  1. That's what my grandfather would always say "I'm resting my eyes." I think we all knew better though. Sleep is one of the most important things in our lives so catch it when you can, but also one of the most annoying since we waste about 1/4th-1/3rd of them doing it.
  2. I'm sure you fought as hard as you could for them and will be a great reference. Life is change, and it's extremely often that we don't get to choose how it changes. Hey, at least they didn't die on the job or something like that. Sorry, I'm not very good at this moral support shit.
  3. Still better than them being deceased though. I speak with first hand knowledge that no matter how hard you try you cannot hug a memory.
  4. Star Trek, pretty much any of it (except the new movies) but anything pre Enterprise is the best. Also Babylon 5, Alien Nation, and anything else I used to watch with my mom. Also Invader Zim, Venture Brothers, Archer (along with Frisky Dingo), and Rick and Morty. Lots of old anime too
  5. I plan on being there as well for any technical assistance (I'm tall enough to reach the TV without standing on anything too). If the place somehow fills to capacity I will just eat at the bar.
  6. @phee did. Great show! Didn't even know @DJ Nocker would be doing his project, so that was a nice surprise. Then Happy Endings at Eastern Palace was a nice happy end to the night.
  7. Yes, it's one of those timeless things that I will love until I die.
  8. I had a friend with a "service dog" who was really just a glorified ESA. Lovely dog, but the owner not so much though. That said, I think that I should be able to take my emotional support gun wherever I please as it makes me feel safer knowing I can protect myself. My safe space is whatever is in range.
  9. I'm getting ready to get ready to go to Yipsi for that Access to Concrete show in a few hours. Then Happy Endings at Eastern Palace on my way back.
  10. No, it was this year, wouldn't have said it if it wasn't. In fact when looking at information on the new venue for Mid-Michigan Atheists I found that they're having meetings at https://thefledge.com (though I'm not sure whether the mid-Michigan group meeting is connected to the national org.) I didn't ask Helena at the Warren NDoP protest because I wasn't aware of the national drama at the time, just the local drama. Later at the event that Lorelei came to speak at I asked her directly about the drama during the short Q&A and that's when she mentioned about the distancing. So unless she was lying through her teeth I think there is at least some hope. Now you might know more than I do since I'm not actually a Satanist. I just really appreciate the good work that they do/have done and have a few friends/acquaintances who are involved. In any case, Satanism (or at least Atheistic Satanism) is too cool of a thing to let assholes abuse, misuse, and drag through the mud. I'm also not sure anyone can "own" a religion. There is no way to own the ancient symbols that have become associated with it I'm sure, since they exist as prior art. The only things I think that can be owned is the name "The Satanic Temple" and any realestate/physical objects. That's not to say that the law doesn't grant religion a gigantic amount of latitude, so I suppose it is possible. Seems more like a question for a really good lawyer, but the first amendment might tie into it too. I think that while unfortunate it would be kind of funny if a third Satanic Atheist organization came out complaining about the other two assuming it turns out that it is wholly owned and can't be used.
  11. The TST of seven years ago was a real powerhouse but unfortunately internal drama and power grabs really screwed things up. Not these days though AFAICT. They've been trying to rebuild TST Detroit and distance themselves from the national organization. I can't remember who came to talk about it at a Michigan Atheists meeting but she was nice, and Helena brought some members when they came out to protest the National Day of Prayer when they had a fullon church service in the Warren city hall atrium (government property.) I hope they can catch some of that old magic from way back, but that remains to be seen. So far it's looking pretty good though. Fuck I can't find the website again though. TST Detroit had it's own and it even said on it that it was "trying to distance itself from the national organization" (or something like that anyway, I'm paraphrasing because I can't find it and I could have sworn I bookmarked it.) I'll post it when I find it, but I'm not having much luck, but I swear it does exist.
  12. No need to announce, just stop by if you're able. You are absolutely welcome but it's more of a gathering these days and less of a full on party. If you want a party, Happy Endings is going on this Saturday, along with @phee's Access to Concrete show in Yipsi, along with @Raev, Sterling, that other guy who I can't remember, and @*Siren*'s Asylum show in Canada. Anyway I'll DM you soon.
  13. I don't see a start time, but that's cool, and she is also cool. I might pop out if i have no other plans. EDIT: She said it runs from 2-8
  14. New 0 day just dropped: https://www.cyberkendra.com/2023/09/webp-0day-google-assign-new-cve-for.html
  15. Right click on the image "open in new tab" CTRL+ scroll-wheel forward to zoom. Any higher resolution and people might be able to read the shipping label on the box on the upper right, or whatever that is taped to the printer, or pined to the back wall. Opsec is important which is why many places (especially with government contracts) don't allow any photography inside. Looks lovely though. I like what you did with the overhead bins too. Also I meant the kid's photo, but that is good too.
  16. How are you going to say that and not post the picture? :(
  17. How many years have you been here? How long have you been running it? With how your life is though I'm surprised you have any time at all. I'm only here because I basically live online except for when I do tend to venture out.
  18. I think they can cure most of that shit now, or at least mitigate it. This includes AIDS. It's not the death sentence it used to be. Medical progress has been great. Not that people shouldn't still be careful... and picky on top of that.
  19. Because an apple a day keeps them away. Like garlic and vampires.
