That's the sort of thing that happens anywhere when population density increases. I doubt Europe will be any different; if you want different, try Japan. You'll be so ass-deep in culture shock you might not even notice people being cruel to each other.

I have noticed it too. I know I dress in black but don't always wear all the makeup. But when I try to talk to people looking as normal as I ever do, most of the time I just get a strange look and they walk away.

I think thats why I am tempted to move down south.

People are SO friendly there! I saw NO road rage. Everyone talked to me, and said HI first! I was blown away.

Yes, and in the south they really are kinder, more humbler folk.

Michigan is under a lot of pressure.....and they create a lot of fear in the residents, which causes a stir, stress etc....

it's that same attitude that makes detroit basketball so different from the rest of the NBA. it's like work. around here anything you do is like work. everybody is on a mission. they got something to accomplish and every one knows the whole time no matter how hard you work you'll have nothing. so yeah, were a little quiter more determined and care less about things we can't control that directly affect us. every now and then we can't put up with the bullshit and we take matters in our own hands. what happens next is usually a good story that would offend more humble folks. karma in general works differently here. the foriegn legion pays the most money to recruits from michigian then any other part of the world. reshad evens one ufc 2 he beat a 6'7 texan he's 5'9 and only knows boxing from flint and he used to coach states wrestling team no other martial arts training. we have a statue of a clenched fist. were proud of our crime rate. i was in inkster the other day and i saw this cop in a patrol car jamming riding durty on the speaker. he stopped slapped five with some dudes down the street then my boy was like you still want that an i said sure. gave em $10. he ran up to the cop and copped a fat gram from em and he road off bumping ridding durty in the patrol car. there are alot of good nice people around here. just everyone is suspicious if they don't know you. what i see is we come together as a people against strangers. there are people i don't know that just seem to know like i know and if some weird threat approaches we ban together in a quick heartbeat. yeah there is little tolerence for other peoples bullshit around here. you do what you do just remmember were a community. if some one is a peice of shit people figure it out. if you don't know anybody then this place would seem very mean. there are alot of neighborhoods with different attitudes it's how they do around there. but were very different then the rest of america. i try to be nice myself but if things or people i care about are threatened then i feel totally different. most people who act suspicous of you have good reason people who our jerks who think there better our eather in a group or in the wrong neighborhood. so don't be shy about fuking someones day up if you feel it's necessary. cops our community too they know what goes on often our involved in there own crazyness but work is work they usually try to help stop out of control threats and don't normally go after the average person in there own neighborhood unless there out of control. i kinda like it here because i feel at home. i know what to expect from everyone i see. what dangers lie were. so i try to be nice when i can.

driving is fun. i prefer a passive aggresive approach to a defensive approach. constantly aware of thing like being rear ended or people running lights. looking for cops and paying attention the behavior of drivers around me. seeing what there aware of using there anger or lack of attention or fear to my driving advantage. every one feels the need to drive like it's war from time to time. yes michigain is filled with veteran combat drivers. 80 in heavy traffic snow and ice pissed off trying to pass more and more idiots no fear of death (i got this). yeah it's how we do it.. you could get cutt off every day you drive by some guy with a cell phone on and a hamburger or something so you really got to pick and chose your spots. i'm not usually a crazy driver i never lose control and i calculate the risk of my reckless behavior before hand.

and yes i'm laid off. so most people got that grim look and feel strange when you bother them because it's probably trouble coming there way.

also whats up with relationships allways being just business. why is love and affairs of the heart such a heatless industry. i guess thats all different in other parts of the world too.

It's true... There's a huge difference between Detroit and Lansing, AFA basic levels of civility. There's also much less racial nonsense here. Of course I'm not saying people are perfect here and no one is ever nice there... but there is a noticeable difference in how day-to-day interactions tend to go. Example: my truck stalled under the 8 mile/Lodge xway overpass at noon-ish on a very busy Saturday. I sat there for a half hour waiting for it to cool enough to start again, and not one person stopped to ask if I needed help. On the other hand, the two times I've had breakdowns in Lansing, people stopped almost immediately to help. I know this is just one personal experience, but these experiences have come to stand for all the reasons I prefer living up here.

A few years ago I saw a old white guy whose car stalled in the cass coridor. 4 thugged out looking black guys came up to him......and helped him get his car started again.

Yeah Detroit has some jackasses but there's alot of good people there too.

I was walking home one day and it was showering and a complete stranger gave me a ride home.

I also find most people in the suburbs to be pretty friendly.

I almost got into like 5 accidents in the less thatn one day I was there.

They pass on the right there.

If you are in the Left, or "Fast Lane" as I know it, you will be tailgated, and looked at like an idiot, and cut off. They will also cut you off if you have less than one car space between you and ass in front of you also....so make sure you tailgate. :confused

I much prefer "Detroit driving skills" to anything driving along 696- those people are the crazy ones. You just happen to be where the lack of driving skills exist. For some reason they like to cut each other off so much they make traffic on the freeway stop. I think its a north of 8 mile thing.
