JOHNNY THUNDERS- CHINESE ROCKS!!

Iggy Pop: China Girl

Velvet Underground: White Light White Heat, Waitin' For My Man, Heroin

Cracker: Low

the Doors: People are Strange

Perry Farrel's annoying former band: Jane Says

Tech N9ne: (song I can never remember the title of)

Hair (original broadway): Walking in Space

I can think of a whole slew of cannabis-related ones but since that's not my drug of choice I'll just mention Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath & leave the rest to you stoner kids.

I'm embarassed to admit that back in the day I had a whole tape of heroin-related music

Most of Alice in Chains Alboum "Dirt" was all about heroin use.

I was also going to mention Neil Young's "Needle and the Damage Done", but in the context of Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders' version.

Knowing the history of the band and how she lost both the original guitarist and the bassist (who was also her lover) to drugs makes it that much more heartbreaking.

Also worth mentioning was her involvement with Sid Vicious, yet another person in her life destroyed by drugs.

yup... had a couple of those songs on the '90s version of my fix tape. Didn't mention them 'cos someone else already had.

First time I heard "Dirt", I remember thinking "christ on a crutch, this poor bastard won't be around long". Being addicted is one thing, being obssessive about the shit is another thing altogether

A couple essentials I forgot: Johnny Thunders "Too Much Junkie Business" and Nina Hagen "Smack Jack"
