Ok, so we're poor, and no one wanted to carpool. And I have friends that wanted me to spend time with them. And they haz cheesecake. But, I'll be busy most of the summer, and I want to hear some good music AND spend a night in a Lady Gaga-free zone (Seriously what's wrong with any of you wanting to hear her at CC??) Hope to see one or two of you there!

That's a deep thought. Possibly the deepest on this thread. beanternal has pondered this very issue many a time at the club. The conclusion we came to is "I aint no skank. I a high class gurl an You jus' jealous becouse I be workin' this boys body like whoa." I'm thinking making $3.50/hr after money to the ex blows.

What's the last movie you saw?
the eternal replied to Lillylu29's topic in Movies, Books, Art, TV, Gaming and Computers
Houseguest with Sinbad. It was awful I tried to run away but I found that you don't get very far with a needle in your arm attached to a recycling machine. Now I know what Alex felt like in Clockwork Orange -
What did you sing? What kind of stuff do the have?

We're poor and Ann Arbor's far. PM me and pitch in a bit o gas and we may be in business. I'm still pissed at getting sick the night of the Joy Division thing. I can't believe it's tomorrow. I feel it closing in. I feel it closing in. Day in Day out Day in day out. And we're there. (Though I should check with bean first) BTW, since JD is covered I'm going to go a little pop with my request. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cznha2YTTh0

This thread went from fail to epic win! That song so effectively summarizes my worldview! It's my new favorite song. Oh, and Tzura, I still can't stand Lady Gaga, but if they played Get Away with Murder at CC I would dance to it in spite of myself. Jefree Star's music is better and he's twice the woman Gaga will ever be.

Because my workplace believes in torture, I have to listen to the same 15 songs piped in all day. Alejandro is one of them. I think her body sucks. (I have no interest in seeing a pop star with the frame of a 12-yr old boy.) I think her music sucks. And although I agree that she apes alternative culture and performance art, that just make me more pissed off that she gets the credit, and unlike NIN, which actually shone a light on Industrial for a minute or two, lady gagas music just rakes in cash for Lady Gaga. As for this song, I hated it the first time when it was called Don't Turn Around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RYo0JpT410&feature=related but I hated it less than the version above by Gaga

will be going on a highway to hell at 2P today and is wondering if you would like to join him.

I'm thinking of making feeble broad attempts at intimacy, therefore insulating myself when no one responds. I plan on doing it at 2A and am wondering who'd like to join me.

Oh yah. I was tired and bored, so when Hunhee got up to leave, bean and I looked at each other and were like "Exit, stage left" I thought the first movie of the night was pretty good though. I think it is one of the oddest and most interesting films Brendan Fraser's been in. -
Yah, Jack off Jill were in a subgenre of their own. They were around the same time and wrote lyrics like riot grrls (and I suppose Otep) --- pro-women, political, tough, but were the only 90s grrl band that was goth flavored, as opposed to punk flavored. ------------- Hey, put up an ad at the local independent record stores. There's one on Woodward in Royal Oak and my favorite is Flipside, which is next to the Black Lotus at 14 mile and Main in Clawson. Don't forget Craigslist.

City Club Poll for new night Sunday or Tuesday?
the eternal replied to d:konstruct's topic in Quizzes And Polls
I say the Collective SHOULD pay for the bartenders at CC, AND keep the profits for all the drinks. Oh, and if Osaka gets DM, and everyone else gets This Corrosion. I get these two -
Insert eternal moralizing (I hate quoting myself. I find it egotistical) But I'm not telling you to get over things at someone else's pace. Hell, maybe kat was this way for years. I don't know. Nowhere in my post did I ask you to get over it OR to speed up said getting over. I was making a suggestion. To read it like a mantra. I have friends that write things on their mirror. When they get up in the morning, no matter how they feel, they have to look at it. (Well, technically they could look away or ignore it, or shake a glove at it and proclaim "I fart in your general direction" BUT THEY DON'T) They look at it as a reminder of who they need to be or what they need to aspire to. And it gives them strength. I have a lot more patience than some of your friends, apparently. I was simply suggesting to read something positive, make yourself think of something/someone who is overcoming their pain in the hope that someday somehow in due time---you too will be able to have the strength that they proclaim. There are other perspectives of course--- According to Dr. bean "Grief has no timetable, and people around you are saying insensitive things that they think will get you over it quicker, but in reality, they're just making it worse. People may say they understand, because they've been though pain, but no one has been through what you've been through so they'll never be able to feel your pain, because it is different than their pain and the way you process it is also different from how others do, so you will need to achieve peace with yourself in your own time"

Your post makes me wet Tits McGee--This is what you do. 1. Print out this post 2. Copy this post 100 zillion times 3. Put it all around you. Put it on the things you hold dear. ALL OF THEM 5. Read it. Learn it LOVE IT! REALLY LOVE IT!! 6. Make love to this post. 7. Rinse. 8. Lather. 9. Repeat Although this may seem unorthodox it is still far more acceptable than thread-humping thread-hump v. thread-humped, thread-hump·ing, thread-humps v.intr. Origin--bean's warped little mind 1. a. To follow another poster and quote them. b. To brazenly respond to everything another user posts. He's thread-humping her, and she just takes it. And we're supposed to believe it's all innocent? c. To notice, in a past tense, post-stalking. Did you see all the thread humps last night on this thread? If he threadhumped her anymore, they'd have a baby-post.

I'd love to, if I knew how. I mean it would be so convenient as I just now realized that your location is chained up in my closet (How is it in there any way? Are you comfortable? Need some water?) I think the best I could do is Ian Curtis-style back up vocals. OR I could do THIS BTW kat, do you listen to the riotgrrls? I used to eat up all those female punk bands like college-kid-on-ramen in the late 90s. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjKgiTzLPMs Sadly, since many of them were lesbian feminist activists, they organized a protest against me, after which I was forced to stop eating them up

OK Quick question. Tell us all what kind of band you are. Say what sound you're aiming for and what are your main musical influences for this venture. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm bummed I can't go. For all who are going, if you're okay with a little rock with your electronic ( and I mean little since it's a singer and a programmer, albeit a singer who thinks he's Freddie Mercury) please check out Ghostland Observatory. I've seen them twice in concert and they were great shows. This song burrows into my head and won't leave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZvaql37rcI

I have ribs that have been sitting in the freezer for months, because I don't know what to do with them. Stormknight, you officially have an open invitation to come down and smoke my meat anytime you want. You are an amazing chef. Unfortunately, you are also very far away. Slogo, on the other hand, is nearby, and his meat is more accessible. I feel that just reading your name gets me excited for Manfast. You have great pre-prepared meat. Jerky meat that I will get to taste in a month.

There are very few albums that you hear as a kid and think "This is one of the best albums ever" and then you get older and hear tons and tons of other music, and instead of being embarassed or dismissive, you STILL put on and say "This is one of the best albums ever" But Siouxsie made one of them (if not more)
-
Make it bacon and I'm there. Take it from me, Slogo knows how to prepare his meat. Yay! Anger! Do I declare we are moving on to the next step? I'll write him! ------------------- I had a nice time at Dragonmead last night with some of my fave DGNers. I wish you were all there! Alice in Wonderland was awesome too! Hey Slogo, Cinemark's $1/ticket on the big screen. You should join us sometime!

Ok, first of all, Tits, if you were here, I'd totally kick your ass (metaphorically) and it would have nothing to do with politics Secondly, there IS nothing wrong, per se, with having traditional values, believing in a limited government, and believing in G-d. Just as there's nothing wrong with having progressive values, believing in a comprehensive government that looks out for its most vulnerable citizens, and not believing in a higher power. (Except in the case of Hebrew National hot dogs. Those ARE created by divine intervention and there is no further discussion on the matter) They are just different worldviews and philosophies. (In case you were wondering, mine is right one ) In fact, your question is a tad flawed to begin with. The large majority on here is NOT liberal. Or conservative. There IS NO majority viewpoint There are nothing but minority viewpoints on here even when broken down to overly simplistic groupings. The highest % of political viewpoints (though far less than 50%) seem to be of a -----pure Libertarian nature (Small govt, maximum indiv freedom, liberalized social mores aka civil libertarianism) After that, ---I'd say liberal/leftist. Third most, we have the centrists. They come on and post, and you never know which side they're going to fall on. Oftentimes their views play out like the crowd in Julius Caesar, changing whenever a persuasive argument comes along "Hail eternal!" (3 posts later) "Hail Gaf!" Those people frustrate me the most. But this being a goth board, I need to acknowledge the ACTUAL majority viewpoint. Most people on here are so nihilistic THAT the vast majority of people look at this whole Political forum and think "We should just blow this ENTIRE section off the board, Then so we could watch all the dumb right and left wing whiners complain about how no ones paying attention to their viewpoint---Angry idiots." "Oh fuck it, I'm outta here. I need to go on Facebook and whine about something far more important than this shit---ME" BUT I DIGRESS--- The reason why you see unfortunate manners and viewpoints from liberals from time to time has NOTHING to do with the message, but the message bearers of the conservative mantra. Let's look at the heavy-hitters Glenn Beck, the most recognizable standard bearer of the conservative movement today, taking the torch as of late from Rush Limbaugh Beck is a very shrewd intelligent man. Very few could do what he does. And what does he do? He gets paid multi-multi millions to play on people's emotions, as opposed to their rationality, and whip them all up in a frenzy about doomsday coming tomorrow. He uses hyperbole and Nazi comparisons-galore that have little or no basis in reality. He fear-mongers daily as if every action a Democrat takes will be our last. In Beck's world, it will only be a matter of minutes, no seconds before Obama and Pelosi enslave us forever in a Communist nightmare that we will never awake from. I'm sorry but that's a crock of shit. AT THE SAME TIME, it would ALSO have been a crock of shit to have said the same of George W Bush when he was president. I have to admit, when Obama stood up a month or so back and finally said, Fuck y'all, we're ramming this health care bill down your throats, George W Bush-style, I finally appreciated the bull-headedness of our previous President. W wasn't trying to destroy America. He was simply doing what he thought was best for her. And when he didn't get cooperation, to quote Palin, he "went rogue" And guess what, after eight years of what I thought was the worst policy decisions I'll see in my lifetime, we're still here! ALL of us! No matter what bone-headed anarchist or liberal said the end is near, We all still live and breathe! Almost none of the liberals moved to Canada, MI is the same economic shit-hole it was when Bush took office, and we all have relatively the same standing as we did before. So Tits, the same thing you got a little frustrated with Slogo for pointing out at the beginning of this thread, is in actuality the thing that causes the most ire among people of different views. It's not the philosophy, which any good contrarian would RESPECTFULLY disagree with. It's when you put on the radio or TV---your Glenn Becks or your Rush Limbaughs, who let's face it are entertainers--not pundits--(They got their career starts as shock jocks after all) it's hard NOT to get all defensive and condescending. BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PHILOSOPHY. AS FOR OUR LEADERS IN CONGRESS----- Politics has gotten so, well, political, so they're no longer arguing beliefs and philosophies, they're just justifying the stupid shit their guys are doing all the while trying to claim that the stupid shit the other guys are doing is going to bring about a worldwide meltdown any second. When in the end, all they're doing is arguing about stupid shit. And the good stuff that may be emerging, from a senator here or a representative there, is universally ignored, because g-d forbid we acknowledge a good idea, especially if it comes from a guy that doesn't belong to the same party as our own.

I know you did. (Just like bean thinks I'm supersexy) But you can't wallow forever. At some point, you're going to have to come up for air. We'll be here when you do.

Now that you have cleared off all suitors for yuor heart, a weight should be lifted. You should be happy. No pressures. No boyfriends to please. And now you can have sex with really good looking men! (Can we at least agree on one thing--you were waayyy too good looking for him) No feelings--now you can use men like your little playthings That's a reason to end the pity party, right? Enjoy your freedom!!! Right now! No?? Okay how bout now? Now? Umm... Now?? How bout now?? No.. okay now? But how bou.. -------------- I'm really angry from what I just saw on TV. Fuck Glenn Beck! Seriously. It's not his views that bother me. There are plenty of people on the left that piss me off (No seriously. I just read Dearborn's own Arab American News and in response, I'm thinking of building a settlement right on Michigan Avenue) Glenn Beck had the nerve to shit all over Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year in 09. What's his plan for this year? To unveil "The Plan" which was handed to him from no less than G-D (I'm not even kidding G-d speaks to the Pope--who apparently tells him how to pardon child molestors ANNDD G-d speaks to Glenn Beck) and Glenn Beck's going to enlighten the masses in a March on Washington at the spot where Martin Luther King said his "I have a dream" speech on the exact day he did it. Are you fucking kidding me? I will never claim that G-d speaks to me I will never desecrate religious holidays and cultural milestones with my egotistical ramblings And if using Nazi comparisons is grounds for instant fail, how has Glenn Beck not failed himself back into a fetus, like a Benjamin Button of ignorance? --------------- Oh, and BTW, thank you DGN. As of recently, you have become so Internet Explorer--intolerant, I may have to become one with the Borg, I mean the Firefox for good. I can't see avatars. My words end up in different spot on my posts. Hell, half the time, everyone's post disappears. Have the mods declared a holy war on IE? I get it. The Firefox is great. Praised be those that hallow its name. There will be shame upon those that do not recognize the omnipotence of the Firefox. Ye behold, those who recognize the awesome power of the Firefox. It shines a light where once there was darkness. It lives for those who seek it, but condemns those who do not accept its awesome glory. Hail, thee, Firefox!
