No thanks to you... What you're doing is passively being subsidized by every other person that eats out at a restaurant. Quite selfish.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

oh I will be the first person to admit im selfish, I wont deny that for a second, especially when it comes to tipping. Im not going to loose more of my money, which I work for and get paid minimum wage, to someone who makes triple what I make.

I work as a stock guy lugging heavy stuff into people vehicles/around the store. When I manage to fit a 150 pound tv into a ford tuarus by myself, I dont get a tip and I dont get upset about it., so if someone refills my drink 1 time and gives me a plate of food, why should I tip them when I know they are making way more than I am?

Yes, waitressing is stressful, yes its busy work, this I know, but they get paid for it the way they should BY THE MAJORITY.

You are correct, I am not helping waitress wages, but I established that in my first post.

So you make 5.25 an hour and waitresses average 15.75.

If that's what you really believe, get a waitressing job.

YEah no shit i have had nights where all i did make was $15.75 For the WHOLE NIGHT! Maybe $25 the next night and so on...... YEah we Great night once in a while but hell they deserve them after weeks of crap.

No i am no longer waitress but trust me on average we dont make any more the any one else, you do have exceptions I mean if i work in a resturant that charges $50 a plate yes i would make More but when ya work at Big Boy or some other Joe Smoe place, we are broke just like every one else.

The wages are currently based on the belief that the wait staff will make up the rest of Minium wage from tips, that is why the Owner get to pay less, so even the GOvernment thinks you should tip.

Oh, it used to be customary to TIP a person whom helped carry out grocerys or other items. THis stopped when the Gov. made bussiness pay those people minium wage.

Those BAggers mentioned soemplace in another post with Tip Jars usually do not make a wage, NO pay check, theywork for tips only i have seen several Stores where this happens so i asked why.

i have had 3 waitressing jobs, one job bussing tables when i was younger, and i currently deliver pizzas---me EATING and having a roof over myhead is dependant upon people tipping me. and i work hard for my money too, unless i'm having a really off day and outside circumstances are preventing me from giving you A+ service, that's what you get.

therefore, since i know what its like and how hard it is sometimes to be in the service industry, i tip very well.

15% for not terribly great service

20% normal tip from me

25% if i notice someone's working really hard

30% if the bill's kinda small and/or i recieve really good service

(and btw even if we dont get tipped as waitresses/delivery drivers the government assumes that we are getting tipped a certain amount even if we dont and takes the appropriate amount from that for our paychecks--- waitresses at most places make $2.65 an hour and after the government's gorging us on taxes and getting charged for social security we dont even recieve at our jobs we make about $1.00 an hour--tipping is how we survive)

for one, minimum wage is 5.15

also, I dont want to be a waiter

But according to your careful research they make SO MUCH MONEY. I mean, it sounds like a dream job.

Gotta be better than that 5.15 an hour you're making. Actually, I make up to 35 an hour teaching- that's the contracted work. As a free lance, I charge up to 30, but people often

******TIP ME******

even though I don't deserve it, being that I set my own prices anyway, so sometimes I make 40.

I only make a piddly 8/hour on my day job, and no tips because it's in a factory and I never deal with customers face to face. =....(

I really miss people telling me what to do as if their money was going directly into my pocket and the way I treated ONLY THEM out of all my customers dictated my income. I never actually worked under those conditions, because McDonald's and Kohl's and Rite Aid and etc. weren't tip based. Lucky me.

Footnote: I found myself tipping 100% the other night to Scary's best-waitress-friend. She kept the refills coming, and she's a sweetheart. If you go to the Coney on 12 and main, she's short-ish with dark hair. Can't remember her name, it might be Marie, or I could be on the crack rock.

Michelle, and she is awesome indeed, always great table side manners too even when she is in a bad mood.

I am a dealer at a casino and without tips we make a big $8.55 an hour. Tips are essential to us which it seems many do not know or do not care. On an average night I listen to at least a hundred or so grown men and women whine and cry like babies then walk away and say thanks bitch lol. It can be a fun job at times, but I think that I would like working at a casino better if it wasn't in Detroit.

The Detroit public can be a ruff crowd most of the time. I always tip at least 20% wherevere I go.

She is pretty cool... I used to be a 'coney creature' there back when I lived in southfield. All my favorite 'bar' waitresses quit working so I stopped going as often. I miss my Nash girls! :tear
