  1. very cool! i'm still learning about haiku/senryu, what rules apply, forms, etc...
  2. i'd really like to go this year, but i have no idea what my schedule will be like, as i don't have a job now, but need to get one before then, and there's no way to know if i can make it. is there an "optional" choice? like, i'll make it if at all possible!? cuz i really do want to!
  3. depends on the job and how much you make/how many hours you work. i'm not sure the exact ratio, but my understanding is that there's a certain point where they actually stop paying. if the job is in that range, but still not enough to cover his payments, i can see not taking the job.
  4. might not be an elbow issue - i had the same thing happen to me (same two fingers) and it ended up being a problem with the alignment in my (i think) C5-C6 vertebrae. had an adjustment & it cleared right up. just thought i'd mention it as something to keep in mind, maybe check out... =)
  5. DGN @ City Club, Saturday, March 13th. 400 Bagley Street Downtown Detroit You enter by going through an unmarked door on the First Street side of the Ramada Hotel building, located at 400 Bagley Street in downtown Detroit. The club is at the top of the stairwell. (see picture in the link above in the DGN calendar entry) Come. Join us. Meet us. Hang out. We're not that scary in person, really. Leland City Club All are welcome. Come meet some of us weirdos. Saturday nights from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Alcoholic drinks until 2:00 a.m., pop and juices served all night. Admission is $4 18 and up, 21 to drink with proper ID (no exceptions). No drugs, weapons, chains or spikes. We've had reports that the CC parking lot will not break bills larger than $10, so try to bring smaller bills with you. Zoom able map to Leland City Club MDOT lane closure (The map isn't quite exact. The Leland is located within the Bagley, 1st, Cass, Plaza Dr. block.) In case you don't know the "DGN Corner" is to the right of the bar. Currently theres a table, pillar and long narrow wooden table, impossible to miss. Come say hello. If no one is there, stay there, they will show up. Note: If you're NOT going this isn't the place to post about it.
  6. watching castle & getting ready for bed.
  7. debating whether to go out later tonight, or just go to bed...
  8. maybe just ironic, as hitler was such a "master race" bastard!? oh, and i *love* this one!!
  9. umm... this was posted 9 days after the deadline to make it into the schedule!? gonna have some trouble with that, i think...
  10. i didn't have time to read the whole thing right now, but i saw the quote in red - does this happen to stem from wayne dyer? seems like he just released a book/seminar regarding "change your thoughts, change your life". i love reading his stuff, very helpful, very true, and he has a great way of phrasing things. if you dig him, you'll like a lot of deepak chopra's stuff too! i'll come back to this later...
  11. and more (less?) surprisingly, the lightness of this thread makes me even sadder...
  12. sorry to hear that, man, hope things start looking up for you soon.
  13. *sigh* i remember feeling that way, long, long ago... (at least i think it was me, it might have been a tv show i was watching!?)
  14. this may come across as being really stupid on my part, but for some reason, it finally clicked with me that gun control doesn't equal gun removal. gun control means strict licensing, testing, training, etc. but the truth of the matter is, is the goverment takes the guns away from law-abiding citizens, the criminals will be the only ones with guns...
  15. (this post is intended for everyone, not just rev.) truth is subjective and relative... and rules, whether one agrees with them or not, are to be followed on this board. if one doesn't like the rules, one can always make the choice to not post here. it's quite simple, really.
  16. i'm thinking it looks like another beautiful day to get the cycle out - 37deg. and sunny, roads are clear... i need to get a pic posted!!
  17. i feel cold - i really need to have more than one fire a day, but i'm trying to save wood/money. at least when the room is cold your body burns more calories to stay warm... "it's cold, i'm exercising!!" time to go split some firewood... *sigh*
  18. question is, how were these studies conducted? i saw the one on myth busters, and some of the things they had people doing were things like, "here's a list of ten items, were going to read them to you & you have to recite them back." or some kind of complex story-problem kind of math. they were asking things normal people will never/rarely encounter in their typical phone conversations. besides, i think most people are aware enough that if they see something about to happen, they'll drop the phone and take action. this is really no different than bringing your hand up away from changing the radio, putting a cd in, getting the cap off your bottle of pop, or any of dozens of other things that require one hand to be off the wheel. i can see it being a ticketable offense, depending on road conditions, or along with involvement in an accident, etc. but being able to pull someone over solely because they're talking on the phone seems assinine to me. texting? i agree with that, because it requires too much focus and takes one's eyes off the road far too long. talking on the phone doesn't. i'd like to see these tests conducted without intending to make the conversations so difficult, like a simple "how's the family" conversation, & see what those results would be like. i'll bet they'd be different.
