  1. AARrrrr! those be REAL pirates & real pirates be vile, foul creatures! a'course, ninjas're also vile, foul creatures, what might bathe more regular-like...
  2. i still feel stuffed from lunch at 2pm today!? wtf?? and i feel for a friend...
  3. not lame at all - treating yourself well is a great way to work your way back to positive energy!
  4. i would never recommend my method to anyone, ever. my issue is that i always try to avoid my feelings, so if i want to get past them, i have to allow myself to give in to them, feel them, let them work their way out, so to speak. this typically involves drinking for a few days, and wallowing in my depression, until i naturally come back out of it. i'm usually good for a few/several months after that, unless triggered by something specific.
  5. pumped!! just finishing a workout!! *flexes*
  6. this one's awesome! wish i knew how to do that...
  7. i'm all for people getting healthier, but i don't know that i'd place so much emphasis on omega-3, & -6 fatty acids, when they are a small (but yes, essential) part of the overall key to a healthy diet. unless you have your daily "diet" in order, there's really no reason to supplement anything. you can get 3's and 6's from foods, and eating the whole food is much healthier for you than using a distilled supplement. rather than buying fish oil, buy some fish (whitefish, salmon, halibut, etc.) ground flax seed, walnuts, shrimp, halibut, tofu, etc... no need for supplementation! i've been researching this concept recently, and while i haven't found a lot of scientific research to back it up, it does make sense to me. one thing to remember - there is no "miracle pill" you can take which will suddenly correct all of your issues. research, learn how your body works; optimize your diet with a goal of balance; until you understand how your body works, temporarily monitor your caloric intake/expenditure. (if you're trying to lose weight, it's entirely possible that you're eating *too few* calories, so your body is in "starvation mode" and storing anything it can get it's hands on!) and if it seems to overwhelming, by all means, ask someone you trust for advice/direction - but remember, don't take anything you hear as gospel! ask/read many sources, compare what they all say, and make your own decisions! (i guess that applies to everything in life, huh!?) =)
  8. i do - i don't have a safe area for oly lifts, nor do i have bumper plates, so i don't do those. i'm a freeweight guy, however, and have my own rack, almost 500# in plates, two full-size oly bars (45#ea.). i always stick to full-body compound movements, with some "vanity" lifts added in at the end. lift 4 days/wk, run 2-3 days/wk, one rest day/wk. workout A consists of below-parallel squats, bench & seated cable rows, with some shoulder work tacked on at the end. workout B consists of deadlifts (currently romanian d/l's) OHP (overhead press), and lat pulldowns (or pullups, depending), with some arm iso's tacked on the end. am currently trying to come up with some GPP (strongman-type conditioning) to substitute on occasion. i've got a 200# log out back that i've been thinking of shouldering for laps around the house, but i'm not sure how it will work out. i've been reading/studying this for a few years, although i've only recently starting actually lifting again, so if you'd like to discuss any of it, feel free to pm me.
  9. disappointed to be home again, but thankful for the new perspective that time away always affords me...
  10. wiat, you mean there *is* more to life than work and sleep? when did this happen? why was i not informed?
  11. oh, and i'm getting ready for bed, but wishing i was actually tired enough to sleep...
  12. yes it does - it's just slower than watching the grass grow...
  13. disconcerted, yet anticipatory. and apparently, unnecessarily grandiloquent...
  14. you know what? i get that the swastika can be an offensive symbol, but don't forget the germans stole it from the hindu culture. it's much older that hitler's reign, and had a much different use and meaning then. read here - first real link i found. here's a quote... (my bolding) as i said, i understand it offends some people, but your condemnation of anothers belief isn't exactly a great way to communicate that. and how about knocking of the exaggerated sarcasm? it was offered in the nature of it's original use, which was one of goodwill. "let good-prevail". it's not his fault that someone perceived it in a manner in which it wasn't intended...
  15. not to be forward, but if i make it out there, might i attend as well?
