5 posts deleted, as they should have probably been in pm's, and were detracting from the thread...

doods, seriously, as a fellow board member, could we dispense with the poop discussion and description in this thread? i really don't give a shit (HA!) about what your bowels are doing every day. if you're really that interested in sharing that kind of info, maybe start a "colon-blow" thread or something, so those of us who really don't want to hear about "aliens" can avoid that thread like the plague!!!

recevering from one of the worst (read: poorest) workouts i've had since starting in december. only getting 4-5 hrs sleep last night obviously didn't help, but shit! i actually did less this time than last, and that's the first time it's happened in 2 months! i'm going ta bed...

you must be recommending the raw food diet then, yes? i mean seriously how the hell are people with a life supposed to not eat any prepackaged foods? yes, a lot of them are crap, but if you spend some time on your first "healthy" shopping trip and read labels, you can find a lot of healthy foods that are prepackaged. also, consider that the things most people take issue with (chemicals & such) are typically only one of maybe 5-10 items *all of which* total less than 2% of the total ingredients of the food item. that means, for example, in 8oz of "stuff" if there are 5 items that make up the 2%, then only 0.032 oz is that particular bad thing. seriously, considering most people aren't even watching what they eat, i really think scaring them away from healthier-yet-easy-to-make foods is detrimental to their goals. i mean, if people can go whole-foods only, more power to them! i've yet to meet one person who was able to go from eating crap, to eating nothing but whole, "real" foods, and maintain it for any length of time. moderation is the key. maybe figure out what the worst thing you currently eat is, and replace that one thing with a healthier alternative. next week (or two weeks) replace another. hell, i mean, if you can track your calories, and know that you're under your goal, and still getting a good ratio of protein/carbs/fats, there isn't even anything wrong with having a little (1/2 cup = @150 cal) ice cream 2-3 times a week. bryers is all-natural, so no chemical worries, etc. point is, no matter what you do, work to improve your diet each week, rather than drastically changing it. just like easing into exercise, you'll be much more likely to stick with it if you take it slow. and cherny, apologies if i seem to be picking on you - i'm not, you just have provided me with some good subject matter on which to expound!

i'm feeling excited, a bit disappointed, a lot cold, a little full, somewhat motivated, mildly anticipatory, semi-energetic, fleetingly distracted, a tad bit isolated/lonely, relatively happy, minorly discontent, a trifle melancholic, transiently social, and unnecessarily verbose. fortunately, each of those applies to an individual topic, not all of them about just one!

gads - that explains SOOO much!!

dood, diet is not worse for you than regular if you consider the fact that i used to drink a 2-litre and a couple 20oz *regular* mt. dews a day. do you realize how many calories that is? 1479 calories!!! that's more calories than some people need in an entire day! my point is, diet is a hell of a lot better than regular as far as losing weight is concerned. i realize that for you, diet has a lot of crap you refuse to consume, but please try not to mislead others about the relative benefits of diet sodas. they can be a great first step on the road to reduction! eventually, it would be wise to quit soda completely, but if you're anything like me, you'll find it difficult, at best. i have resigned myself to allowing myself 1-2 diet dews/day,as a "motivational" treat. i enjoy it, it keeps me happy psychologically, (it doesn't cost me anything, calorie-wise), and not feeling like i'm denying myself a treat, enables me to pass on other, more sugary treats that would expand my waistline. just my thoughts...

weightlifting... *flexes*
-
as someone who has stopped/started with weightlifting several times, i would highly recommend taking the first few workouts *easy*. i'm over 200#, and my first two squat workouts were: 1 set x 12 reps x BW (body weight) 1x12xbar (olympic bar=45#) 2x12x65# the reason for this? i've gone much heavier before, starting up, but i was so sore i could barely move for three days & it took that long before i could attempt my next workout. take it easy, and let your body know what's coming, before you hit things hard. also, rememeber that any time you work a muscle group enough to break it down (which is how it rebuilds to become stronger) you shouldn't work that same *specific* muscle group for 48 hrs. any sooner than that, and you'll hamper/prevent the muscles from rebuilding, and you'll actually make yourself weaker. this applies to weightlifting, but is also a decent guideline when starting a bodyweight exercise regimen. another thing to keep in mind is that you don't grow strong from your workouts, you grow strong from *resting* which allows for recovery. get at least 8hrs sleep if you're working out hard, and be sure to feed your body enough protein. protein is what you use to repair your muscles - if there isn't enough intake, your muscles are only breaking down, not rebuilding. one last thing (because i'm such a party-pooper) is to know the difference between muscle-burn soreness, (try not to *feel the burn* on your first few workouts in order to prepare your body) and joint-damaging pain which can cause injury. "no pain, no gain" doesn't apply, if your knee/elbow/shoulder/etc is hurting. carry on!!

"Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said. He distinctly said "to blave." And, as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff." So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated --" well, i guess that means i'm feeling silly! (and warm finally) had a couple pipes freeze. house was 46 when i got home from work today, been home since 8p, fire started at 8:15, house just passed 64 deg. damn this sub-zero weather! damn it all ta hell!!

not to be a drag, but i'd like to remind people that their weight can fluctuate (depending on your current size and diet) up to #5 in a day. personally, i've seen it myself - in fact, even when i'm eating consistently similar meals for weeks, i will drop 2-3 pounds overnight. water weight, (both intake and waste, from urine/sweat) the actual weight of the food you eat, BM's, etc... i'm not trying to discourage excitement over weight loss, but you may lose 1 lb today, and gain 2 tomorrow, and wonder wtf you did differently to mess up like that, when it may very well just be natural fluctuations. < / end bummer-tude >

i'm feeling that i hope this has nothing to do with what i think it does, or i'm going to be terribly sad and disappointed in people... aside from that, i feel really full - had a nice big chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans, and a salad. good thing too, cuz the only other thing i had time to eat today was cereal this a.m. and chips & salsa this afternoon! i'm also getting tired - time for bed...
