I liked it in the X-Wing computer game when they also gave the A-Wing concussion missiles. Now that rocked!

Oh non-magic 8 ball ... TaysteeWonderBunny and I are getting married on October 10, 2010. Is there any significance to that date? Like, if you write it out 10/10/10, take the slashes away to get 101010, convert that binary number to decimal to get 42, then multiply those two digits together (4*2), do you get any special number?

It's been a while since I've last been, and it will probably be a while before I can go again, so tomorrow night, I will be there! For everyone I haven't met yet, please come introduce yourself. I'm not hard to find; I look just like my avatar pic (the one without the body paint). Or, just ask someone to point me out. For all those I do know, say hi. I miss you.

X1023 I'm not against the new system per se. What I've seen of the rules (table top), I really like the changes. As for the meta-plot, setting, and all the other changes, I still don't know what I think about those. It's far more open ended and has a lot of options and flexibility. If the new system was my first exposure to the game, then I would probably love it. However, I have invested sooo much time and money in the old system that the changes really are frustrating. Everything I've come to know and love is gone and it's really disheartening. I don't have the time or money to invest in the new system. Someday I might but by then they'll probably change it again. As for the LARP, sounds interesting but I'll have to pass. Time and money are issues. I just finished grad school and I'm getting married soon so my efforts are focused on job hunting, family planning, etc. PS - Long live Wraith!

Here's something I posted on LiveJournal (remember LiveJournal? yeah, neither do I) on 3/29/05: Myocarditis can be pretty scary. My cardiologist said it would probably take me two years to heal and then I'd only ever have 80% recovery. After six months I was at 100% and the cardiologist couldn't believe how quickly and fully I healed. I guess that's good for me. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Myocarditus. Or whatever it's called and however you spell it. I'll have to find my LJ writeup from years ago and repost here.

Doesn't this remind you of the Leland? They'd be too cheap to paint any of the wires though.

For the purposes of this discussion, let us say you are Chinese, born in China, and have lived in China all your life. China is not at war with anybody right now. But Chinese law says that you have to give up your bed and sleep on your floor so a soldier can sleep in your bed. Oh, and you have to feed him too. You were late to work in the morning because the soldier took your car and your boss fired you for it. That is all perfectly legal in China. You wanted to complain about it on DGN but the Chinese government says you cannot use "IsleofRhodesEnt", you have to post using your real name. When you click on "Post", your response does not appear for at least 24 hours and when it finally shows up, somebody has changed it to say how much you love China. Are you okay with any of this? Why or why not? Chinese law says that everything that happened to you was perfectly legal. Does that feel right? Would you change the laws if you could? What would you change them to? Why do you feel this way? Based upon your answers, I may be better able to formulate a response as to my views on the US Bill of Rights.

It's a good thing the agents were able to confiscate and destroy that tape since the Fourth Amendment is only a privilege which can be revoked at any time, and I'm certainly glad that video was not allowed to be posted on YouTube since the First Amendment can be given to us or taken from us at the whim of the government.

I'm actually going to take the other side on this one. I don't enjoy getting wasted, puking, and doing crazy things I'll never remember. I like getting a little tipsy and maybe even drunk on occasion, but I still like to be in control, drink responsibly, and never drive under the influence. Because of that, I will only ever drink beer at City Club because I know exactly what I am getting, what it will do to me, and how long that will take. I enjoy mixed drinks, but I'll never do those at City 'cuz I don't know how much of what goes into them, and I'll never do shots. There are just too many variables involved and it may lead me down a path I don't want to go. Everyone else may love Marvin's drinks, but I prefer to stay safe.

True, some guns are stolen from homeowners who didn't secure them properly, but did you miss my post explaining that a majority of guns on the black market are stolen from police, FBI, and military caches or are smuggled in from China (where guns are banned, go figure), Mexico (and they blame us for guns entering their country), the middle east, and elsewhere? I just read recently that the US gave thousands of weapons to Afghanistan to help gain independence and secure their democracy then the Afghans turned around and sold most of the weapons or traded them for other goods. Now many of those weapons are filtered through various markets and ended up in the hands of Al-Qaida. So, our soldiers are being shot with their own weapons. So, you are correct that some privately owned weapons are stolen by criminals, but that percentage is very small compared to how many government owned weapons end up in criminal hands. I would much rather trust the stranger who lives next door with weapons than any bureaucracy.
