The "lawmakers" are thieves and criminals. They are the the ones that want to place more burden on the already overly burdened public. They are closely guarding their own pay raises (which they vote for how convenient, eh) they closely guard their perks and benefits. They are now voting to take away peoples rights. You can piss and moan about YOUR opinion of unions (you have that right) but what current actions amount to are the removal of freedoms and rights. America can no longer afford these kind of lawmakers. They are over paid and are against the voters (i.e. the general public).

While that may be true I caught a story on t.v. where in Los angeles, Ca. alone there are drilling sites bringing up oil for our reserves. The men working that site were saying that in their area alone we had enough oil to last American consumption for about 150 yrs. Now it makes no sense to force auto makers to make electric cars and alternative fuel cars to end up with what? Billions of gallons of unusable oil 100 yrs from now? I feel confident that 20 yrs or so from now there will be an alternative fuel and or electric cars will be replacing gas powered cars and we can be free of oil.
-
Full story here. I was talking about this last week. Why are we not tapping into our oil reserve sooner? It has been obvious for far too long that we are being held hostage with soaring gas prices. We have more than enough and on top of our government pressuring auto makers into developing alternative fuels driven cars and electric cars, why have we been sitting on our own fuel supplies?

Michigan lawmakers, ect. all can start by doing away with free health coverage that we are paying for them to have (how nice they tell us how in dept this state is but they still accept the perks this state can no longer afford).... And secondly, since they are on average earning about half a million in just six years I'm thinking they can take a pay cut since, Michigan can no longer afford such high salaries. Seems that if this salary cut were implemented we would be damn close to solving our budget deficit. Question is.............are those lawmakers going to do it themselves and show the tax payers they are willing to share in the "shared sacrifice" they talk about or do we the people need to put it on the ballot and force them by voting to take salary cuts? I'm thinking we'll have to vote their salaries down because, they haven't been willing to take pay cuts over the last umteen years so why should they do it voluntarily now? See, I do offer a solution that is directed at both sides. Not one over the other.

The answer is to put more money in the pockets of the working class. Bush tried it though in a very miniscule way. Obama is trying it by cutting taxes to put more money on people's weekly pay but it is not enough still. We bailed out the banks (though not by our own choice) but it was done to get banks to loan money to whom? The working class - to do what? Stimulate spending which should promote growth. The banks refuse to give loans now because (as they say) people are too risky to lend to. Nice eh, the banks engaged in risky behavior and asked the federal government for a bail out, at OUR expense. But that is no matter. Right? So now Michigan has a new Governor that out of the gate thinks he knows better than others (even though he has NO EXP. WHAT SO EVER) and I recall conservatives bashing Obama for not having experience. Seems when the shoe is on the other foot it's ok. But still, we are being told that cutting taxes on business (except for the one business that is growing in Michigan) and taxing pensions and the already poor will help generate revenue for the states budget. Why does it always come to, let's make it more difficult for those that are already having trouble making ends meet? When will we ever hear a politician say "we're gonna make things better for those that are having a struggle making ends meet and place some burden on the wealthy"? I don't know about you but it is my belief if you keep chopping the tree off at the roots to save the top branches the tree will eventually fall. Or am I also wrong in thinking that?

The whole thing is real easy to understand, the reality is this.....if companies continue to refuse to hire new workers, if companies continue to cut the wadges of their workers and the number of hours they are worked, making their paychecks smaller and smaller those same people that are losing money each week will continue to stop buying items they can live without. They will stop going out to restaurants, coffee shops, malls, cinema's and ect. ect. Which will continue to hurt those same companies that are crying how people aren't buying from them or doing business with them and again, to ect. ect. and we will continue to see the negative trickle up effect. Not theory, reality. So, if certain government officials wish to continue down this horrid path by which they keep claiming the only way out of this is thru layoff's (like fire dept. lay offs) we will all (including them) find out the harsh reality of cutting ourselves off at the ankles will cost us. If more people were put back to work, and company CEO's would put their greed for profits on hold for a year (to help us would be to help themselves) then the State of Michigan could recover the loss of tax revenue and business's would also see the positive of people earning more equals people spending more money. But, no conservative has to listen to what I think cuz it's just my two cents.

My complaints are 1) Republicans supporters that complain about Democrats raising taxes but are ok with republican's raising taxes (yes, I have read anti Obama remarks from some here.) and 2) capping (or reducing) the film industries tax breaks and thus, making every movie project pull out of Michigan. Yea - that's a great idea, kill those jobs altogether. And 3) taxing the retired community......WTF? Does he really expect thos people to stay here? I mean really. And how absurd if some pro conservative party to bash one party for implementing taxes and applaud their own party for doing the same damn thing. So let's see (if some have missed things) the new Republican Governor has effectively put more people out of work, raised taxes, and he has the gall to say this will be best for all of those still living here. So where's the good part to all of this that I am not seeing?

Sorcerers apprentice with Nicholas Cage. Was interesting. -
This one I think is more accurate. First they put away the dealers, keep our kids safe and off the street. Then they put away the prostitutes, keep married men cloistered at home. Then they shooed away the bums, then they beat and bashed the queers, turned away asylum-seekers, fed us suspicions and fears. We didn't raise our voice, we didn't make a fuss. It's funny there was no one left to notice when they came for us. I guess there will always be those that refuse to speak up for other people's rights.

When they came for the Jews and the blacks, I turned away When they came for the writers and the thinkers and the radicals and the protestors, I turned away When they came for the gays, and the minorities, and the utopians, and the dancers, I turned away And when they came for me, I turned around and around, and there was nobody left... .....someday.

If one city council says that neon signs are a distraction and are to be outlawed then I ask, why are there still distracting lighted up signs on the freeway distracting drivers with messages while they drive at 70 mph? If a neon sign is a distraction at 35 mph wouldn't it be worse at 70? I love our governments use of double standards.

Full Story Here. This ban should get banned. Neon signs are Americana. They are part of our history. They help business attract customers. And really, is this city council saying they have nothing better to do than ban neon signs? After reading this story it made me think, "what's this country coming to?" -- Where are our freedoms going? Sheesh! I like neon signs and they have always helped me find companies I was driving around looking for. IMO, they aren't an eye sore but rather, they are America. Leave the neon signs alone city council. .
