ITS STUPID!!

I hate mysoace and dont understand why everyone is obsessed with it, everyone has one and keeps bugging me to get one and its really annoying. There is no purpose to it! all you do is meet people, say a couple things to them, and maybe add them to your AIM or something. If I wanted to meet people, I would socialize at clubs, not surf the net.

GRRR

I hate Myspace.

Anyone agree?

I use it as a central collection point for all my net and forum pals...  And for harassing Brenda.  :-)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Honey, you don't harass me enough!

Seriously, I like it because I despise talking on the phone. I keep in touch with my friends, alumni, and coworkers, both former and present. I don't use it to "pick up" people, but I do use it for networking. I'm definitely not obsessed, but I've found it to be useful.

I use Myspace for networking. People I meet at the clubs, I ask if they have an account. People I know from forums, they usually have one.... stuff like that.

Dont let the 820 friends fool you. Most of them are bands. Or models. e.e

I've stayed away from it thus far, mainly 'cos (a) it seems way too time-consuming; (b) everyone doesn't need to know everything I do, say, or think; © I'm terrified of getting involved with some dishonest underage person. But... that's just my personal feeling. I can't say I "hate" Myspace just 'cos it isn't my thing. Seems like a lot of people get much enjoyment out ov MySpace... so that's all good with me. In the end, I'm all for anything that helps bring people together.

damn that sounded smarmy... I need to get out more... :cat:

I have an account on My Space. Using it to keep in contact with friends. I'm not much of a phone person, which makes it interesting since my new job requires phone usage. Still waiting for HH to accept me on her friends list...LOL Had to tease you a little HH.

Did I deny you? If I did, it's only because I thought you were one of those wierdos I mentioned. I am sorry. When I had 'swinger' up we were looking, I got bombared, and denied a bunch of people without checking out their profile. Then we gave up. Now I only use it to keep in contact with true friends and musicians.

Please send me your link!

Sigh.

I've been bitten. I've been working on my profile for a few days now. I've had an account for a year, but only just to help publicize the DGN CD. Really, that's about all that was on my page for a long time.

But, in case you haven't noticed, I'm not posting much on DGN anymore, and **news alert** I might stop posting altogether in the near future.

I still wanted a place to vent some thoughts, so I decided, finally, to start a blog on my page. That's led to me wanting to vamp it up more.

It's still under construction. Need to majorly tweak some HTML code. My text is all over the place, too small some places, stuff like that.

I don't ask people to make me their friend. If asked to make someone else my friend, and I actually DO know them, I will do so. But it's there for me mostly, so I don't care if I end up on a billion people's friends list or anything like that. It's nice, but not my motivation.

Prior to this, I thought online/public journals were a contradiction. I'm still not totally comfortable with the concept, to be honest.

That said, I'm adding my myspace link to my profile here if you care to take a look. :grin

There is nothing wrong with myspace other than it has no way of weeding out the underaged.

Things to remember....

1) It is not a dating service.

2) You are responsible for your own actions

3) You can make your profile private so that only the friends you add can see it.

Those people who misuse myspace for illegal activities or for ill will would do the same thing with any other service.

I belive myspace should be made 18+

I also believe that parents should be monitoring their children more than they are. You can't blame myspace for predators. They are everywhere. Remember when aol chat got big. Lots of predators then.

myspace was created to make networking easier.

Just like when you place a profile on aim or yahoo or hotmail.

Im just discovering myspace.

Got sucked into it by Brenda Starr, needed a place where she and I could cyber date but I'm too dang busy these days to really use it much, forgive me Brenda....

So anyway I've got a page up but its pretty sparse.....not much time to work on it and I suck at technology, much better with sticks, stones, duck tape and string.

Still, I think its a cool tool to network and blog without too much criticism from others who think it does not fit into a particular website thread or something......

Hi Jesi - how are you??????

I actually used to have a weekly column online at the Detroit Buzz which I vacated......so I'm hoping that setting up a Blog for my new page will fulfull my need to post mindless drivel.
