The Learning Channel has decided to open 2 schools. One in New York and one in San Diego. For $4800 you go to this school and take a 2 Week class in the art of tattooing. WTF 2 weeks???!!!!!! And they let you practice on real people!???? Ok ok heres the deal anyone that knows how the tattoo business works and apprentices and such. Well maybe some of you are actually artists or apprentices. Your should know a fully legitament tattoo artist will go through around a year of intense grueling work. Most apprentices are only washing tubes and learning about cross contamination. you dont even touch machines other than to maybe clean and put them away or help learn set up. It takes 6 months in the very least before you actually learn how to use the machine and tattoo pieces of fruit and fake skin. Around a year before you touch a needle to human skin. So we al know TLC has been giving us shows around Tattooing and made it mainstream. Though I was once a huge fan of LA Ink anyways the shows now have become so full of drama its stupid to watch. I still have some respect for the artists I met them in person even got tattooed by one of them so far. Thing is this school is a bad idea. It will hurt the business and those students are wasting their money if they think they will land a job in a legit shop with professionals.Many shops have already made it clear you walk in with a certificate form this school you will be treated with the utmost disrespect Many artists are trying to have this shut down. its not out of fear of losing business and money but the fact that this is a art they take seriously and busted their ass to learn and refine. for someone to hand people a machine and teach them in 2 weeks is appalling and dangerous. A legion of scratchers and sloppy artists will come out of this causing spread of disease, bad work, and scar people. It will produce plenty of cover up business for sure but sadly at the expense of the consumers getting tattoos. They say the school will provide gentle nurturing environment for students. Gentle? Nurturing????? Seriously the tattoo business is anything but. We must remember the types of people who built this industry and they are anything but gentle and nurturing. The shop environment is no place for kids. The images, language and people in shops isnt one for the old catholic granny. Sure good shops will have a respectful and clean image and use discretion with certain types of guests that come into their shop but as a tattoo artist your working with people who are tough and usually from a hard lifestyle and background. When they teach a apprentice they make Mr Miyagi look like a softy. the training and work is intense because tattooing takes strength, endurance, skill and a long amount of training and discipline. No doubt there are some good self taught artists out there though they usually get into the professional filed and have to unlearn bad habits and still bust their ass to get to where they are. Many professionals in the industry are boycotting her school, her show, TLC and any students that have gone through it. I sincerely think they should stop now and not waste anymore peoples money and time. If you are truly passionate about this art form and wish to learn then you have to bust your balls and toughen up and do the work or will it mea anything to you more than any other job? Maybe you all have different opinions on this. I wont hold it against you if you do but I know myself and thousands of artist are against this and boycotting it. for those who wish to get tattooed be wary. Remember its your money and your body your taking a gamble with. Some people are fine with mediocre cheap work. I know I myself have a few pretty mediocre tattoos myself but now I only want truly reputable and skilled artists handling my precious canvas from now on even if it costs a little bit more. I intend collecting pieces of art on my body from now on. TLC will give tattooing a image and reputation that will be false to the masses. While some hope body art can be more acceptable this is not the way to do it. It will also end up letting the government get even more involved and some tattoo professionals while they absolutely hate the idea now think it might have to be done to prevent this tattoo school and many more like it form popping up and putting very inexperienced tattooists on the streets. Those who do not find a shop or proper apprenticeship will wanna make money form their investment and do tattooing out of their homes in not so sterile environments. I am guilty of this even though I practiced most care when I briefly started learning on my own once I really talked to artists and realised the magnitude of the art I sold my machines and stopped. I thank god no one I tattooed was scarred, hurt, or infected because even with all the sanitary precautions I took I was still running a risk. I been through a couple apprenticeships which due to circumstances out of my control were ended because my artists moved too far. So at this moment I put it on hold because I also will need to be able to better devote and dedicate my time to it than what I have now. Its just a bad idea thats all I am saying in this rant. I am sure some of you may have heard it already. I suppose I just thought it would make a interesting discussion topic.

I do but they live out here in southern California :/Just dont get a TLC tattoo school student to do one. They only get 2 weeks of training. YIKES!

Long before I joined DGN I had came up with my name The Fairy Gothmother. What started out as a clever Halloween costume a spin on the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella with a goth twist turned into my alter ego and I use it for many forums and screen names. Now days I also use Khaos Kitteh or kitten in variations as well. Still however in the scene I am the Fairy Gothmother and out here I am recognized at clubs and events as such as well. It is even tattooed to me which I designed. FGM for life

Hey Hey my lovelies I am coming August 1st for a couple weeks so hope to see you all hopefully. I wont have a car as I am flying in and staying at folks in Algotucky. Well Algonac its near Fair Haven and Mt Clemons so I might need a lift to the clubs or to hang out. I would have loved to brought my own wheels but the cost to fly much cheaper than driving across country and faster lol. Anyways I dont have a anticipated return date planned kind of depends on how things go with relatives and my BF. I might be going to Erie Pennsylvania before I go back west but if I dont I am leaving by Aug 16th as school work must be done and unless I was with my bf I wont have the software I need to complete my assignments. Unfortunately I cannot drink. I love to party but apparently the drs told me due to the pancreatitis I recently got my body may no longer tolerate alcohol and cause further episodes which require hospitalization to treat and its very painful. So virgin cocktails only haha! Dont mean I cant enjoy some 420 tho! Well just contact me and let me know if you wanna hang out. Dont miss out as this Cat will be back In Cali before ya know it.

Hey there not all Californians are that bad. I mean fair enough I was born and raised in Michigan but I live in Cali and my friends and people I know are really chill. Sure celebs and politicians are all wack jobs and scientoligists lol.

For those of you who are huge Rammstein fans and want to see them you now have your chance. On their own Headlining Tour They are playing in select cities across the US and Canada. If you live close enough to one of the locations get your tickets fast because they will sell out probly within an hour. Joe Letz from Combichrist just confirmed and announced they are supporting Rammstein and will be performing along with them as well as other shows in between. I will be at the May 20th Los Angeles show at the Forum. tickets will be between $50-$100 and these are arena shows. Check out ticketmaster or Rammsteins official website for dates, locations and details. The closest show to Detroit will be in Rosemont IL at the Allstate Arena and in Toronto Canada. Tickets go on sale the 25th in Canada and the 26th in the US.

Well if they do I dont know. I know most goths or people in the scene talk in forums in Real Indsutrial Radio. That seems to be where the LA action happens. I have not extensively looked. Yeah I pop in and see whats going on with everyone back from home. I am not the type of person who moves and completely forgets about where I came from and stuff. Michigan is a good state. Yeah its got its problem but nowhere on this planet is perfect. But yeah I miss you all! You are all alot of fun! Hopefully it will not be too long before I make a visit out there. Only problem is I will be flying so my car will remain parked in my driveway in so cal so I might need someone to come to Algotucky to get me when I visit so we can all hang out.

Well one would assume since many people call me Cat I would draw myself as a Cat but I actually have a thing for Owls. Silent predators that hunt in the night and have big round eyes and hoot. LOL. And they can turn their heads around almost all the way! Thats like exorcist shit there haha! If I were to choose a specific breed I would have to say snowy owl. I love them not because of Hedwig from Harry Potter but because they really are beautiful and now rare. It might also come from being a northerner and the whole michigan snow and cold thing as well. I may not live there anymore but it is where I was born and raised so the memories and experiences will always be there. Now time go to eat a mouse and regurgitate a owl pellet LOL. Not a attractive aspect of owl nature. Oh and I forgot to mention I am a artist so I have painted, drew and sculpted snowy owls. I may have to make one the represents me now though!

Ok so it may not be a milestone compared to many of the DGNers on here but I noticed that exactly one year ago Jan 13th 2010 I joined DGN. I have been to a few DGN events and nights at City Club and the Manfast. I mean ok so I may not live in Detroit anymore I guess you can call me a LGN Los Angeles Goth Network I dont think they have one. They just have Real Industrial Radio which most the scene are involved with and talk to each other on. So anyways I thought i would share that! One Year on DGN!

Hey everyone how are you all? Hope the holidays went well and you had a great new years. I had a blast. I am totally in love with my adorable boyfriend who means the world to me.He is a bad ass guitar shredder and has the most gorgeous natural long black hair. It is not a wig and he lets me pull it when we have sex rofl. He is latino but pretty much born and raised a white boy or in espaniol POCHO which means white washed. He does not celebrate his hispanic heritage or speak espaniol. Dont matter to me cause hes cute, cuddly and alot of fun to be with. California has been good to me. Well the weather hasnt been the best with the horrible rain storms we had for a bit. Cant complain its not snow and ice. I been losing weight and doing well. I got a new car, living in a cali suburb a hour from L.A. I moved out of my tattoo guys place and closer to my boyfriend into a nice house. I have met Kat Von D 2 times and Dan Smith from LA Ink twice. I stopped by High Voltage in Hollywood and its awesome. I also stopped at rival shop American Electric and I am getting a tattoo done there Jan 14th by one of the shows artists Craig Jackman a crazy funny british dude who runs the shop. I do intend on getting lots of new tattoos done by all the artists I love. The goth and rave scene out here is cool. I have not done too much in the goth scene since my boyfriend is more of a raver. Hes a metal head but loves the so cal rave scene. Its ok though the commercialization of it sucks. I am planning on going to burning man but I am hearing that the law enforcements are now beginning to crack down on the event and the use of drugs which is good and bad. I have views for both sides of the coin on that. I do intend on visiting home sometime in the near future with my bf. Depending on time and money will depend on if I can get down to a dgn event or club. I will also be without car as I am flying. As fun as the roadtrip was moving here I do not have the money to drive to and from Michigan. Anyways heres a few pics of my main squeeze Steve.
