Explain to me how I'm wrong. My logic cannot be flawed, simply because it is logic. You saying that I am wrong does not in fact prove me wrong. Yeah, people fuck up what goth is, but that is what is awesome about the new definition. It gets to live on in a new form which might not be as cool as the original one, but at least it includes it in a small way. Although hearing people call MSI goth does kill me just a little bit inside each time.

I'm not changing for anyone, nor should I have to, pretty much because I'm right :D Anyhow Scales it's been a widely known fact that the argument of where goth grew out of eventually falls back to Black Sabbath, then The Doors, then Chamber Music, then cave music beating on rocks with sticks. But that's a whole nother argument.

I've never sought tolerance. I'm totally in favor of killing the stupid and a bunch of other things I don't like. Killing off misconceptions about what is/is not goth with the new school definition (already accepted by many I might add) is high on that list of priorities.

Agreed, and I heard they're being phased out in the next dictionary making it an unword. The new term is "double plus emo" I'm not saying ditch it completely I'm saying modify the definition to something everyone can agree on.

Like any of you know what goth is. The Sisters of Mercy technically isn't goth because Andrew says so, apparently. Going with my definition anything darker in nature = goth I'm going to go listen to Shape of Despair now. Although the fact that no one knows what goth is anymore makes me want to get all emo and sad, which is a whole other argument for another day. (edited to add) Hell goth isn't even goth anymore, it's deathrock now because people like you shat all over it. Apparently what is and is not goth changes from person to person to whatever they want it to be. Thanks for ruining it, THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!

Bump Also if someone wants to post a link to a calender event they want added that's fine too. But it must be a recurring event and not a one time thing. Also someone sticky this since it is really useful I guess. I don't want to keep having to bump it every time it falls off the front page and then someone goes "hey what all is there to do in Detroit for gothy/alternative people" and then I end up having to dig out the post and put up a link. Feel free to rename the title to something more appropriate or recognizable like "Regular local events".

Also don't forget that if you use a resolution of 1600X1200 and another user uses 800X600, what might not be big on your monitor will be HUGE on theirs. I use 1280X1024 and a few of these are a little big. Also one should keep in mind of the domain they're linking from too. The board isn't exactly SFW but if the image comes from a domain they don't exactly like... "Bob" forbid you actually do any work at work anyway :D

Also if Circus Obscene starts at 9 I'm listing it as 9 since I don't want to get there before that and hear the radio (which the radio plays mostly crap these days). We also don't want people getting there and hearing that, then thinking they're at the wrong bar either.
