I’ve been sewing for about 10 years. I follow patterns, some times I modify them a bit, but generally I don’t need to. I always repeat to myself “it doesn’t have to be perfect” or “it’s not a wedding dress”, because the truth is I’m my own worst critic, most people aren’t looking at the garment that close to see mistakes I might have made. Most people are just impressed I made clothing at all, like it’s witchcraft, or should I say “stitchcraft”. The take away point is, practice makes perfect.

They are but not until 10 pm. Sadly I will be home in my pajamas by then. We go as a family, so I don’t get to stay too late

I’ve been tempted to cross the bridge and come to Asylum, maybe someday. -

What are these events? Do you just drop in when you can? Or do you need to be there the whole time? Is there a section reserved for DGN, or do you need to make reservations this week based off a headcount of RSVPs? -

I would be thrilled! And you’re welcome. I love chatting about music with people. -
Conventions: There is also 3 FrankenFest events coming to Port Huron, Lansing and Detroit. Sadly the Detroit show is typically the same day as HearseFest. Also there will be the Wicked Bizarre in Livonia in August. Speaking of Bizarres also don’t forget Theater Bizarre. Museums: Cranbook or University of Michigan Natural History Museums, U of M also has an archeology museum I’ve heard good things about. Food: I believe there is a place called the Witch’s Hat Brewery which is out by South Lyon I think. I really like to go to Supernatural Brewery in Livonia. Legendary Axe in Westland has a cool vibe to it as well. Shopping: Rude Trendz in Westland, and Showtime in Hamtramck (yes that Showtime, they are back), Earthlore in Plymouth. Other: Plymouth MI also has cemetery and ghost tours. Wayne MI does a cemetery tour as well. The Westland Historical Village usually does a paranormal investigation thing every year. Also Eloise in Westland does ghost tour/paranormal investigations, they also have a haunted attraction at Eloise if that is your thing. And the State Wayne Theater has a live shadow cast of Rocky Horror twice a month.

Pop Up Goth Club - Western Suburbs

Yes I’m interested, any frequency you recommended is fine by me, but once a month would be amazing. I like the idea of the same place each time, but I recognize this might not work best for all or even be attainable based on available venues. -

Ask you shall receive. Here is some relatively new bands and suggested songs with their release year. Most of this is dark wave/cold wave, it’s what I turn to most in my old age, ha ha. Aurat - Waiting for You (2020). This band is unique, the female vocalist sings in both English and Urdu. Box and the Twin - Zerfall; and The First Dream (2019) Cruel Reflection - Ded; and Lester Diamond (2018). That first suggestion (Ded) is just about the loveliest song about being miserable you could ever hope to hear. Dance My Darling - Katherdrale (2020). Honestly this is the only song to date I’ve heard from this band that I like. But in my opinion it is really good. Forever Grey - Common Coffin (2020); and The Other Side (2022). Lebanon Hanover - Alien (2018); and Golden Child (2020). Molchat Doma- CyAHO; and HaAHe (2018), please note these song titles are in the Russian alphabet (the band is from Belarus). I did my best to write them with English characters. Plastique Noir - Rose of Flesh and Blood; and Fugitive Dawn (2011). This is a Brazilian band but they sing in English, they have been around for quite a while but I only discovered them a few years ago Push Button Press - Night Out; and Mire and the Sea SYZXYX Remix (2018). Night Out was easily my favorite track of that year. She Past Away - Durdu Dunya (2019); and Ruh (2012). This band sings in Turkish. Again I did my best to spell the song titles in English characters. Soft Kill - Borders Comfort (2011); and Whirl (2016). TR/ST - Sulk (2012). Twin Tribes - Shadows (2018); Fantasmas (2019). If you ever have the opportunity to see them live, go! It was such a good live performance. Vision Video - Kandahar (2021); and Death in a Hallway (2022). The goofy Goth Dad TikTok’s aside, this band is actually pretty good and worth listening to. Witch of the Vale - Commemorate (2020) That ends my list…. For now… Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk -

It’s a little over 3 years but I really dig the track “I Can Hear Your Tears” by Ritual Howls off their album Rendered Armor. In fact that whole album is good. Also “Monsters” by Empathy Test, “Fate” by Boy Harsher, and “Goth Beach” by Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys because it is hilarious! There is so much good music out there these days, I could go on for pages, but I won’t.
