Tired, relief - a little blah thrown in there for good measure.

Yes it could be argued that they are holding a hearing aid but there is no on around for them to be talking with. It seems there are very few plausible explanations that our minds would accept. They could be.... A lunatic talking to themselves.(possible) A time traveler. (could be possible) A prankster. (very doubtful) A very advanced inventor toying with the idea of a portable phone device for future use. (highly doubtful) After that, I'm stumped.

I will admit that it looks compelling, intriguing and that it does in fact look like someone that is using a cell phone. Of course one has to realize there were no satellites or cell phone towers back in 1928 but then again, if that person was a "time traveler" one could argue they were talking to someone connected to the "project" and relaying information back (or would it be forward) and they just happen to have walked unknowingly (or knowingly) in front of a camera. I am baffled by what the film shows. Even if it weren't a time traveler then what the hell is that person doing walking with their hand in that position?

~From Creature~ So then I guess you are saying that the $5.75 a week Americans got from Bush was like a handshake/warm greeting because it came from a republican? And when a democrat gives back more (even if it's only a little - but still let's admit, it's more money) you tell people it's a complete insult? Is that what you mean? Or have I misread your comment? I also noticed that you did not address the fact that Bush's tax rebate amounted to way way less than Obama's. I'd like to hear your thoughts about the difference since what Obama did (according to you) is a cruel joke and a slap in the face.

Ran across this just a minute ago, it made me laugh.

Agree. To some people, an extra 20 per check would make a good difference, not joking either. I think about this and tax cuts for the rich and one thing that stands out in my mind is, the rich seem to forget that, the middle class and the poor are really the people that keep this country moving. Others can balk and say it's wall street or corporate America or the banks but really, when you think about it, what are we always hearing about? Getting the public to start spending. If every American decided to skip buying Christmas gifts this year (for an example) the stock market would plunge, retail would go into a tail spin. Financial analysts would be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Total chaos. And my point is, those on capital hill should really start looking after the best interests of the average American. give us a break, not the banks, not the filthy rich on wall street. Those are people that are making a difference, they are re investing into main street America as much as the average person. Again, just how I see things.

What I understand it to mean is, it is based on each persons income level (or take home pay) so those that make more would see more money per check and of course for those that make less it is less. The Bush rebate was just a flat amounted regardless of income level which really, wasn't a great idea (IMO) because people were not running out to spend that small check. I talked with people and all of them said the same thing, they were gonna use it to get caught up on their bills. What Obama is trying to do is give people extra money every payday in the hopes that they would eventually start re-circulating it back (i.e. making small purchases, going out to dinner, ect.) I think in theory it's a good idea, it just needed to be a larger amount (again, imo).

The tax rebate was 2008 or 2009. They were what, $300 per person? Which amounted to 0.821978 cents per day over the year period in which the tax rebate represented. I don't know about other people but I spent my 0.821978 cents wisely. So yes, clearly that amount is way better than 8 extra dollars a week. (sarcasm people) And the 0.821978 cents per day comes to 5.75 dollars a week. After doing the math it looks like President Obama did make more of a difference when the facts are examined. Just my opinion though.

I didn't say that $7.67/ a week was better. What I said was at least he is trying. He isn't waiting until the 11th hour to do something. The difference is in trying to make things better as soon as possible. If you want to insult a President for trying to make things better that's your right. I would rather give someone a chance rather than just be negative simply because they aren't a member of the political party I'm a member of. I gave Bush a chance, he failed miserably. Our country isn't lucky enough to still have men like Washington and Jefferson around anymore. And when people talk about experience being important, hmmmm....they must be forgetting that our country was founded and run by those that had no experience at all and yet somehow, they made it work well enough to get us to this point.

I agree with you that this is disturbing. The remarks made by the Chancellor eerily echo the past (IMO) and lead me to think the Some (well, at least one) German leader has not learned from WWII. History showed us that Germany didn't learn anything from WWI and thus we ended up dealing with war again after 20 years of peace. Now we have a unified Germany and as I have heard from a few native Germans over the last few years that unifying Germany was not an ideal thing in their opinions. They feared how something like this might come up again and it looks like they are right. At least, so far anyway. Such a shame.

The facts (concerning our deficit, since most people are debating it here) are this.....(from an older article) How I ask, could Obama even be remotely held responsible for what already existed when he took the oath of office is beyond me. Former President G. W. Bush practically did little to nothing to make things better before leaving office. He (G.W.B.) was even going so far as to deny any recession was taking place until he was almost out of office. By fay, Mr. Georg has been the most irresponsible president this country ever made the mistake of electing (if you wanna call it that, but that's a different can of worms). So, regardless of party - the man to follow him into office has one hell of a mess to clean. Seems to me, that's gonna take time. Also seems to me since that man happens to come from the democratic party, republican supporters are having a good time bashing our current leader. Now, I am willing to bet if a republican got elected (McCain, yea right) conservatives would more than likely pretend like everything was getting fixed on schedule. The reality is all parties in Washington had better figure out a way to work together and start solving our economic woes or even they (the rich) are gonna find themselves without a pot to piss in. We are all in this together, we had the misfortune of electing a clueless Harvard failure for 8 years and we should learn from our mistakes. And I propose that there should be an I.Q. test for anyone that wants to run for president, kinda like the rides in amusement parks that say "you must be this tall to ride".....these should say, " you must have at least an I.Q. of xxx to run this country". Maybe that's the solution. /rant

I thought, since there are those that are up in arms over a few private citizens using their food stamp cards to buy chips and carbonated beverages that it might be a good idea to look at the other side and examine those (our government officials) that waste (our) money on things that are not NEEDS but rather WANTS. Examples of pork-barrel spending include: Wow, a $100 billion dollars is wasted away (that be your dollars people) and there are people that are upset about some soda purchases? It would make more sense to be upset about our government wasting billions of dollars and putting us all in debt, wouldn't it? Or is it easier to get upset about bridge card users that are doing some want purchases which is how much different than a politicians want (not need) purchases? The difference everyone, can be measured in the billions. Just a little food for thought, no pun intended.
