Whoee, first respondant.

I'm a hardcore tipper, believe it or not. If I know the person and I have a small bill, I might tip as much as 50%. I have to have a really good reason to tip below 17% or so.

Not that I can afford to tip like that... i just do.

I know how it is to bust my ass a waitress... so I always tip. UNLESS the service is horrible and the waitress is being bitchy about it, I understand ppl have bad days .. but in all my years of being a waitress I was never bitchy. TO BE NICE IS THEIR JOB! .. If they don't want to do there job then fuck them Im buying new shoes =) :wink

I generally tip well, especially at bars when I see the staff working hard. Restaurants are much more dependent on service. I used to tip when I got my hair cut. Seeing as I don't have hair anymore... Um.. yeah.

I'd not only give Brenda a good tip. I'd give her the whole thing. :-)

LOL Marc.....

I just find it appalling that a client would get $90.00 worth of services from me, say how absolutely pleased she was, and not tip me, the aesthetician, or the massage therapist for our services. I'm our business, we hope to get a little something.

Instead, I had feet in my face. The kind with long toenails that would make the sound of a poodle on ceramic tile.

We generally give the standard 15%.

If we are in good enough financial shape and get very decent service, that goes up to 20% and sometimes higher.

For truly exceptional service, we've been known to tip ridiculously high.

If a service person, be that a waiter, waitress, what have you, is obviously training and struggling and does a poor job, we do not penalize them for "learning the ropes." We'll tip standard, and if they have done anything like apologize, or done something to show they really intended better, we will tip them higher to try to brighten their day a bit, and maybe boost their confidence so they won't get disheartened.

But if we get an obvious bitch/dickhead who serves us in a way that screams, "I hate being here, I hate you, this sucks" we will tip exceedingly low. If someone is outright rude or nasty in some way, we'll not only not tip, we'll talk to a manager or matre d to let them know of the situation so it won't continue.

And on the rare occasion that we really need to get out for some kind of event that ordinarily would include tipping but we're just really short, we might tip low or not at all but promise the server that we will make up for it next time we visit that establishment, and we always make good on that. We've done so at a couple restaurants and at City Club, too.

I always give more than 100% of myself when I do nails or makeup. I expect it when I get services as well. Throughout this one and a half hour service, we laughed, joked, she kept saying how she loved EVERYTHING that she had done today, and was coming back. It seemed sincere. When our receptionist asked her if she wanted to add gratuity, she said "No. I don't think I need to. They know how happy I am."

Uh, no. Apparently, we don't know how happy you are. In a service-driven industry, such as the salon or food service industries, we rely on our tips. It's our gas and food money. Now, I get a lot of large tips. We're a high-end salon and wellness spa in a high-rent area of Baltimore City. Most people know to tip. I'm just not sure if she knew.

Sometimes, this sort of thing drives me nuts. Sometimes, it doesn't. Today, it did.

*shrug*

I waitressed for years so.....I have little sympathy. If you give me bad service you will know becaue you won't get a dime.

If I get excellent service you will know because I tip OVER for that, quite generous if your VERY good.

I tip the moderate amount (I think its 10 to 15% the total) if its ok to good.

I always tip the good bartender at CC because it is worth the extra alcohol in the drink, ya know?

I usually drop 5 bucks for food. I figure the standard is 15% or $2.50 whichever is more. Inflation goes up, as does minimum wage yet wait staff still make less than shit. Places where they put it into the bill can die because it should be optional. Also if the tip is any more than 5 bucks (with percentage) it's probably someplace fancy and I wouldn't be eating their anyhow. I generally overtip even more than that if the waitress is cute. Tipping heavy is good because that way they remember you too. Table side manners are important as well. If they screw up the order that affects it but if the food is just bad I won't take it out on them.

Bars are another story, I generally only get Coke unless there is bar food (most of the bars I go to there isn't except for I-Rock). I'm already overpaying for a nickel's worth of sugar water (out of the gun costs them about .08 cents) and it's not like it's hard to make me one. You want a nice tip get me a few free refills, otherwise I'll tip you if I feel like it.

I always tip, but the amount of the tip depends on the service for sure....

I was a waitress for a whole week....I know what it's like to bust my ass as a waitress...... :erm :innocent

Even if the service is bad, I will still tip...It might be 50 cents with a note attached, but at leaste it's something.......(This example was used in a very rare case of exttremely bad, repeatedly bad service even after mentioned.....)

This winter I think I helped my bar waitress go on two vacations. The first time I was in there she was amazingly prompt with our drinks and very nice. So, I tipped well and ever since then when I go back my drink is always replaced before it is empty. So, I always leave a very generous tip.

I like to do at least 20%, but have been known to not tip for extremly bad service. If I'm waiting for exceedingly long times in a mostly empty restaurant odds are I'm not tipping well. Before working with salon/spa people I didn't even know you should tip. Boy do they ever get pissed when you don't. (not everyone)

I f***ing hate that! I'm a delivery driver. We charge a small delivery fee ($.10-$.40) per item delivered, so most people hear the words 'delivery fee', and think that goes to the driver. I don't see a single cent of the actual delivery fee.

I get a 5% DMR (driver maintenance recompensation) on every delivery I take. If you do the math, I get about 50 cents per delivery when you factor a $10 average delivery cost. at the end of the day, it barely covers my gas, if that. I have to force a smile and say thank you when I have people open up the door and exclaim, "Wow, that was fast!", and then give me their 50 cents in change from a ten dollar bill. Somebody did that today, as I was watching him count past $100's to get to his smaller bills.

Well that is just crappy. I hardly get delivery to the house .. but if I do it usally San Fu ... they are a bit slow but the food is great .. Its always the same guy and he is always so nice about being so slow (its because Im the last person to get delievered too because we live on the north side of town) My total is always the same lol becaue I always get the same thing .. I tip him about 50% ...

You know what. The best tip I ever got was from a homeless guy. It was like 4 in the moring and I was covering some other girls shift. He got a cup of coffee and sat and kept me company because according to him "no pretty girl should be alone this late at night" =) He was such a nice man, I told him to forget about paying for the coffee. I went to the back to grab something ..and when I came back a 100$ bill was lying on the counter. After that he would always come in, I learn his name was John and he always had his big ball of money .. and I always wondered why he was homeless. At the end of the night I would take out all that I had collected during the night food wise and give it to the ppl in the alley out back, they were always so greatful. It makes you greatful for the tips you do get .. .you know?

What they need to do is not even tell them there is a delivery fee. Just calculate it into the total cost.
