Bryan Singer directed, he's awesome.  Kevin Spacey plays Lex Luthor and he's awesome.  Superman 1 and 2 were great movies.

How can anyone think this one will suck?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

because its superman

having all of the powers in the world and only being weak to a rare type of stone has never caught my intrest he just has to many powers for my taste

oh and about the new batman

batman returns does not need a sequal it was a great movie they shouldnt ruin it

Kryptonite is not his only weakness. Magic works against Superman as well. Also, Doomsday actually KILLED superman. Most of his enemies are also super-powered aliens - like General Zod in Superman 2 (also in Smallville in the current storyline) or Bizarro, Braniac, Lobo, etc

Superman isn't even in the top 5 most powerful DC characters, the Spectre could feasibly destroy Superman, Superman needed the entire DC Universe to defeat the Anti-Monitor, Same with the Sun Eater - only a psychotic Hal Jordan cum parralax could defeat him, you could argue that the Green Lantern or possibly the Flash could take Superman as well.

i think as long as they stick with the obvious choice (paul bettany) things will go well. i really think that itll be a hit because they new batman movies actually have thought put into them.

jack is a hard act to follow as reg'ds the joker

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I love Kevin Spacey the most when he's being "Kevin Spacey". His turns on Saturday Night Live are always above par (especially for the most recent season or two, which have smelled like walleye puke).

But I'm having trouble seeing him as Lex. He's so... nice in my book. Even in "the Usual Suspects" he was so likeable. Gene Hackman will be an incredibly hard act to follow.

Stream of consciousness note: The Christopher Reeve movies are MY generation. The vast majority of DGN'ers won't be making the comparisons I will, most likely, except for hardcore fans like Ted...

Bryan Singer directed, he's awesome.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I had to look up his resume on IMDB.

I liked X2. For the most part, however, I think his resume is too new to figure how he'd do with Supe. What makes you think he'll be "the guy" to do this right?

Superman 1 and 2 were great movies.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

See stream of consciousness note above.

I don't remember where I heard this, and maybe I'm "remembering out my ass". But did I hear right that they, in some way, pay homage to Christopher Reeve or at least his versions of the movie in this new version? Or something like they were not attempting to badmouth said CR versions, but respect & admire them or something to that effect?

In any case, I absolutely LOVED the first two CR versions/movies. I can re-watch them over and over and over. Even if they goofed when filming the shot of him putting the new dome on the White House (notice how the fountain in front is frozen???)

But that, again, is putting me in the somewhat uncomfortable position of having "Go ahead - improve on the CR versions - I dare you" attitude.

By the way, I only very, very, very rarely tune into an episode of Smallville. But Zod's making an appearance? Do tell. I think I'm gonna have to try to watch that.

Feirce,

Bryan Singer also directed The Usual Suspects.

As far as paying homage to the early superman movies, yes, they used outtakes from the old movies in the new one, Marlon Brando even makes an appearance.

As for Smallville, General Zod has come to eartch and has "posessed" Lex Luthor, so now Lex has the powers of a Kryptonian.

Lex's father goes into trances and while in these trances he is getting messages from Jor-El (Superman's biolgical father) and is writing messages to Clark Kent in Kryptonese, which only Clark can read, warning of the coming of Zod.

The last scene in the season finale was Zod banishing Clark into the glass square from the Superman movies that Zod and his 2 cohorts were placed in.

So that is where we are at. Clark Kent floating thru space in the glass chamber, Zod is on earth and there is rioting in the streets.

Tune in in september to see the conclusion.

LOL.....this new superman looks pretty gay

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Actually, Bryan Singer is openly gay and the gay community has really embraced this new movie, in the Advocate they are calling Superman "Queer-El" as his Kryptonian name is Kal-El. Some of the hardcore fans on the DC boards don't like it though.
