Drunks goto bars, alcholics goto meetings.

Sadly enough those who goto AA, NA, and all the other clubs of such nature have given up the one thing that truely gave them something "exciting to talk about". Now, once they quit (and I am NOT getting down on them mind you, trust me on this), they have nothing to talk about but how the program saved their lives from total destrustion. Ok, so you quit doing drugs and drinking, good for you, wonderful infact, but come on already, you quit, now move on with yourself! Don't spend the rest of your fucking life talking about it or you'll be sucked in the vortex of lameness because you have NOTHING ELSE TO TALK ABOUT!!!! MOVE ON!!!! GO INTO THE LIGHT CAROL-ANNE!!!!

There here.

I'm serious about this! I've been to these meetings, clubs, and picnics. Hell, I used to run a few meetings for NA back in teh mid 90's. I finally said screw it because i couldn't stand the people that wouldn't let it go. their whole lives revolved around their past addictions and AA/NA so they had no life of their own. They's even try to push off thier religion on others which i am sorry to say i am offended by. they would also hound on anyone they saw drinking or doing drugs. if they are drinking and doing drugs let them alone, don't harp on them that they have to quit, chances they will because they were harrassed about it are a million to one. hell, when i was a hardcore drug addict many many moons ago if someone did that sh1t to me it would only make me want to do more drugs. shrugging.

I was only teasing about the poltergeist reference.

I don't attend NA or AA anymore because of exactly your point.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Just out of curiosity not to preach-- even thou you don't attend any meetings anymore do you still, totally obstain from all drugs(including marijauna) and drinking...like, you would have a beer once in a while? If the answer is no I'm not gonna get down on you or think bad of you.

So is the message that if you're not Christian, you really have no motivation to quit using anyway, so no one cares? *shudder*

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

no. it's that i'm not christian and don't do anything drug/alcohol wise. it isn't the center of my life either to the point where i have no other life. if you've been to a few meetings you'd understand where i'm coming from.
