City Club

Recommended Posts

I agree with Joey Deadcat and Anathema.  There are other cleaner clubs that play better music and actually give a shit about their customers.  A few of them are even in Michigan.

I miss the good ol days :(

How about telling us the name of these better clubs in Michigan.

I have seen a lot of posts knocking CC with comments of better clubs in Michigan. Yet no one seems to name them. Makes me wonder if these clubs exist. I've been to CC a few times and haven't noticed it being as bad as some say. I'm not saying the place is in great shape but just that I haven't noticed some of the things others have seen. We need a thread of different clubs with ratings by those who have gone to them.

:devil CC was much better 4 or more years ago,now Mike lets everything fall apart now, damn he won't even replace a broken doorknob or lightswitch.talk about being cheap.

lol. As if that is something new! When I lived upstairs 11 years ago he still wasn't fixing anything in the building let alone the club. I'm suprised he finally got rid of the rat infected pool and turned it into part of the parking lot. He probably conciders that to be his improvment for this century.

Labyrinth was better with Deep Dark Retro, Down Where We Belong, and the late, great SPAG night.

Right now the better places aren't clubs but the bars.

2500 Club with its retro burlesque and horror decor. A great punk hangout. And whenver DJ Human Fly spins it's a night of doo wop, 60s girl groups, 50s R&B, 77 punk, 70s glitter rock, deathrock, new wave, burlesque tunes, 60s garage, and rockabilly. And, of course, live bands and Detroit Roller Derby Girls.

Lager House is also a cool rock & roll hangout

Mephisto's was cool, too as I don't recall too much EBM being played there but then we always hung out upstairs for the bands and lounge music/atmosphere. Either case, the music on that 1st floor was way better than at CC.

CC was interesting over 10 years ago and before. Wished I could've hung out there during the 80s when it was more of a punk club.

I completely disagree. Their are other options for clubs. One of the nice things about Michigan is none of the clubs have competive nights. So we aren't as fractured as some other cities. If you want the name of a club that is offering more. How bout Necto.? On Monday nights at Necto we are doing well over 250 people. We have the best sound and lighting you will ever find in Michigan for a night in our scene and the cheapest drink specials around.
