  1. I'm all for hot chicks dancing, even though nothing about that or dancing itself is, in my personal opinion, Punk or Goth to me. That's why I've always been bored at Necto. I would like to get more involved in creating a local Alternative scene and primarily see Alternative music get more local recognition. And I would like to be drunk at a local bar and hear the Holy Trinity of Indie (Gauntlet Hair, The New Division, and TV on the Radio).
  2. They are trying to bring people into their nights with Go Go dancers. I think it might be part of their DJ company. There was some chick dancing in front of me while I was being attacked by monsters.
  3. I am suprised so many people on the internet support spanking, which leads me to believe it might work better for some people based on genetics. Maybe people with genes that give them better anger control can rationalize physical punishment. Personally though, I feel that its better to go through endless pain than be lead by the beliefs of violent books and boring conservatives.
  4. I've been battling social anxiety lately with trying to find an apprenticeship, but I probably feel more balanced than I have in months.
  5. I love Rock and Roll. And the rockstar at its best has usually been a representation of societal disillusionment. But after early 2000's rock, more and more I find myself hating rockstars and the whole rockstar mentality. Its never been more Mainstream than it is now, and its never felt more like its trying too hard to be masculine. No matter how many fans a musician has, I will not respect them if I don't like their music. I don't need to listen to aggressive music all the time because its more "manly" not having anything to prove. The guy who only listens to Metal or Gangsta rap is a typical example of this. There are a lot of bodybuilders who ironically listen to Pop music or Trance while lifting, even Henry Rollins admitted to listening to love songs in the gym. Having complex emotions used to be a requirement for making good music. I had an interesting conversation about how the best music has lyrics balanced between social relevance and interesting abstraction. We were talking about how Marilyn Manson doesn't really have any social relevance left, which I attributed to the internet uprising of Atheism because the hook of his music was usually anti-religious; but now I would add that the social conditioning of internet culture probably hurt shock rock. I don't care if there's sexism in music as long as it serves good wit, probably in an abstract context; but I honestly can't think of any examples. This would go along with general black humor used in the context of abstraction. As much as I dislike a lot of Indie love songs, I don't appreciate the misogyny in heavier music either, which goes back to trying to prove gender over social relevance. Ultimately, what I want to hear in the lyrics of any genre is interesting abstraction that tells a story and/or raw, hard-hitting, time-stopping social relevance.
  6. I think if I had a conversation with my 40 year old self he would joke that I have some terminal illness.
  7. Some trees drink pure rainwater, but grow into twisted shadows; and if the insects get inside, the insects will die.
  8. I would eventually like to play some stuff at local bars, maybe more next year when I'm less busy, I am more concerned with beautiful music.
  9. I have to start writing a 10 page memoir soon for college, and it got me thinking about how even though I have a lot of dark memories, its makes the story I tell have crazy entertainment value.
  10. I'm so stressed lately I'm thinking of switching to calisthenics for awhile.
  11. I'm coming out of my hole (not that I'm going very far). I haven't been to LA Cafe in a long time, I last remembered it as a smaller version of City Club for metalheads. But the local scene is slowly starting to get more genre variety. I am also going to ask Stichiz some questions about DJing, because when I have time I want to eventually subject fellow hicks around the county to Indie and Dreamwave. I will probably come around 10. If I don't end up doing much conversing I'll probably sip a beer and play video games on my laptop.
  12. Lately I have been back to practicing the KAP guidelines to the letter, if I don't, I'll get bouts of nihilism. When I do practice them correctly, though I can't necessarily take credit for something that appears impersonal, I am more than content. So I'm "advanced", I have to meditate to not be tortured, lol.
  13. I'm still working on SNES Earthbound, and I started a file on the SNES game Mystic Quest which is fun but seems pretty dated. I got a netbook, tweaked Windows 7 to run better, and have been playing Terraria. I also plan to play it with friends when it hits consoles. So I will play the living crap out of that game. I thought it was all around good. It had the feel of you being a Steampunk ninja with black magic in a Victorian era. They will be making sequels eventually.
  14. That sucks. I hope that you can to a doctor and get it figured out. I pulled a muscle or something deadlifting in the past, which caused me to collapse over the bar, and screwed my back for months. I've never deadlifted heavy since. I weigh around 140 and at most I deadlift between 50 and 80 pounds because I'm afraid of messing something up.
  15. Neros77 does some cool retro mash-ups. Interesting. I found a dark green pair going for $50. Too bad someone couldn't mass replicate those and small teashades for like $10. Another problem I've noticed with average teashades is they aren't straight or don't curve slightly around the face, they seem to curve slightly outward, which to me is just weird.
  16. I wanted to prioritize my writing, that this or that is what I'm going to work on. But I get passionate about a certain project, and partly because of all the 80's synths I'm listening to, and a disgust with the overuse of orchestra in cinema and video games, I'm thinking a lot about Science-Fiction.
  17. These days the public usually calls them John Lennon or Ozzy glasses. I prefer the term teashades because I want them to be smaller than the glasses those singers wore. Also I've had this (NSFW) on repeat all week..
  18. You should look into guitar tabs, its easier than learning to read music.
  19. Also, I thought it would be worth a try, so I sent an email out to the Light Asylum to see if I can collaborate with the lead singer to make this track into Dreamwave Post-Punk. If this happens, minds will be blown.
