City and Necto no longer, for me.
Scary Guy replied to asphyxian_doll's topic in Nightlife, Events & Concerts
Grimrides.com used to have a great classifieds section, check Craigslist.com too. Or hell http://www.thedeadsociety.com/about.php scroll down to parts 5 and 6 for more information. -
Oh we can, but "they" can't. Soccer moms can go fuck themselves too. Just because their lives are shit they want their child's life to be "perfect". Their children aren't perfect or special (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA_XMaTYqSs and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxmE2qMbYRU second one even more so).

Purple Moon Nightclub Flint MI(need help)
Scary Guy replied to asphyxian_doll's topic in Nightlife, Events & Concerts
Ouch, Flint is a trek for me so I doubt I'd be there any time soon. It looks FANTASTIC, the layout from what I saw is nice, everything has a good flow, I hope it still looks that good considering you said the photos were old. Then again I like the biker/car club feel of The Machine Shop up there. Seriously what you want to do is talk to the owners about setting up a regular club night and NOT renting it out. Most people in this scene don't have that kind of loot. Make it a regular night too. Can the place be set up for bands with a stage? Make a stage and do bands if so. Bring in a sound guy as a consultant if needed. Until that happens though you're not going to get many from our crowd there. Glad you found a job though. Maybe you can get Wilhelm to throw something there since he knows a lot of the techno scene. -

Get a hearse -
Maybe so but you're right in that. Although I don't think a regular event is needed. I mean people figured this stuff out for hundreds of years without computers to aid them. Just get an event planner or something and write it down. Don't forget museums and stuff. Even though I hate sports I've heard of goths playing softball in one state as a thing to do. Or you're welcome to come to any of the TDS's events (Reaper's BBQ thing is a dual DGN/TDS thing). I need to get on the calendar like now since it's may.

Just an observation, that has been pointed out. But you did put a misleading title, which really wasn't the cause of the drama, it was the cause of confusion (until they actually read it). The fact you were leaving also didn't cause the drama, it was the why you were leaving that did which is because of a reason that people feel really strongly about. If it were about "I'm leaving because city is anti/pro *issue* (like being preppy/normal for example) then you'd have a bunch of debate on that instead insisting on a dress code to fix the problem or those that don't really dress the part defending the way to look as they want because they're really goth on the inside or just got off work. Just my observation but you probably have me on ignore anyway so it doesn't really matter :D -
Dead-Line Wednesdays @ The Works ROLL CALL: 4/29
Scary Guy replied to wilhelm k's topic in Nightlife, Events & Concerts
Right, that's crap about the drinks. The drink special is advertised until 11, that guy (even though we do get along) was just being a dick and trying to make the bar more money or pad his tip jar. Also you can sue if they don't because they have to do what the advertised price says. So if you see an item in a store that sells for $99.99 and some overworked underpaid store goon marks it as $9.99, guess what you're getting a huge discount. I remember getting a router for cheap at Microcenter because they mismarked it, and then on top of that filled out the rebate. I ended up paying $7 for a $79 router. But yeah if they ever try that again talk to Wilhelm because he won't stand for that either. Speaking of money, Anthony and Marc I'll have yours next week. Strange, everyone calls him Ken. Well everyone calls me Dave... so I can understand his ire at it. His name is actually Kendell, and I prefer David if you want me to like you (Scary Guy is preferred though). -

Yeah that always sucks, like I tell all the DJs though, BACK UP YOUR CDs AND LEAVE THE ORIGINALS AT HOME! (even though I realize this is a huge pain in the ass to do). -

What are you new? See you all in a few hours. -
Hallelujah, holy shit, what a great app. Now on to the rant... Marketing is everywhere, and you will get used to it. Eventually it will just be a dull roar in the background of life and you'll ignore it (or at least I will). Some of it works and I think "hey that sounds like a good idea". However advertising costs a lot, so if they can afford to advertise they probably don't need my money. So I'll look for a similar unknown product and go with that. Then there is advertising that pisses me right the fuck off. Shills are one example which you can read up on at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shill Viral marketing is cool, like the Boston Mooninite scare of '07 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Boston_bomb_scare I honestly don't know if this was designed to be a fake terror attack or if it just backfired and turned into one but either way it was brilliant, made the city look like idiots, and if it backfired got better results than expected because of it. You know what else pisses me off? That sign on I-75 that's brighter than the sun at night made up of I don't know how many TVs (last I looked one of them was out). In the day it's not so bad but at night it really stands out. They should have a low power mode for when the sun goes down. Next on my list is spam, all kinds, sucks. I've got e-mail filters to take care of most of it. However most people don't know what a filter is or how to set one up so they just deal with it, some 200 messages a day. Telemarketers can suck a dick too. For them I like http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html or just keep saying the word "cactus". Answer the phone and say it as the first word, then reply to everything they say with it. One smart girl played along and started repeating it. I gave her kudos but told her I still wasn't buying anything. Eventually I just stopped answering the land line (if it were up to me I wouldn't have one). The DNC list is a joke anyhow because certain groups can ignore it. Most people don't call them out on their crap either when they should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission for being douchebags. Mormons can also go to hell, or their home planet, I don't really care which as long as they stop bothering me. target="_blank But put up signs that say "no solicitors" and answer the door with an assault rifle in hand enough times and eventually people stop coming around. A big angry rottweiler named Stitches guarding the yard doesn't hurt either. Why is he named Stitches? Just ask the last guy who tried to approach the door. Get an attack dummy for him too dressed up like some under-payed uniformed employee on a rope next to a tree for him to play with. Think of it like a scarecrow, just make sure he's white so you're not accused of racism or anything like that, unless you are racist, then fuck you you racist fuck. False advertising also pisses me off to no end, and you see it everywhere they can get away with it and not get sued. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM8qT9Xop5k (skip to 3:55). They also use glue in cereal ads because it doesn't get the cereal soggy. Hell there's so much social engineering getting you to buy shit that you don't need. Here watch all four parts of this http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8953172273825999151 assuming you have four hours to spare. Very informative and educational. I think I'm done for now, I need a nap before I go out to DJ tonight, which you should all come to The Works and buy our drinks, only .50 cents from 10-11! Or tomorrow when we should finally have actual real for real blood wrestling (with real fake blood) at The Ritz (if they've finally got everything set up, I hear there will be six matches). (and you wonder why i don't talk about it that much on here, even though it would be direct marketing to my target audience I don't want to annoy people with the advertising).

Blame idiot morons in society for this
Scary Guy replied to Tacohitts's topic in Movies, Books, Art, TV, Gaming and Computers
Are you fucking kidding me? The government has been doing this for YEARS and right to privacy advocates have been warning of this for YEARS. Seriously there are so many monitoring devices around these days all you can hope for is information overload and that it takes years for them to sort through the data enough to target you. -
Not really no, or at least not how it relates to forcing the consumer to buy new products. The consumer is stupid so you sell them the extended warranty and they don't buy it (most never do). Then something goes wrong and there is no extended coverage. 12 days later it breaks and they either say alright to keep your continued business or they're dicks about it and you take your business elsewhere because the customer is always right, and therefore spoiled. In this market you have to fight for the customer's business and they'll hold onto money tighter than ever. My car is rusting because that's what it was designed to do. I either get it repaired or get a new one, either way someone will make some money. As far as the battery pack goes it's proprietary with different voltage and connectors on it. Same thing with the HP ink cartridges and the refill kits not working. They have a chip in them that knows when it's "empty" and will stop working even if you refill it yourself (or they did, I hope they stopped that crap). In short the customer isn't always right, but he is yours to toy with if he buys your product. Then you can sell him all the accessories, upgrade kits, and (if anything breaks, as it's designed to) replacement parts. So if the customer is going to spend all that money fixing the thing why not just buy a whole new thing. Leasing is great too, they don't even own the thing after they pay for it.
