  1. that's why there are "progressed" charts, based on the stars' current locations in the heavens... and yes, i think some are possible - i mean, we're still finding things we didn't know existed...
  2. frankly, i'm a bit annoyed that the "mod favoritism" issue has come up again. i'd like to make a couple points... 1) *everything* is a judgment call. many posts are borderline rules violations, and as such, may take time to discuss & come to an agreement on what, if any, action to take. in the meantime, if we leave a post visible while discussing it, people think no action = condoning, and that's not true. on the other hand, if we make a post invisible while discussing it, people flip out over "mod censorship", and that's not true either. it's lose-lose, as a mod. 2) there is *one* type of "favoritism" that goes on around here, but it's precipitated by the behavior of the individual posters. if someone rarely/never causes trouble or comes close to breaking the rules, they most definitely will get a little bit of leeway if they have a questionable post, as they've proven that, in general, they know how to behave. a "problem" poster has shown through his/her behavior, that they don't know how to, or refuse to, abide by the rules, and they will be dealt with much more harshly because of it. that has nothing to do with the mods, it's on the individual. 3) nobody on this board (other than mods) really knows what goes on behind the scenes. it's not the mods' job to "inform" everyone of any action taken against an individual, and it's not something we're ever going to do, because honestly, it's nobody else's business. of course, if people don't know/see action taken, they make assumptions that "the mods didn't do shit to so-n-so!!", when they really have no idea if we did or not. still, there will always be cries of favoritism on the board. i wish people had enough faith in the mod staff to accept that it doesn't happen, but such is life. being a mod is a thoroughly thankless job outside of our own "internal mod pep-talk".
  3. 3 scrambled eggs, 2 turkey sausage patties, 1/2 cup oatmeal w/skim & 1 scoop whey powder, 1 banana, w/tbsp. peanut butter. (had my coffee earlier this morning) oh, and i had a shockwave whilst driving around running errands.
  4. HA! while watching that murray head, i found this!! and most of my friends would make fun of me for this one, even though it's cool!
  5. yep, totally realize that, i'm just surprised that i had reasonable strength on my lifts tonight, and then had the energy to run my fastest 2.7 mile time to date...
  6. stuffing my face, because after my workout & run tonight, i realized i was over 900 calories short for the day! how the fuck did i get through my workout & run!?
  7. completely follow your point, and pretty much agree. i think the key point is the "early age" comment, and "appropriate and significant" are good descriptions. however, what do you do when non-contact discipline has no effect? (honestly, what would you do? you can't just give up if non-contact punishment doesn't work, so what could a parent do?)i think one (no more than two) well-placed swat(s) on the butt would not be too extreme. more an attention-getter than a punishment, like "hey, i'm not f**kin around kid, pay attention!". and again, consequences need to be learned early, corporal punishment after they're grown reinforces the wrong idea. hope that's a little clearer!
  8. strumming a little guitar & wondering if i'm gonna get a call tomorrow for some contract work tomorrow at my old company...
  9. to be honest, i think a lot of the problems with today's kids stem from the lack of ability to utilize "corporal punishment" with children anymore. now, in no way am i saying parents should beat their kids, but damnit, a "time-out" is *not* going to get a kid's attention after a certain point. kids now, think their parents are a bunch of wimps they can run roughshod over, because there is never a punishment for their bad behavior. there is no healthy fear of authority anymore. i'm also not saying that every kid needs it, but i do think that, as bad behavior escalates, punishment should as well. of course, i have no idea where to draw the line on it, legally speaking... spanking? switches? belts? wait...i bet i'm turning some of you on now, aren't i!? and yes, i realize i don't have kids - i can still have an opinion on the subject.
  10. when i started my "cut", i calculated out to 26.7% when i rechecked after about 4-5 weeks, i was down to 25.8%, i think. just make sure you take the measurements at the same location each time, so they're comparable. i like this method of checking progress, for the simple fact that muscle weighs more than fat, and it can be discouraging to not see the scale move, even when you're making good progress! btw, the feeling cold issue? might be that you're not getting enough food, and your "furnace" is shutting down. you can't stoke a really big fire if you don't add wood (fuel) to it, right?
  11. fyi, it's fruit and/or veggies - you should be getting a bunch every day, but it doesn't have to be both every day. of course, if the only fruits/veggies you're getting are from sushi, you're likely going to run into a vitamin deficiency (and honestly, probably an issue with a lack of fiber). as for gaining muscle while losing body fat, that's typically called "beginner's gains", and will eventually stop if you're not doing any form of weight lifting. it's better to keep an eye on body fat, rather than weight, although tracking both can be beneficial. here's a page that uses various body measurements to estimate body fat percentage. BF% calculator. also, if anyone is "hitting the wall" on their weight loss, try upping your calorie intake by just a little bit (maybe 200 cal/day) it can actually "stoke your furnace" so to speak, allowing you to be more active. be sure you're getting enough protein too - estimates are 1-1.5g. protein for every pound of lean body weight you have. calculate this by multiplying your actual scale weight by the inverse of your calculated BF% - for example, a person who weighs #200, and is at 25% bf (roughly where i am) would calculate their LBM by multiplying #200 x 75% = #150 lean body mass = 150g protein min. in order to maintain/not lose their muscle mass. umm... sorry, went off on a tangent there, didn't i?
  12. go for a quick 1-mile run, and then a bout of hill sprints. i have a love/hate relationship with hill sprints, always look forward to them, and like how i feel after them, but while i'm running them, they're the suckiest thing in the world!
  13. i'm feeling annoyed with all the dgn springtime cupid-ness that's going on around here... lousy, rotten, happy bastiges!!
