BillyDeath
If an Izod shirt is black it is not considered goth.
BrassFusion
The look, nothing... people should feel free to sport whatever the hell style they choose. The mindset, lots. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's the preppy "mindset?" Cuz the goth mindset can range anywhere from "be accepting of non-conformity and individuality" to "hate on Izod and Angelina Jolie for no reason." pomba gira
Brenda: Yup, I was thinking the same thing...that we're technically not off-topic since we're exploring the motivations of the original poster. BrassFusion: The main "mindset" I'm referring to is the whole gentrification attitude. Moving into an area because of its bohemian or rural ambience, then proceeding to run the original residents out via either legal or economic means. Happened a lot in the '80s... One example: when I lived in the Haight-Ashbury district in San Francisco, there was a group called Food Not Bombs that provided free meals in the park. The yuppie newcomers managed to have them barred from serving food. I could give more examples... but that one gets the basic idea across.

Onyx
Do you know these type of polo shirt's that have a small crocadile patch sowed at the left corner of the shirt. I hated those shirt's. All because when I was nine turning ten my folks used to make me wear those fucking shirts. The Gisgra's and the Betzler's would always conspire me to wear them. They would always say "be strong like crocadile on the corner of your shirt". The betzler's and gisgra's are a bunch of close-minded yuppies that my parents used to hang around with. They were a bad influence on my parents, except for Mr. Betzler who was just stuck with the yuppie cult. They had a stock in the Izod buisness. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good grief. I don't particularly like that type of clothing, but if your parents are paying for your clothes they have a right to buy whatever the hell they please. Personally I do try to let my kids choose their own clothes and style within reason but until they are paying their own way in life I have the final say. Don't like it? Get a job, pay your own bills and find your own place to live!
