  4. Just got back from walking the dog. jesus h, where did all those fucking mosquitoes come from???? Now thinking about making some yummy polenta.
  5. blargh. now it's one thirty, and I'm still awake, though I have a giant headache and my face hurts because I've been reading old emails, writing new ones, and crying like a sick baby. I think I'm ready to go curl up with my puppy now. before the sun comes up in two or three hours.
  6. it's eleven o'clock again. I just turned down hanging out with a friend so i could... what... sit here and sulk some more? argh, stupid stupid stupid. also... despising all the damn sunlight. like i said. it's eleven o'clock. pm. and the sun is just starting to set.
  7. sitting at home alone at eleven twenty four, on the night before my day off. have i mentioned that i HATE sleeping by myself? especially when I don't have to sleep at all? damn him and his third shift job...
  8. hmm... trying to decide whether I want to walk the dog, make myself some dinner, or spend a little time on suicide girls... oh the dilemmas. :doh
  9. hmmm.... Okay, i'm going to be a jerk and disregard all requests other than the snowman one, cause i really want to. sorry FC. Anyway... this is a picture of my mom and brothers and I when we lived in Minnesota. I think I was about five in this. I'm the one in blue and pink, just shorter than the snowman. And now, to go back to the regular program, a plant in or around your home.
  10. well... kiernan turned out to be pretty disappointing in the end. the story was great up until the last chapter... i really hate it when they do the whole Deus ex Machina schtick. such a copout. just finished Neverwhere, by gaiman, last week. nice bit of humor in that one. also read The Colour of Magic, by terry pratchett. it reminded me of reading him when i was younger, and a bit about the Death of Rats, the grim reaper for rats. i laughed aloud quite a few times. now, i'm thinking i need a library trip.
  11. pretty close to my situation. i wasn't propositioned though, i saw one of troys posts in a thread i was reading, and thought "heck, i live near there, let's give it a shot!" and lo, here i am. years later. not a lot of words later, but hey, we all have our ways.
  12. i'm currently most of the way through "the world and other places" by jeannette winterson, whom i adore in all her english artsy dyke glory. her writing is incredibly vivid, and very sexy. i highly recommend "art and lies," though i also recommend skipping the first chapter in that book, as it's too slow for the rest of the story. and i just started "threshold" by caitlyn kiernan yesterday. it's delightfully creepy, and also very english. she has a wierd tendancy to connect words, like quicksoft or snakehiss or glassgreen. they're effective, but sometimes distracting for their unusual qualities.
  13. Hooray for Clive Barker! I just picked up the second Abarat book, though it'll be a week or two before i get to read it. The sad part is that I didn't even know it was coming out until last night when I saw it on the bookshelf at Title Wave. I'm ashamed of myself: he is afterall my very favorite author. I am also currently reading Chuck Palahniuk's new book of short non-fiction. It's not all that I hoped it would be, but some of the stories are quite hilarious. I have to finish it ASAP. I actually bought the book when he came to town for a reading, and got it signed by him for my brother. It needs to be in the mail soon. On a side note, Chuck is a very laid back kinda guy, though much shorter and skinnier in person than i expected. I'm also reading "Under a Glass Bell" by Anais Nin, as well as a very very good book by a guy named Brady Udall titled "The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint." I highly recommend it for a good laugh, as well as a very realistic look at the human character. The Anais Nin on the other hand is very mediocre.
