  1. It's been completely dead in here for 2 hours, so why do 2 people have to call at the exact time someone walks through the door to check in? And, why do they have to have all the complicated questions?
  2. I work in the hotel industry and have done management and hiring in the past... I could review your resume if you want. Feel free to PM.
  3. I was trying to see if Val and I had the same day off next week, so we could host. But, alas no... Odds are we'll be able to start after the holidays.
  4. I would if it helps cover gaps between jobs. It won't hurt and it shows you can work independantly.
  5. There are a large number of questions for your goth night post. Could you answer those? kthanxbye

  6. Were you able to get a time slot in January?

  7. You could just be a gentleman and come when we tell you... But, methinks you like the whips and chains...
  8. I dunno.... This is the first time I've had, what I consider a stable home environment. But, the housefire 2 years ago throws the sense of home out the window for me. Eventually, it will seem more like home, I hope.
  9. Yeah, I see that in my line of work too. We warn and then we boot the person out if they are smoking in a non-smoking area. And, you're going to get rulebreakers anywhere for any number of things. We can't punish everyone for a just a few being asses. I can't stand it when people get up on their soapbox and try to convince the people walking by to join their religion. It severely pollutes my ears, but I don't contend them and I don't rally to stop them, because it is their right to freedom of speech. If I had kids, I'd be even more severely offended, but I still wouldn't try to take their rights away. They could be trying to preach the Flying Spaghetti Monster and I would defend their rights to do it. Even if in the end, I don't want to hear it. I've met a person severely allergic to feathers. She can't stand next to a person in a down jacket. Shopping is literally hell for her in the winter. But, banning down is insane. Just for a few people, we go without feathers? No nice warm down comforters... It's a down-ward (hehe)spiral. It really is... I would be fully amiable to working on my days off towards passing new legislation that gets rid of this smoking ban. At some point, a group will start up, but I don't have the resources to start one. I sign petitions for pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and other things that I believe we deserve choices on as individuals. I will do my part, to change the laws that hold our freedoms back, and I will defend someone else's right to those freedoms.
  10. Apparently I'm going after work. I seem to have no choice in this matter.
  11. I'm so glad I have the next 2 days off.
  12. But in your scenario, you chose to enter an establishment that permits smoking. Pre-antismoking law, most restaurants and public places had already gone non-smoking. You can choose to support those establishments or you can choose to enter an establishment that allows smoking. If you have entered an establishment that allows smoking- you have not been forced to endure cigarette smoke. I make a personal choice on a regular basis to support establishments that allow smoking. I have, specifically, gone out of my way to support smoking, because I saw this coming. So, I did what I could to support my freedom to choose the establishments I frequent because they allow smoking. Well, if that's the case. I'll do my best to put them out of a job, because I'm going to stop going out as of May. I realize they're more stuck in this economy to end up in a crappy low-paying job, but that should be an incentive to go to school or take some adult-ed classes to get into something better. If I wasn't happy with my job, I'd be working my way into something better, but I happen to like what I do. And, I work in an environment that allows smoking. (in our lounge) I could care less that I'm exposed to it. But, I also know that damn near everything causes cancer. My grandma died of throat cancer in her 90s and she only smoked for a few years in her early 20s. If I'm gonna get cancer, I'll get it, but I truly doubt I'll ever suffer that much from smoking.
  13. In the same token. If you went to a smoke free bar, you would be fine. But, why ban smoking at all bars? That's not right. It would be the same as the government banning turkey to protect your son. You have to worry about whether turkey is added in his food, so to make it easier- no label reading- we just ban turkey. We can always have tofurkey for the holidays. It's safer, and you don't have to worry about him accidentally ingesting turkey at a friend's house.
  14. Well, we need to ban all allergens then. Peanuts are a big one. So, no more nuts! Feathers. Perfume. What else can we ban to make you safer? Candles? Bleached flour? When have we gone to far?
  15. I just want to be alone and far from any people...
  16. We could meet up in the food court at 5:30 pm?
  17. I'm having an emo day... If I'm breathing, I'm feeling emo today.
  18. I can't go on high floors near an open window. The compulsion and simultanious fear of jumping out the window is too much. Part of me just wants to feel the wind rush against me and the smarter part living in near constant fear of the adventurous part just wants to vomit at the thought. So, I try to avoid windows on high floors.
  19. I will not be attending. I'm in a foul mood.... I don't want to give the bouncers a hard night, and today's mood is liable to get random people slapped for nearling nothing. (and I'm normally a pacifist, but I dunno...)
  20. For those very shy people out there who either want to help or have suggestions. You are welcome to PM me. Let's get this going... I'd love to see it happen!
  21. Cher... You're welcome to help. I'd like multiple people working on matching questions. I'll review them and come up with a base list... I'd like to have this part together by Christmas. The matching questions are extremely important. Which is why I'd prefer them researched, so we get questions that long term couples feel are some of the most important facets of their relationships. I also need topic card questions, so people know what to talk about. (shy people just blank for ideas sometimes)
  22. I have 12 Oaks VIP passes... Anyone wanna go this Tuesday the 15th?
