I think the guy who wrote that article concentrated too hard on stating why it's not gender play and spent no time at all on actual history. Men have been the predominant makeup wearers throughout much of history. Just look at any art from the 16th through the 19th centuries and all the men (at least upper class men) wore makeup. Our founding fathers wore makeup. When and why it fell out of male fashion and switched over to predominantly female fashion, I don't know. But what is sad is that when men try to do historically manly things like wear skirts, the color pink, heeled shoes, makeup, etc. they are chastised as being feminine. I'm all for women having equal rights but dammit, why did they have to steal our fashion outright then call us fags if we attempt to reclaim it?

I like The Princess Bride. In the beginning, Fred Savage isn't a fan of romance. "Is this a kissing book?" But in the end, "No, it's okay. I don't mind so much." Ah, how quickly they mature.

I don't know what you're talking about. I have my dial set to 90.9 FM and I'm treated to a wonderful variety of songs in a couple different genres and I don't think I hear a repeat in about 3 days. Sure, there are a couple favorite artists the DJs like to play, but they vary which songs get air time to keep things fresh. Great station; I don't think I've changed my dial in well over 4 years.

Bah! I rarely ever wear garb to RenFest. I've worked at both MIRF and SLRF enough that my opinion is, if I'm just visiting as a patron, I'll be wearing street clothes. I'm only in garb if I'm getting paid to be there. Especially since if I'm in garb and a fan sees me, then I might be expected to perform, and I don't perform without $$. And you can't solicit money unless you are a performer paid to be there. So I just wear street clothes. It's less messy, more comfortable, etc. P.S. - Most performers make fun of about 90% of the garb anyway for anachronisms or just plain stupidity.

I was fortunate because as I kid I only read one comic book ever. It was a Superman comic and I thought it sucked. So, I never got into that whole comic book thing. Therefore, I can go to the movies with an open mind and I usually love the comic book movies, though there are a few exceptions.

In that case, you're only single if you're a 1-9, but based on pictures of you I've seen, I'd say you're at least an 11. So congratulations; you're a double.
