the conservative party was "cleansing" its ranks even though Dick Leinenkugel dropped out of the race for very good reasons that were somehow confused for an evil conspiracy... Then again this happens every year to every side so what the hell is new? Oh...we can watch it all happen on the Ipad with lighting speed!

Oh I am going to miss race days this summer...damn BCT! I just got my car finished too! WTF?!?! And in related news the CARB ban on race gas looks like it might be spreading to more states... ...fuckers...

Electrical tape works wonders for holding your boots on...I am totally serious about that too. It can also gather up the extra length on your laces.
-
Even when they have the hooks up top the laces should still look the same as the ones going through the eyes when you are done tying them. The hooks are really only there so that the boots are easier to get on and off of your feet. The only thing you can't really do with the hooks is straight lace the boots. Instead of putting the laces through eyes you are putting them through hooks...unless this is a new type of boot...

Haha I DID get to try this...they had some at the local market. A note to anyone else that wants to try this...BE CAREFUL! Also, tell you boss that you are taking the next week off because you will be getting a super-flu. HOT HOT HOT HOT...HOT! The heat doesn't die and it took an hour to finally develop into the hellish nightmare that it was...and that isn't saying that it didn't start off hot either! Nothing took the heat away...milk worked for a second but even holding it in my mouth didn't work...I would have gotten sick trying to keep the heat down with milk. If you put this in your friends food as a prank you are an asshole...and don't even get me started on what it did to mine...

Yeah I know it has hit me in the ass many times already. The thing that really gets me is that most of the time when a "liberal" group holds a rally in Milwaukee of Madison they get media vans everywhere, police barricades keeping any protesters far away from the activity, and a considerably small amount of protesters. However, I do not see the same happening for the "conservatives" when it comes to their events. My friend Matt died in Iraq a few years ago and his funeral was protested, both by the Baptists nutbags and another anti-war groups. They were allowed to surround the block and even his damn gravesite. The only thing to stop the protesters was a large mass of Harley Riders. This LZ Lambeau event is basically a large brat fry, or block party if you are nor from Wisconsin, for the Vietnam Vets that deserve a welcome home. There is no promotion of war at this event. While there is security the protesters have already sued and created a big enough stink so that they are legally allowed a booth at this event and floor space too. Then there is the burning of Obama in effigy...as far as I know this it the first time it has happened and already there is an uproar in Madison and Milwaukee and lawsuits are being formed...when it happened to Bush I heard of nothing to stop them it was merely an angry opinion from "conservatives". Yeah the door swings both ways...but in many recent events it seem like the "liberals" are denying the fact while they give a swift kick to the door so its hits someone else in the face.

I have seen Hitler Jesus before...Raptor Jesus was kinda funny before it was overused...but that was just bad. I have also seen a burning version of Hitler Bush wrapped in an American flag. No two wrongs do not make a right. However, I see the world now as a large playground. Islam, or at least the extremist part of it, has turned into the kid that pulls pranks on everyone but threatens a school shooting if they do it to him. On the playground nobody cares about two wrongs not making a right...because if you stop the other kid won't since he does not share your theory. You gotta teach them a lesson...look how Christianity was taken down from the pedestal it had back in the day. Christianity was once untouchable and it was death if you tried...it was brought down and Islam will be too.

I got a story from Wisconsin that I think kinda fits here. We have had two extremes for president, as far that people are concerned, because we had Bush who was "far right" and now Obama who was "far left". Whether or not you agree with where they are on the political spectrum their supporters are often on those extremes...at least the loud ones. It has to do with the horrible double standards that are in place today. Take it back to the Vietnam era where the "tolerant, peaceful, and progressive" left burned presidents in effigy, burned flags, rioted in the streets for a cause they believed in and this continued until the days of Bush even if it faded in and out during the years. Yes there was opposition to what these people did but they did it and the opposing uproar was kept to a minimum for the duration. Now...well we have the conservative side using some of these same tactics...and it is WRONG?!?! Obama burned in effigy I don't even understand the uproar people have started over the LZ Lambeau thing going on in Green Bay. It has been painted as a pro-war event that tries to rope children into the military. It is an event trying to give the Vietnam Vets the welcome home that they never got with a show of period correct military vehicles. I guess the event is automatically linked to the conservative side of things which is probably true. However, once again the Vietnam Vets get to attend an event where their every move is protested and it seems they can never have the peace that they want. Why? Probably because they are lumped in with the conservatives who ALWAYS support wars...never mind that many of them were drafted despite their views. Why is it wrong to be conservative? Because according the some unwritten laws the conservatives are not allowed to act in the same manner as the liberals and get away with it.

Tasteless are rude is still different is someones eyes. Look at simple things like belching...some countries you should not do it, and in other countries it is encouraged. Drawing their prophet would not be tasteless and rude unless you went over there and forced it on them through multiple media sources. Oh man wouldn't it be horrible if people did that to religions? Oh wait... Just because someone can blah blah blah...why has this never been mentioned in regard to any of the other religions? If it was it was quickly put down and ignored while everything from light humor to incredibly disgusting humor goes on like nothing ever happened. So does your free speech umbrella resemble a real umbrella or does it contain a few well placed holes?
-
Holy crap I still don't get how every other religion can be picked apart and make fun of in any way possible and every medium in art...but if you DARE to draw a picture of the Islamic prophet you will die. Free speech is almost always insulting and rude when you on the receiving end of it or did nobody know that? You want people to have free speech? Fine...but let everyone have it and expect your own toes to be stepped on a few times. If you support something like constructive criticism and use it often would you flip out if someone used it on you? If you do you would be a dumbass. The extremists groups are the ones being bitchy about this...if they have the balls let them try to make the situation "right". It doesn't matter if we draw pictures of his faceless holiness or not as long as we have modern appliances and clothing that isn't make from goat scrotum and camel pubes they will hate us for "poisoning" their people. Just a thought here but did the guy have terrible acne that they don't show his face? Maybe he had a small fetus attached to his face where his nose should have been. I am just going to submit a picture of Charlie Sheen because that is who I would use as an excuse to terrify people into bitching out and giving me a wide berth...

Best Photo of John Stewart ever.

I always thought he had bigger tits than that... -
You do realize that mentioning that movie destroys our brain cells and makes people remember that Pauly Shore really does exist and really does suck at acting don't you? Shit now I gotta go rent it again... They should just turn cigarette butts into some sort of wall paneling for crappy housing places...or use them in the foam pits the BMX guys use...

Well you are in a moving vehicle and are probably mixed in with some other moving vehicles on the road...no seat position is going to be completely safe. However, you seat should be in the upright position, give or take a FEW degrees and your lap and shoulder belt, some buckle separately still, should both be buckled and adjusted to your body. If you are really stressed about it go out and buy a set of racing seats, a four point harness, and a C-pillar bar that will hold the shoulder harness at the proper angle...I got that but I could still get killed. I am sorry if this makes you paranoid but in the case of a bad accident you can either be upright, leaning back, or doing 69 with a friend in the back seat and you could still wind up in bad shape...although the 69 think would let you go to the afterlife with a smile...hmmmm...

I WANT! I am really getting sick of everything being Habanero now and yeah its hot but it could be worse...

Well there already was a backup safety device in place. The acoustic switch you speak of is only different because it is activated remotely by a crew of people. And the primary and secondary switches on the well head are not the only two devices to stem oil flow in case of an emergency. You really want no supporting data? Well try the fact that this acoustic valve has never been simulated under the conditions of real world use. Just like most other safety devices that are not mandated this device is only know to go "click" under lab conditions. Now, two systems that have been tested, because they are used in more than just underwater drilling, fail and people are going to claim that a system that has a horrible lack of testing behind it would save the day?

I was mostly commenting on what you said about the money being spent on a "better" system taking money away from people that may or may not be making huge profits from this. I don't think anyone is under the impression that the cleanup will not hit everyone in the wallet...even Pvt. Pyle could understand that. There is also no data that proves that the extra valves would have helped anything at all. In fact most engineers find redundant systems to be more of a problem than a solution creating hell during a breakdown instead of helping anything. If there is no supporting data there is no good reason why a redundant system should be chosen no matter what the monetary cost is. So with this logic you are saying that despite the cost to myself or my customer I should install a second BOV on the turbo system that the tractor runs just because there is a slight chance that is could help to avoid a massive failure? We engineer shit to work and not to fail but the fact is that if the machine exists it WILL fail and no have no clue how it will fail, why it will fail, or where it will fail...that leads to the problem of cleanup like we see here since you don't know WHAT to clean up until it happens. Even a simple device like a "clicky" pen has multiple failure points on it...
-
In the whole scheme there the valves aren't really going to made a dent in any money going to anyone...we would see it at the gas pump if anything. Brazil and Norway use different drilling processes than we do. The question of why we do not do the same things they do, which includes scrubbing crude of pollutants before it is processed, is the same as the questions of why we still use shitty fuels and they don't or why everything they have works and when we try to copy it the thing turns to complete shit.

This is another case where WE don't demand enough. I don't care what kind of power station it is or what kind of oil or coal related site it is there are stupid regulations that turn things into shit. THEY do not care if your house is in the area...the wind generator, solar farm, coal dump, or algae growing field will go wherever they want even if there is too much noise, light, shadow, and the list goes on. There are clean-up methods in place at all times. However, there is still a problem because your kitchen is usually handled in the same manner while a giant machine that is pumping "earth juices" is going to have so many problems to prepare for that even Data, yep brought Star Trek into this, would have a hard time figuring things out. Yeah they probably could have been more prepared...but for what? The fact that we know what happened now really changes things but it doesn't help anything before the indecent. Only MacGyver would have been able to handle the situation with the speed that we expect.
-
No you still can't really see things like this coming...I meant the specific accident... Like I said further down on my post industrial accidents are things that people think that we have under control and they will never happen. No it is not surprising that this accident happened for the most part...we just had no warnings. You don't warnings before most industrial accidents unless you look into all the factors that lead up to them and by then it would probably be too late. This accident can teach us many things...including the fact that you can have as many fail-safes as you want and still have problems.

Its weird how they could possibly build the whole rig and drilling system without installing a shut-off valve or the dead-man switch...its almost like they found a way to bypass those systems during the whole operation. Also why should Obama really get that much blame for this? Sure he is president at the time however it is a horrible accident that nobody saw coming...with Bush we even knew about the hurricane but New Orleans decided to not listen. Unless Obama received a message telling him what was going to happen to the rig its not his fault. Industrial accidents are messy...sadly nobody think they happen as long as you are careful therefore there are few regulations of policies to help in case of an accident...just alot of panic and conspiracy theories. How about WE take blame...we are using gas and other petroleum products so they have to try to meet our demand. If you don't try to spread the blame on the proper people you will never find a solution...you are just removing the head but leaving the roots and it will happen again.
