How Did You Pick Your DGN Name? 2.0
Anna Phylaxis replied to Troy Spiral's topic in Quizzes And Polls
Anna Phylaxis started off as my derby name, and then became my early burlesque name before I became Lana Del Taco. -
It’s wild that I never commented in this thread. But really, what wasn’t I bullied for? I was poor, I was ugly, I was too skinny. The boys would tell everybody that I was a pirate’s dream because of my sunken chest. I had very few things of value. In the ninth grade, I was given a purse that my grandmother made for me. It was very popular style at the time, but none of us could afford to buy them from the store. they were girls in my classes. It would do horrible shit to my clothes into my hair. One girl tried to light my hair on fire in Spanish class. That was really scary. I don’t know why almost everything I’m saying happened in Spanish class, though. The boys overheard me talking about how much I loved my purse with the only two friends I had in school. So during Spanish class one day, it disappeared. I got up to go to my next class, and it wasn’t there. I started to panic. There was nothing important in it, other than a lipgloss. But it was the purse. My grandmother made me, and it meant a lot. One of the boys said that he thought he saw my purse in the boys bathroom and he brought me in there, and there were all the other boys. Each one of them took a healthy shit in one toilet, and then they pushed the purse. My grandmother made me into it. I will never forget that as long as I live. my husband just asked me if any of these ass clowns were going to be at the 40 year reunion, next month. I honestly have no clue. I doubt it highly, since most of them I hadn’t seen since middle school. But their words did a lot of damage. I’m still working on undoing the damage.

I want 3 chickens. That’s all that we’re allowed to have in Eastpointe. And I have to get permission from at least one next-door neighbor. Since one is dead, and the other two are young boys, I can walk over there in a skirt and heels with the letter I am pretty sure they’ll sign it. I know that sounds gross, but they’re boys in their 20s. as for my family, I have: A husband, whom I met here. A son (Ian) who is almost 30 A daughter (Jupiter) aged 28 Two pit mixes (Silent Bob & Barb) 4 furry cats, including a Norwegian forest (Dita Von Teeth, Dust Bunny, Milo, Mae) 2 sphynx cats (Boaz & Skyndi Laupurr) 3 parrots: Suzy Hotrod (African Gray), Riley (Blue Crown Conure), Tiki (Sun Conure) 1 Indonesian Blue-Tongue Skink named Fluffy we also feed the ferals in our neighborhood. So yeah, they’re family, but they just visit because they’re hungry. Like college kids.

Oh my gosh. I just reread this for the first time in a million years. And the thing is that he never had a long, extensive conversation or several with me about it. He just felt that I was right for a position as moderator, despite living on the East Coast at the time. It’s weird how I’m coming across so many very old things to bring back a whole lot of memories, on this board.

I’m thinking that, while I am not a fan of the large spider outside of my living room window, I do appreciate the art that she is creating, and the fact that she gets all the bugs

I don’t really feel like I have anything to hide. However, if somebody tried really hard from where I work, but I could find some of my old posts, and that might get me into a little bit of hot water. Then again, whatever I do outside of work is whatever I do outside of work. I wouldn’t mind the option of them not being able to see anything I post, should they ever come looking.

I have a very teeny tiny little cooler type fridge upstairs to keep my edibles chilled. Definitely not enough room, otherwise.

I wouldn’t really say that I have a style. Honestly, I kind of dress like a fucking weirdo. I’ll throw things together that don’t necessarily go together and I’m not afraid to mix prints. And I’m actually my most happy, that way. -

Well, there are plenty of reasons why. I rolled up in here about 2004, after seeing a Gothic Beauty magazine at the Hot Topic where I was the assistant manager. Seriously. I’m not even kidding when I say that. I literally knew nothing of the goth subculture, or what it meant to be goth. I just knew that I had always been a misfit, and lurking here for several weeks made me feel a whole lot more at ease. The people were so cool, in my eyes. Sorry if I offend anybody by calling you cool. So, I joined. I introduced myself, and all I kept thinking was.“I don’t belong here. But I’m still going to join“ I was made to feel right at home, from the start. Phee and Paper Hearts were two of the first people that I made friends with, here. But it quickly grew into something I didn’t expect. I felt good about being here. So good that I decided to get on a plane and come to Detroit, all by myself, to meet everybody. It was a hell of a weekend! I was taken to my first strip clubs, ever. I did shots of whiskey at Luna and threw up everything but my shoes. I went to city club and was unimpressed by the club, but thrilled to death to meet those who came out to say hello. I met my husband here. He was my tour guide, when I came to visit. We were only friends. I was married at the time, and it wasn’t a happy marriage. But I also wasn’t going to step outside of it. He had been through the divorce from hell, losing everything, but his dog. And because I love sarcasm and cynicism, I knew we would be friends for life. My husband and I became best friends, and I couldn’t wait to come back to see everybody! I have never felt that strongly about a group of people or another city in my entire life. I’m from Baltimore, and that’s where my whole life was. I knew I was going to come back. But I didn’t know it was it it was going to be a permanent thing. So for me, it was the people, the smells, the jokes, all of it. And it still is. I didn’t come back onto DGN too much after Jeff and I got married, only because so many people have left and it wasn’t the same. and it made me sad because this is the whole reason that I’m here. All because I looked up a word, joined a forum, and made friends. I know I don’t come out much. Covid can be very dangerous for me. So when I do come out, it’s a big deal. By that, I don’t mean it all of you should flock to me and hang out with me just because I showed up. Not like that at all. but DGN is like home. I’m not here all the time, but I really do like visiting the people that I care about.

I’ve always had a great deal of dislike for him. He’s just a terrible person, in general. But yesterday, I watched a TikTok that broke my heart. This man (in the construction business), was talking about how another friend of his, (also in the same business) was contacted by trumps people to do a $3.5 million job. The man that made the TikTok tried to tell him that he didn’t think it was good for him to do this. His friend advised him that he was working on a pretty airtight contract. In the end, this guy had to sue him. He only got 1.5 million. So he took all of his business holdings, equipment, etc., and sold/cashed out. He paid everybody like he always did. And then he went home and blew his brains out. and I just thought, “Holy shit. That is a horrible thing” and I’m just even more disgusted now. It’s true that he’s got mostly uneducated followers. But he has some who are, or at least think they are. And it just stuns me that our country is in the position that it’s in. He made it “OK“ to be openly racist and bigoted. And I guess I’m just so surprised and disappointed at exactly how many people that is. I am an independent. I have voted all across-the-board. But until I see a truly viable Republican candidate, I’m only voting blue. My home/family dynamic will not allow me to vote red, ever again.

Did you hear about the man with five penises? His pants fit like a glove.

Y’all. I’m going to tell you how to catch a polar bear. You cut a hole in the ice, and then take some frozen peas and just sprinkle them around the opening on top of the ice. When the bear goes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole

Oh, between my one daughter and several friends, including one that does autopsies for a living, I got so much Intel on this dude. My daughter went in there and just got totally ferocious with him on his Facebook page. She told him she was going to make him go viral. He said “please don’t.“ And she informed him that he should’ve thought of that before he came for her mother. Then several friends joined in. I have to tell you that I think it was glorious. I’m just sad that I couldn’t do it myself. But, thanks to several awesome people, if he has a soul left, he’ll be lucky. -

What made my day today was the fact that know_buddy_kares, my daughter, Jupiter, Raev, and several other friends have decided to go after someone for leaving some ridiculous shit in my DMs. He claims to be a good Christian. Clearly, he’s not.
