Holy fudge sticks... why does this sound familiar? maybe too familiar. Seeing people not being able to stand up for themselves, living in fear, turning the other way when "wrong" happens, I am not sure how you feel about this but it makes me feel pins and needles inside. You may as well just go over there and put the little guy (the animal in agony) out of his misery and call it good deed.

I've known people like "that" in different "situations". Sickens me also. I am truly sorry that you are encountering such persons. They are the kind where "talking" and "being civil" are absolutely useless. It's like you can't be honest with a liar, and you can't teach an idiot. I am not sure how you are going to make any resolve. Perhaps move? Some things are out of our reach and we can't save everyone but I feel the same frustration as you when it comes to those animals. Wish I had a solution...

If you are able to hear them, can you record their "abuse"? Or is there a visible area where you can record them in the act? Perhaps outside in the backyard? That's truly disturbing. You can help your little friends with little acts such as letting your neighbour's mail get mysteriously disappear, or make appear a brown bag of human poop on their front door... just to name a few
