  1. The YouTube goth community used to be a lot more lively, but it seems like a tyrannical woke Google taking over has made the website more stagnant and socially atomized, so now there is no online alt community with decentralization-- and that works against novelty, people wanting to participate, and innovation, because novelty-destroying moderation is like Sauron's ring where almost everyone has lapses in judgment towards it. People are drawn to YouTube and Facebook on mass, unlike goth forums in the present day, but these sites are destroying themselves. Gothic and alternative culture might thrive most in the long term on Twitter if Musk turns it into a heavy free speech zone.
  2. I don't like most rap but I love this song, music felt less fake in the 90's.
  3. I have a gut feeling that when Elon Musk has had ownership of Twitter for awhile it's going to be an interesting place, like the earlier days of YouTube.
  4. After hours upon hours of messing around in FL studio, this song is starting to sound good.
  5. I need to practice violin and guitar a lot more, I have the ability with FL studio to make decent darkwave beats, but don't have enough guitar knowledge or ability to make the post-punk/gothic stuff I'd like to yet.
  6. All my past attempts to make post-punk music didn't sound quite right.. because they were too in tune! It seems like there has to be a detune effect to get the guitar to sound post-punk, which creates a more bittersweet or dark sound, in my case the original chorus parameters I was using didn't have enough of that effect going on. Chorus + reverb + delay (including detune). But it sounds to my ears like the delay could be optional or shouldn't be too overpowering and the reverb with most bands is moderate, not too small, but is below the most extreme/shoegaze levels. It also sounds like this detuning and chorus (and reverb) is going on with the bass, at least with the gothier post-punk, which is why my bass never sounded right to me trying to get more authentic post-punk sounds. So even chords and notes that would've sounded positive sound more dark because of the detuning effect. EDIT: I guess The Cure uses a flanger but that has a detuning effect if I'm not mistaken. EDIT 2: And if it's going to go goth, all of the instruments except the drums should have the effects so everything has a slightly out of pitch feel.
  7. Over the years I've been inspired by people like Jordan Peterson, John Vervaeke, Roger Scruton, and others connected to these people, I've started a Rumble video channel that is about benefiting the most people to the greatest degree possible through what I believe to be the foundational thinking of critical-thinking aka probability/probable truth/likelihood deduction (will explain more in a future video); this channel is also about pursuing an understanding of the connection of human psychology and reality in order to create more beautiful and truth-producing conversations-- and attempts at the probabilistic exploration of truth, goodness, and beauty.. and their connections to each other, in order to further manifest them. https://rumble.com/vvtilh-channel-introduction-what-is-probabilistic-utilitarianism.html

  9. Most of the new goth/gothic/darkwave/post-punk stuff I don't end up liking, so because I'm picky I'll take what I can get. I wish Robert Smith would do more collabs.
  10. In the future I want to get better at mastering and do some "Beautiful Ambient" songs, like a subgenre that the bands Hammock or Hazy would fit into.
  11. Thank you. EDIT: Wasn't sure I could get off of Flagyl because it might cause antibiotic resistant bacteria. Called the doctor and she told me I could get off of it. Thank god.
  12. Sorry Tron, that was a compliment about the background. If I sound rude with anything I am saying it's not intended at all. I'm five days into an antibiotic-induced hell to treat my stomach infection and ulcers, the misery I feel is all day long, every day, there's a lot of pills left in the bottles, and it's going to take extreme stoicism to keep working. But I'm taking a high dose of probiotics daily to help balance things out.
  13. It's about time this place got a high resolution background. Also I was browsing the Small's facebook page and saw their vaccine mandate post, and much more broadly than that I'm wondering when the public at large will find out that because the vaccines were rushed it was missed that the massive replication of covid protein spikes they cause are toxic to cells, travelling through the circulatory system, causing blood clots and random organ damage, which has caused the deaths and handicapping to be higher than the average vaccine, alongside a lack of awareness of their poor effectiveness, and that the lack of scientifically-valid holistic medicine in treating covid as a result of regulation and lobbying in the medical industry has probably caused a great deal of preventable deaths. But I could be wrong, just my personal opinion, unsourced in order to be easily ignorable and avoid any possible debate I'm not interested in.
  14. There are a lot of legendary strains congregating near Detroit. I need friends who like to drive more than me so I can turn weedmaps into Pokemon GO.
  15. The dispensary flower can get pretty strong. Weed also causes tunnel vision just like alcohol, though some strains more than others. I don't like people driving, and I refuse to get behind the wheel unless I'm extremely sober, but the average drunk driver scares me far more than the average high driver and that seems to be a common sentiment. That's cool that Necto allows weed (I'm assuming), not sure what the A2 laws are with that. Necto was always boring to me because I don't like dancing, music seems too loud for people to use the tables for conversation, and I never had enough friends there with me to have interesting conversations. The tables in Necto always seemed kind of bizarre because you struggle to hear each other and there was no food allowed, so it's like they are more like places to sit and be bored, and maybe drunk, rather than serving a greater purpose. Typical 20-something hedonism seems like a path to a perpetual nihilism, regardless of the aesthetic it's dressed up in, but maybe nightclubs will adapt to this someday because their attendance was statistically falling among millennials-- but my bias is that I've learned from Roger Scruton to think about the presentation of art and culture as existing in a complicated hierarchy of moral quality which affects how much meaning one has in their life. I agree there are negative aspects to weed. I think it's important that awareness is raised around Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome as being a real and rare medical condition, before it kills more people.
  16. Just my personal opinions.. America is in bad shape but a Republican pushback in the mid-terms is likely and could help with reestablishing defense via closing the borders and bolstering police to stop the crazy crime going on right now in major cities. As for the illegal migrants that are already here, I don't think Republicans or Democrats are wise enough to deal with that problem in the most mutually beneficial way. With the national debt, and another looming Great Depression, I think Austrian/Chicago economics combined with feasible UBI is the most logical answer to that, and most likely only going to come from Libertarians establishing mainstream popularity which is very unlikely. I've been reading a lot of non-fiction, and am pretty focused on the past, which I suppose helps me rebel against how bad the present is due to poor popular values either in politics or in life. But Larry Elder is a leading black conservative thinker with good values, if he manages to become governor of California and enact Libertarian-leaning policy based partially on his admiration of Thomas Sowell, it could set an uplifting example of better policy and be really good for the country as a whole.
  17. I won't go to my local 7-Eleven because of too many shady customers. That place is darker than a goth club. If Baudelaire was alive he could write poetry about it.
