What is your trust in society today?

Recommended Posts

:devil I not only distrust 90% of society today,I also cannot stand it either.

This is just my opinion, since I do have certain friends and family members that I can trust. It takes the power of the national guard for me to trust someone anymore these days.but that goes mostly towards people I do not know very well,or people that I know that hide their sneaky BS past.

Awhile ago I could trust more people, now you have to be extremely cautious these days now.

In nutshell:

we're able to cope with less.

we label ourselves more

were in more debt than ever before

our kids are raised by surrogates more than actual parents on a daily basis

we're far more pharmecutically medicated

we sustain relationships for shorter periods of time

we get less sleep

we eat less nutrients

we have all the technology in the world to communicate but don't do so in a consistent and intimate manner with those in our inner circle.

oh, and we're pissed.

so...... I dunno...... these things concern me, put it that way...

i can't say that i have a different "trust" in "society"

and like brass fusion pointed out well 15 years ago i was younger... not 8, i was almost 17 ;)... so that changes things too.

i was going to be 17 and in my last year of highschool so my thoughts, goals, priorities and responsibilites were different. i was not yet dealing with "the real world".

but i noticed that when i got older other things changed how i feel about the world around me.

when i had my son - my whole entire life and view of the world changed. i suddenly didn't feel safe in places i would go all the time. or even where i lived, so i had to move.

certain things i did for fun, no longer where things i considered doing and i was much more leary of people i would even be around.

i don't know if the things i do have to do with "the world today" but they very well might. had i been a parent in the 70's maybe i would not be a parent like i am in the 00's.

i too don't trust people, but that has a lot more to do with my kid's safety not my relationships with people. i trust people i know, just not people i don't know.

i don't let my son go anywhere to play but around my house. because i don't trust the people he might encounter. it is sad that i feel this way, but it is just a fact of my life.

as for what i think your post was originally meant to say - i guess that yeah over time i have learned to trust people less and less.

i have lived and learned and been burned and i guess that makes you harden yourself against the world around you. people and otherwise. we don't always go about it in the right way; it's survival. we do what we have to do to get by.

That would make me 9 and I have to say, I trusted people less then. In fact it was hard to get me out of the house, to talk to other kids my age, or to talk to adults (including family). I didn't talk much then. In fact I lacked so many social skills I was forbidden from returning to brownie camp because the troop moms had no idea what to do with me. Less pain then.

Now, I bother to make friends- those usually go away and get replaced by new friends. And, I talk way too much! I may have been better off sometimes without the socializing. Although it's given me a few good friends, most people have taken far too much advantage of my good nature. I really need to go back to reading and art as a primary focus.

Good topic Crank! I do need to be less social! I'm far too trusting.
