OK I suck at math, but I think yours is off by a dollar. Also that's a great idea, however Troy would need to be there to collect the money personally. Also people who donate that way wouldn't get the benefactor status on their profile unless everything was clearly marked and Troy worked the door personally. Better idea is discounts at the door for an existing night and just have them donate the money saved to the club. Even better is just donate anyway.

Very good points. Still I'd like to see them do something special for DGN members, weekly or even monthly. Discounted price or free drinks for Troy. I wonder if Mike has ever gone up to him and said "Hey, I know you run that thing online that directs traffic our way and I wanted to say thank you for helping bring people into my club over the years". You know rather than him just expecting DGN'ers to show up every week and get their money.

I didn't even know you were on the forum now. I need to pay way more attention.

http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=26243 so I stand corrected. I was personally not in a building that should have been condemned long ago, but we all know my feelings about the place. Oh wait http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?sho...gn+mephisto%27s Necto in 05 http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?sho...gn+mephisto%27s Mephisto's in 05. I tried getting them to move the official night from City to Mephisto's for as long as I can remember. Giving free admission to all DGN members and free drinks to Troy. We actually got him in there one night and it was quite fun. Too bad it didn't work out though, although the reasons for that escape me. Maybe Troy can help jog my memory on this. Also my attacks against CC aren't personal, as many share my views on the place and how it is run. I also throw stones to make things better and address issues that I think are serious.

Nice PR spin. Don't even address what I said. I don't think I've ever seen you guys do an appreciation night, they host their night there and call it just "DGN NIGHT". The first venue to do this was actually The Ritz and they showed that with coupons specific to DGN. All City Club has ever done was take the money. I didn't say the city club account on here should donate money I said MIKE. The DJs and staff pooling resources together is nothing (ok it is nice, and DGN does appreciate it I'm sure, and you're all good people) but I want to see the owner make a contribution. Even if he chips in a dollar out of his own pocket I'll be impressed but I think he's too cheap to do even that. You're also the first account for a venue to become a supporter or benefactor of DGN. It should be noted that The Works, The Ritz, and Necto do not have accounts on here for promotion. The DJs and staff do it themselves. I highly doubt that Mike and Cybil really care enough to check out the forum or be a part of it. Let's see THEM post on here. Also, let's see you get on the street team and put up some posters in the club as well if you like it so much.

How much is City Club willing to give considering that Saturdays have been "DGN night" for a LONG time now and that has shunted lots of foot traffic your way? By a long time, I mean since 2004 http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=22 (I didn't bother looking on the old forum. Lets say 5 DGN'ers come per Saturday since that point. They bring more than that but I'm being modest for the example. That's $20 if they pay $4 for admission. *4 for around 4 Saturdays a month = $80 * 12 for twelve months in the year = $960 * the past four years = $3840 (which by the way, would be enough to buy our own really bad ass webserver). Keep in mind DGN usually brings in more people than that too. So how much is Mike willing to donate to the cause? We already give DGN a discount over at The Ritz and I'm trying to work out a similar deal with The Works.

Pfft, screw it, I'm going to this instead http://www.detroitgothic.net/index.php?showtopic=27167 Cheaper and more fun!

If the venue has a food license then you should be good to go. Which both The Works and The Ritz have. Most clubs don't care either and will let you order out from what I've seen or bring in home made goods. However those aren't sold usually either so I don't know. I do know that having lemons, limes, and even the ice for drinks requires a special lesser food license, or at least that's what I was told. I've been meaning to check into the specifics of that but navigating government websites can be really annoying. http://www.michigan.gov/dleg/0,1607,7-154-10570---,00.html

Agreed but it's still too long to put on a flier. NOT at City Club. The show will be in the grand ballroom inside the hotel. However if this show goes well the next one we will get the entire place. -
I'm sure we can work something out especially now that we're doing two rooms again. Come out and talk to Wilhelm about it. Half of us there will be able to vouch for you.

The problem isn't you, it's all the members who will say "I DONATED WHERE IS MY STATUS" that might try to make you look bad when they didn't donate and don't deserve a thing (they're out there I'm sure). This is why the fundraiser should just give discounts and collect no money. Then we can tally who shows up and who should be chipping in willingly... or something like that. Then they can take care of things via paypal. It seems the only logical fair way to do things. Also a forced donation is not a donation at all either.

Hey "DJ" should be "DJs" and it should be "Doors @" but I didn't make the flier I'm just passing it along. -
I like your thinking. However I think it would pull in enough money for all the performers to get paid and still turn a profit for DGN's coffer depending on how many people show, and I'm sure quite a few would if it was an official event. Hell City Club would probably donate all their profits for an evening because of DGN night being held there every Saturday, right?

Bella Morte isn't playing I-Rock? I guess a change of venue is good every so often.
