it probably is the parents & that's the point. what the hell makes a parent want to *prosecute* an 11yr old? people disgust me. there's no common sense anymore...

and i could use a school book as a club to beat the hell out of someone - if we're trying to keep weapons out of the schools, i guess we should ban pencils (and pens, same reason) and books too, because they can all be used as weapons. we'll have to remove the library, as it would be classified a "weapons arsenal". we should probably get rid of all the chairs too, since you could pick one up and beat someone with it... my point is that kids have always done this shit, and they always will. what are we going to do, take everything away & make kids attend schools in bubblewrap? they're charging an 11yr old with a fucking felony!? what's next, going after the kids on "america's funniest videos" for hitting their dad in the groin with a bat, or hitting their baby sister with a toy hammer, and charging them with assault & battery? i mean, there's direct video evidence against them so let's put 'em away!! and who's pressing charges? it's not the other kid, i guarantee it. i just think as a society, we're grossly over-reacting to things that are typical child behavior. it might be different if this was a well-thought-out, premeditated thing, but it was a quick, child-like reaction. i'm just flabbergasted by stories like this. sorry if i'm coming across poorly.

i'll be in that area saturday, so it's quite possible i'll be there. will have to decide that night - i'm really not sure i want to go with a special event going on, it's usually too busy as it is for me. i can't imagine how much worse it'll be this weekend. still, it'd be a shame to make it all the way over there & not go. if you know me & see me, say hi or something!

i'm not kidding... aside from the absurdity of charging a kid with felony attempted assault, they're charging him with misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. it's a fucking pencil!! seriously, wtf is wrong with people!?

so in your view, cocky isn't related to body language, but verbal? and here's a question i have for anyone... how do you justify walking around with a smile on your face, when you're not talking to/with anyone? i can see smiling for a reason, but smiling for *no* reason seems really silly to me, like "how sweet to be an idiot" silly.

sorry - the body language question wasn't related to women, it was related to how men hold themselves confidently without coming across negatively, as it's been brought to my attention that i always come across as too indimidating/unapproachable...

this is what i took to be the main premise of this thread, and it feels like maybe it was missed a bit. i know a lot of people who are really great, but nobody finds out because it's hard for them to start conversations. this is my issue as well - i'm fine once i'm in a convo, but where to/how to start one is difficult. question - with body language, what's the difference between confident and cocky? or for that matter, confident and aloof/standoffish, or distant, or uninterested, etc.? my advice for women is to not assume the subtle hints you're dropping, either verbally or through body language, are being perceived. many guys are dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to reading these things, so be obvious if you're into someone. you may think you're being ridiculously transparent, but most guys won't see it unless you actually *are*. (or is that just me!?)

we'll see. i really couldn't care less about anything happening in general, just would like to see some friendly faces for a change. of course, i always tend to figure that people have better things to do than hang with me, but maybe i'll just stay with my sis & play it by ear. at very least, i can sit in the basement, watch some tv & play guitar, which is all i'd do at home anyway. who knows? maybe something will come up. oh yeah, and btw, anyone?

sitting home, mad that i missed my outplacement class this morning, mad that my truck broke down on the way there & i had to sit in a non-running truck for an hour in 10deg. weather, and mad that the repairs are gonna cost me $325. on the plus side, at least i had a roadside assistance card, and i've got yummy smoked sausage & veggies for lunch, and i have time to get a fire going so i can finally warm up...

figures - i've been having lots of similar minor issues recently. wish i could figure it out. thanks.
