  1. Ugly? On what planet? Sheesh... I must really need to get my eyes checked... :D
  2. Just a couple of things... First, I know I'm a bit biased here on this point, but have you ever tried a professional massage? Some factors re: mood can be influenced by your body's state of relaxation, circulation and well-being. A decent massage session can often be of great help. Secondly, my DJ colleague, Randy Bartlett, promotes his method he calls "The 1% solution." Basically it boils down to making small improvements over time. See, the best outcomes aren't the result of scrapping something and making a wholesale change, or some huge upheaval, but of very small improvements done over days, months or years. I have done this with my DJ show and it has taken me to new heights. And, of course, you can apply this to just about everything in life. Persistence is key; just keep on moving forward. I keep lists. I have a list of everything I want to accomplish and the steps needed to get there. It's the first thing I look at when I wake up. Each day, I try to cross off at least one item. Even when I can't, I can usually find some small thing I can do to get me closer, be it a phone call, email or online post/query that will push me onward to eventually checking off something. When you stretch this out over time, it's basically a "no fail" solution. And I get to go to sleep each night knowing that there's nothing more I could've done that day. Tomorrow, then, is truly a new start! You've heard the expression, "time is money"? Well, even when I don't have the money to throw at something, I CAN take my TIME to do it! I can post. I can email. I can research. I can mobilize my friends, family and colleagues. There is ALWAYS something I can do! That YOU can do. And that has VALUE - it's like an endless debit card. Given all of that, it's all about staying positive. Change comes slowly. But change comes to those willing to work to make it happen. It's a bit like working with fascia for us massage people. You don't just go in and press the crap out of it! That will hurt like hell and, in the end, just make things worse. But use a minimum of force and apply it over time, and you can work magic! You just need to be doggedly persistent. Keep on keepin' on. Do what you can. Do all you can. And don't stop! Thanks for all you do!
  3. The law: Well, Mr. Manafort, the bill comes to 12 to 29 years. How would you like to pay for that? Manafort: I would like to use my rich white privilege card. The law: Fine. The total comes to 47 months. SMH
  4. As always, I'll be there if work allows... which it does, more than not. LOVE the cards, but only save one for me when everyone else who wants one gets one. Thanks!
  5. Gotacha. So... prime time for foot massage!
  6. Do you know how your arches have fallen? (In other words, is it muscular or structural/bone?) If it's the former, you can improve it quickly and pretty easily.
  7. I know a few things that might stop that.
  8. To quote MST3K: "Just repeat to yourself, 'It's just a show', I should really just relax"!
  9. As usual, I will be there if work allows. A card would be awesome, but don't go out of your way as I could very well be sidelined again. (Hopefully not!) With any luck, I'll see y'all soon.
  10. Yeah... dumb ol' work. Sorry to have missed y'all. I have a few photos, too. I'll show ya mine if you show me yours! 😄
  11. Just remember: the word "computer" is actually rooted in the word, "confusor," which means: 1. "tool that causes someone to be bewildered or perplexed" or 2. "a person or device that makes things more complex and/or less easy to understand." (*Also see "politician.")
  12. So sorry to hear. My heart goes out to you and yours.
  13. That goes for me, too. I may ask to have my schedule end at 7, so that I can at least make most of it. Missed you guyz!!!
  14. As usual, if the Work Gods permit, I will be there! (And if not, I'll be making money, so don't cry for me Argentina.) Would love a card, please! Thanks - I always look forward to see what you come up with!
  15. I had the exact same thing happen to me last night! I was fine until roughly 8:00 PM. Then I literally fell asleep while waiting at a traffic light. Not dangerous - I wasn't sleepy at all while actually driving. But it was weird. Lethargic as hell today. Been up about 4 1/2 hours and even had lunch and still blah. Gotta be a weather thing. Next resort: COFFEE!!!!
  16. Sociopaths don't have empathy; it is beyond them. Fortunately most of us are NOT sociopaths. But there are two things going on: the number of sociopaths is going up. Nobody quite understands the reason. Like autism, it is thought to be a difference in the basic makeup of the brain. The second, and worst part, is that empathy is a bit like a muscle; if not exercised, it will atrophy. Back when I was in school, we were constantly taught to "put yourself in the other guy's shoes." This basically encouraged us to see other people as ourselves, fully human, with all the same desires, albeit maybe differing beliefs, goals, etc. I seldom ever hear this idea. Educators may take it for granted. This is a huge mistake. Beyond empathy, it is far more socially acceptable to publicly display hatred than love. Say "love" in a group of men (and sometimes women, these days) and you'll get eye-roll, at best, and outright derision at worst. Cuddle, kiss and other forms of "PDA" (public displays of affection) are shamed, confronted and sometimes even illegal, yet if two people start brawling on the street, people will gather to watch. I have seen parents encourage their children to "get a good look." And people allow it until the cops show up. There's something wrong with this picture.
  17. Take heart, Kat! Remember: you didn't gain it all in a few days, months... it may have taken YEARS. So focus on the same type of baby steps, but only in the other direction. If you can lose a few ounces a day, that will translate into pounds each week. In a few months, or a year, you'll see a big difference. Also, don't let water retention make you crazy! Just ride it out. It's temporary. A law of physics is this: if you burn more calories than you ingest, you cannot help but lose weight. It's a fact. Diet is WAY more important than exercise! Exercise is great for developing muscle tone, but crappy as a weight loss method. (Ever notice how efficient our bodies are? Ever watched the "calories burned" counter on an elliptical or stationary bike at the gym... at the same pace that paint dries?) By all means, stay active! Movement is life! But it's all about the calories. (Carbs are just a different form of sugar, ultimately. But if you must choose between carbs and sugar, choose the carbs, because the body must convert them before using them, making them actually "cost" energy to consume.) Ultimately, though, it's calories. </unsolicited advice> Best of luck!!!
  18. As usual, if nobody needs me to rub them after 8, I plan on being there. Would LOVE a card! I'll also pack that leather punch while I'm thinking about it for Troy. Thanks!
  19. Man, Troy does EVERYTHING cooler than me! Anyway, I hope your birthday ROCKED!!!
  20. If the universe cooperates, I plan on being there. If there's a card left, I'd be happy to have one please! Thanks in advance!
