  1. I had no idea so many here would take interest in this debate over a word but it's really cool. I stand corrected, ouch thus - is a word.
  2. That is strange. One incident was eye catching but several? Within a week no less. I highly doubt this is connected to anything biblical - I think it could be more along the lines of some weapon being tested (IMO). Sound frequencies have been proven to kill and you can produce sounds that human ears can not detect. Developing a weapon that can use a frequency to kill is highly dangerous (obviously) and I wouldn't put it past our (or any) military to develop such a thing.
  3. While discussing language with a friend, we stumbled upon something that we can't seem to agree on. And that is, whether or not "ouch" is an actual word. Crazy it sounds I agree. I say, "ouch" is not a word but an audible sound used solely to describe pain to various degrees. They insist since it is spelled using letters that it is in fact, a word. I disagree with this last part based on the fact that, most any sound can be represented using letters when they are used in print or writing. Also, some others I have asked about this insist that it should be a word if it isn't already. To the best of my knowledge the Oxford dictionary is the authority on what constitutes (or is accepted) as official words of the English language. I have done some research on this and have only found that "ouch" is labeled as a sound to represent pain (to various degrees). Any general thoughts/ideas are welcomed.
  4. News Link. What a kick to the head this must be. Can't even begin to imagine how this guy feels right now.
  5. A few things I like about FB.... I have total control over who is in my circle, no unwanted "newbies" to concern myself with. If I get a friend request by someone I don't already know...insta block. Also, there are some subjects that I want to be able to voice my thoughts/opinions without the "play nice" rule. Sorry DGN, while I understand/respect the reason it's needed/enforced here. On FB, I'm free to say things and not worry about getting booted from my circle. There are some cool things about DGN but, I have (I feel) more freedom on FB so I am often on there discussing topics more freely.
  6. I was so tired from last week that I slept most of Sat. Still feeling it a bit but have more energy today.
  7. I've seen those interviews..............she's a rocket scientist just waiting for her break.
  8. Further evidence of a so called health care market showing how little they care about people and more about profit. But no no no, according to some - corporations are not like that and the million dollar for profit health care industry here in the States is better than any of the other industrialized nations on Earth. Yea, to believe that I truly believe you'd need a prescription. The system needs a major over haul.
  9. Yup, so not only does he want to be the only game in town, he's incredibly fucking stupid on top of it. There are many reasons for putting a new bride away from the first, one is to hopefully protect us against terrorism and the second is to help the flow of traffic and commerce across the boarder. I also feel that Windsor and Detroit should get a share of the tolls to help both cities during this down turn in our economy. Just my opinion.
  10. I agree, it's a situation that only he benefits from and on top of that he can close it down thus screwing everyone including our (fragile) economy. I think we have so far been extremely fortunate that he hasn't done such a thing like shutting it down to hold as a bargain chip to get his way. I support the DRIC's efforts to fight him. There is need and demand for a new bridge but I am fiercely against Moroun owning another bridge.
  11. I have been reading about the controversy surrounding construction of a new bridge and billionaire Manuel Moroun of Grosse Point has been trying to derail efforts of the DRIC to construct a new bridge. Mr. Moroun claims a new bridge (not owned by him) would take away business (i.e. profits) from his bridge. But isn't competition the capitalist way of doing things here in America? Wouldn't it be just another monopoly to allow one person to own/control the bridges that would connect Windsor and Detroit? Besides, how can Moroun say for sure that it would hurt his profits? I believe this is just another wealthy individual that only has himself in his actions to derail DRIC. I say let capitalism run free. What's there to fear Mr. Moroun? Capitalism is all about competition, isn't it? Your thoughts please............
  12. By far it does not count. Ford Motors did the right thing and refused a bailout. They fixed their own issues and came back. THAT, is how the other companies should have done things. Isn't that the American way? What's appalling is banks, and other financial companies and corporations, accepting bailouts and turning around and giving upper Mgnt and CEO's big bonuses (because it was in their contracts) all the while denying to loan people money and laying people off. (when average Joe American fucks up they get fired, when Mr. CEO fucks up, he gets a bailout and big bonus.............yea, that's equality). Does that count? When are conservatives going to discuss those things?
  13. I heard it too and I agreed with him 1000%.............giving tax breaks and bailouts to the wealthy is clearly NOT, creating new jobs in the States. I laugh when I hear conservatives talk about how giving billionaires tax breaks is for the good of America because it will create more jobs. Show me the proof that these companies are opening new factories here in America and not in China and I'll start to agree that tax breaks for the wealthy benefits my family. So far, only have seen evidence that it is benefiting the wealthy. How is that good for me again?
  14. IMO, if the United States taxed the life out of these companies for pulling jobs out of America but still want to enjoy tax breaks and bailouts (and penalize them severely)for doing what they've been doing, that they will realize their number one profit market will no longer be the goose laying the golden egg for their benefit only. Maybe that will force them into bringing back jobs to the people of this coun try, and not Chinese workers. Just my opinion.
  15. NPR I commend Sen. Bernice Sanders for standing up and telling the senate what needs to be said. This quote says a lot...... So can any conservative supporter here (that feels the wealthy corporations deserved the bailout) explain to me why China shouldn't be the ones bailing out these wealthy companies instead of the poor and middle class Americans that are working our asses off to make ends meet (and all the while, losing their jobs to Chinese workers)? If companies like GE want to send jobs to China to earn bigger profits, shouldn't there be a law that says they are no longer entitled to receive tax dollars or tax breaks. If the rich want their tax breaks at my (yours and everybody's) expense and they aren't willing to create more jobs here in the United States, why should they be allowed to keep enjoying benefits? (This is another anti American, anti patriotic post by Scar)
  16. It is near Russia, Sarah is a walking encyclopedia. How could she have not helped McCain win the last election when she is clearly, a great political figure.
  17. I think Sarah would make a great president. Then she can spend time with our allies in N. Korea.
  18. No fear of her, just amusement. She doesn't stand a chance in a bid for the white house.
