I went to a non-smoking bar last night...it is a biker bar that is in an area under the ban...talk about a blanket ban that does one hell of a job at fucking things up! Another biker bar we went to just decided to forget the new law which works out because no cops ever come in there and neither do people that care.

Well that was quite the horrific accident you described. I would tell you about a Prius that crashed into a parked truck but what happened makes your accident look like the better way to die. But even with that vehicles today are fairly safe. Nothing we do is going to make up for that major accident. So, unless the vehicle you are in has Geo on the badge or is made of 85% rust you should be fine...and this only applies to that small chance that you get into an accident...just stay away from Illinois drivers and you are fine.

You seem to assume that when an accident occurs that the vehicle and the person come into hard contact at a high velocity. If that is the case it doesn't matter what sort of system is holding you in place or what position your body is in...you will either die quickly or you will die slowly OR assuming you live you will have become nothing more than human tissue run by machines. The forward crumple zones on vehicles today are really doing their job well. I have seen some pretty nasty collision results and the front took more than enough of the blow. Leaning back could throw you out or give you an experience different from the one you receive sitting up but you will most likely receive nothing more than a bad pain and a bruise from the accident unless you seat was put in a cramped forward position. Sorry but my senior thesis dealt with the safety systems on modern vehicles. I can say that actually yes we CAN devise a system...but no you cannot pay for it...you do realize the terrible price you pay for the safety systems you already have don't you? And who the hell is going to give up some of the "freedoms" that current systems give you, like reclining all the way back? On the same note, if you ware worried about safety systems and the probability of surviving a bad accident...stay the hell out of hybrid vehicles! I really like my race seat and race harness...they are cheap, sorta, and effective. Practical for the rest of the populace? No. However, a hybrid system of the common seat and seatbelt combo with my racing seat and racing harness, which is legal for road use, would probably provide something better than what we have today. Engineers have been working on it for a while now. I got to see a system that employed a mild wrap around seat which holds the drivers body in a tight grip and does not recline more than 32* and used a 4-point harness instead of what he have today...it was all anchored in instead of being bolted in.

GPS can help alot depending on the situation. Yeah I can read maps too and can give my coordinates to someone over the radio but that isn't the goal when I am driving. Taking away tasks while driving makes it easier to drive and concentrate on the road so the GPS helps there. The only time GPS is useful in the field is if you must mark coordinates quickly for others to gain access to if you a scooting around with the map. People in the field using small maps communicating with people that are using larger maps and GPS is an awesome combination...well it would be if the communication system was more direct which would cut out the lag.

Wait people think that pumping air into a room will take away all of the smoke? Did they hire Captain Gore to figure that one out too? Its simple airflow people and the math does not add up. Smoke is going to be heavier than oxygen and although it looks like it floats up it just goes up a little ways and comes back down if there is no air system to catch it. Add an influx of fresh oxygen, probably recycled air, and you push it down even more. IF there was a chance in hell that the air pumped in would banish the smoke from the room it would require a pumping system that would make your hair move and would probably be blowing the money you just made right out of your hands...not to mention that the gaming floor of a casino has no aerodynamic parts to it at all... Sorry people...not only will you lose your money by being stupid and gambling...you will still get that cigarette smoke you love so much especially if they are next to you... Sorry again but I just had to burst someones bubble today...

Beyond rage...another fucking beating in my town and more damned graffiti from a group I won't even mention because then I will be "racist" even though they kicked the shit out of a pregnant woman, her two children, and her husband...

Gotta get ready for tomorrow...there is a La Raza rally going on and if it goes like last year the locals will need some protection. They keep trying to bite off more than they can chew and places they do not own and they are gonna break a jaw...or have it done for them...

Actually I really hate that "law" considering it is abused a little bit. Yes I actually have had someone use it on me during a discussion about WW2 GERMANY FOR FUCKS SAKE! It's almost like we let the evil live on in its own untouchable little bubble...we just roll over and let them keep sacred symbols, their old stomping grounds, anything they touched or might have touched... We learn from history no matter how much it sucked and that is all history and those people helped to create that history. Godwin's law only seems to apply when it is convenient for the other person to pull out that card you put up a picture of.

Fast food companies still target children on a very regular basis... tobacco no longer do so because of countless lawsuits unless the kids are in the gas stations starting directly at the signs that are often small and obscured by other objects. Fast food and alcohol are advertising all over magazines, sides of trucks, billboards, radio, and on TV...hell its even nuts in the movies... And have people follow you around to check on how you are raising your children? I believe they tried that in Auschwitz and a few of the Jewish slums during WW2 but that didn't work out too well. If you have children YOU raise them and don't raise other people's children unless there is obviously a problem in which case you could talk to them and NICELY suggest ways to improve the situation.

Wow...that lady musta been one stupid individual... I will try to refrain from speaking about women driver here but I will say that I see WAY too many people doing the whole gangster lean thing and I am not sure why it is done, but I kinda hope you crash so you see what happens. Why don't they just go on with the mandate that was tossed out a while ago...all seatbelt systems had to be active and attached to the seat so it would hold onto you no matter how far back you recline...that would have helped here...

You don't just have to live under the power lines to know something is weird. We have hunting grounds that have lines running across them and we don't hunt under them anymore. My stand was really close to the lines and I could hear the buzzing all day and I did NOT feel good after that shit. Nobody hunts there anymore which cuts a large portion from the farming and hunting area...everyone that has hunted or farmed under the lines has a different story and none of them say anything about feeling good.

I can't meet him face to face but I do send my best wished to Dr. Kamau Kambon in his quest...and hope that somehow his sanity returns to him. I guess if he wants money too I could send that... I love how there is a day to be nice to people...I have volunteered at a homeless shelter in Milwaukee at least once a month for a while now in the inner city. If those people keep beating me in poker they will soon be the ones serving me...

Space-Fail
candyman replied to Mean Salley's topic in Current Events, Science, Spirituality, Politics, Religion & Sociology
I just love how all of that expensive technology was just attacked to a damn balloon...I know it usually works but that just for cheap and light crap that doesn't cost that much... How do we stop whitey from taking our money and spending it on space travel? The Final Solution... -
Great but it still presents problems. Affording this monster is not likely for most people and it will be a LONG time before it is. Even if it is affordable it is merely 2 seats and maybe some space in the cargo area. And finally concepts are concepts and the few that make it into production have been re-engineered in certain aspects and don't live up the the hype. I just love all of these expensive sports cars that get "good" mileage and all the other expensive and complicated shit that is being put into other production cars. It seems people have just ignored the diesel generation systems that have proven to be much more efficient. The Volvo team that brought their prototype to our shop showed us a very nice piece of work. A four door sedan with a small 1.2 or 1.5 turbo diesel engine that does nothing but idle and supplies power to a small but efficient, and easily replaceable, battery pack and works in conjunction with four electric wheel motors. The systems were compact yet price was not an issue because of size and simplicity considering they used concepts that have been around, and ignored, for quite some time. The fact that the system I mentioned about seems to be mostly unsupported if not totally forgotten in favor of these concept or production cars that only really please in one area makes the think that "finding a better car" is all a crock of shit. They have tossed out LP and bio-diesel as fuels for production vehicles because there is no infrastructure? WTF? Yeah...its all about the cash and they could give a rats ass about saving anything.

Most of the battery pack designs ended up under the rear seat of a vehicle. In truck applications this was not so bad seeing as the pack fit between the frame rails. However fit didn't matter at all because the battery was in a bad position. Its a trade off when it comes to large battery packs...if you want it to be small for a good fit you get little power but if you want more power then you get a pack that is a pain in the ass to fit. Corrosion is no issue with the large packs as far as I am aware of. Everything is sealed in an aluminum case and once the factory seals is it is NEVER opened unless it fails and it is never used again. The connectors have more fail-safes than before and you would probably have to try to get them to corrode. There are quite a few commercial applications for battery packs like this...however most of the are still in the experimentation stage. They want universal packs for different classes of vehicles like heavy equipment, passenger car, and so on and so forth...each class has one or two types of the battery pack which is interchangeable with all the packs in all the other vehicles of its class. My advice for people is that if you don't want to wait for a decent electric car, you will most likely be in the grave when it happens, just go out and look at your options for having your own electric vehicle. If you already have a poorly running car it is the perfect candidate and it costs less for the conversion than you would think.

The manufacturers have already agreed on standards for fuels. They were agreed upon quite a while ago actually...there are only three testing fuels used by manufacturers today however these fuels are not produced for the public over here and only 2 are available for use in Europe at special stations. What is this about batteries and their connections? I seem to recall terminal corrosion as the main problem with them...I guess other things can be problems too if you don't buy Glass-mat batteries and don't make use of battery sleeves and tiedowns.

Great now I have to go and buy a Stormtrooper costume and an S2000...I might need a paycheck first... I wish I had been one of the Stormtroopers watching the whole show...the girls can't tell I am watching...not sure if the costume hides arousal though...

Its all a matter of how I grew up and where I grew up. As I have stated before the smoking ban has no place in my town. My town was in the World book of record for most bars and churches per capita and we are still close to that old number. With so many bars our bars are families...the same people at the same bar or something the same people go to a couple bars. We do shit with each other outside the bars too...I do a bunch of work for the bikers on their bikes and for the farm hands on their trucks. If a new person comes into the bar, which doesn't happen often, they can tell that they are new because everyone stops talking. If you want a drink its a beer or a whiskey and that is it. Now, when I left my town to go to college everything changed. People accused me of taking advantage of them when I fixed their cars and asked for only $8 and hour for labor. People started telling me what I HAD to do and not what I should do. I really had no political affiliation yet these liberal teachers found out I wan't completely on their side and SLAYED me! I felt horrible because my status as a white male that smoked and shot guns at deer to get food made me EVIL! Yeah it was Madison, WI which is a town that claims to be "progressive" but it actually has its head too far up its ass to know any better. I still stand by all my issues...but when I lash out just look at me as a cat that has been abused before, like my cat Tiggs. I see a hand coming at me and flash back to the old times and freak out. Its not that I want smoking everywhere or for everyone to love it. I even tell people NOT to start smoking. I am just sick of all the demonizing that is going on in this world because, like with the smoking issue, we have been put aside like a freakshow act and it seems that as long as you are a smoker its open season on you and anything is considered fair play. I just want to smoke in my home bar...it is OUR bar and this ban WILL do nothing but hurt us. Anyways...off for a cigarette...which will piss off my neighbors if they are awake because I am not even going to put pants on.
