  5. I always felt that walking up to a woman showing a lot of cleavage and motor-boating them would not work well.
  6. I have a writing project that I'm calling "Where All Da Freeky Bitches At?: A guide on how to not pick up a girl at a goth bar" that I could use some anecdotes for. What was the worse pick up line you've endured? What kind of wrong assumptions about you were made by a tourist based on your style of dress? 'Fess up!

What is the correct way to dispose of a dead whale? "The humor of the entire situation suddenly gave way to a run for survival as huge chunks of whale blubber fell everywhere."
  8. I see what you did there, Phee...don't think you've been able to get away with it.
  9. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY in the scene has anything on this kid - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/01/boy-cries-blood-video-cal_n_274508.html
  10. Out of curiosity, are you Dallas/Ft. Worth based? Was down there a few years ago and impressed with the layout of the Church.
  11. I caught ED:The Musical in Toronto about 6 years ago, in the first week of it being performed. It was awesome. The music is catchy and fun, the storyline is mostly Evil Dead 2 with a bit of Evil Dead in it, and the splatter-zone is just what it sounds like - sort of a cross between a Gallagher and a Gwar show. Mostly fake blood, but still wear some janky clothing you don't mind getting messed up a bit (the fake blood did wash out and didn't stain). I will be going to see it again now that it will be playing in the area, and I highly recommend that everyone run-don't-walk to catch this show.
  12. is a TroySpiral.net veteran curmudgeon.

  13. Run Lola Run In The Mouth of Madness The Doom Generation Let Sleeping Corpses Lie Murder By Death
  14. Are you thinking about classic cult movies (which I'll suggest Attack of the Killer Tomatoes & Plan 9 From Outer Space) or are you thinking also bad movies that are fun to mock?
  15. With early cyberpunk fiction, I can understand adding in the -punk suffix - the general story model was a rebellious hacker who was going up against the corporate oligarchy/dystopian governments/the Man in general...throw in that the early stuff was published in the early-mid 80s, when punk was still pretty relevant as a call for social change and it makes sense. Since then, the derivative styles of speculative fiction that has spawned from cyberpunk seem to take the suffix as a means of portraying the mash-up of different eras/technology. Just some more random thoughts from my post-NyQuil fogged mind.
  16. Been on a Charlie Stross kick with Halting State, The Atrocity Archive, and Jennifer Morgue. Stross and John Scalzi are my currently my favorite sci-fi authors-of-the-moment. Halting State - Tracking down the mind behind the robbery of the banks in what's basically World of Warcraft. The Atrocity Archive - Cthulhu-punk meets spy thriller with a healthy dose of mathematics-as-necromancy. Throw in some universe-jumping Nazis for good measure. Nazis...I hate those guys. Jennifer Morgue - Follow-up to The Atrocity Archive with a healthy dose of Ian Fleming.
  17. I blame William Gibson and Bruce Sterling for the ****-punk suffixing of things. I'll agree with ya in it being fantastic speculative fiction, regardless of what word you want to fill in the blanks with.
  18. Some of the later Snog albums are a very fun mix of acoustic-industrial-country. A little bit of cognitive dissonance but fun.
  19. I 2nd this motion from my esteemed colleague.
  20. It's available through Comcast On-Demand right now. Aside from that, no Michigan showings that I can find as of yet.
  21. Came across this via BoingBoing today, decided that the target market for these people really should be the Detroit club kids: http://www.tacticalcorsets.com "Going to City Club? Don't be caught dead on Cass without our Kevlar corset!" If anyone ends up with one of these, share your thoughts on how (un)comfortable it is compared to a standard corset. Enjoy.
