wormsinwombs
Do any of you know of any cool goth/punk/wiccan/cyber shops? The only ones that I know of are shops on main street in roal oak.
Ginevra
It's not anything specific, but there is Crazy Wisdom in downtown Ann Arbor. I can't go into that place with any amount of money; I WILL find a way to spend it. heh It's on Main Street, I believe, but it's been a while since I've been over in that area. Perhaps one of our resident A2 people could help us out? :smiling:
Fierce Critter
Fuch's in Ferndale (9 mile, somewhere between I-75 and Woodward) is a main source of herbs & candles for myself. They have a huge selection of oils, and a sprinkling of other Wiccan/herbalist goodies. Downriver, if it's still open, there's Cosmic Eye on Biddle in Wyandotte. GREAT prices on herbs. some nice trinkets, etc. Also downriver, if it's still open, is Penny Pincher on Dix in Lincoln Park. GREAT 2nd hand (and a sprinkling of new) vintage/punk/gothwear. Right next door is a Value Village (or is it Value World now?) Call all places before venturing out. I have been out of state for 3 years and any/all may be closed. www.switchboard.com for phone numbers.

We are thinking about coming down next week. Not exactly sure. But I need some herbs and I've been wanting to check out the Value World/Village. Fierce Critter
In case I was confusing, Penny Pincher doesn't have herbs - and CALL them. I've had several people suggest they might be closed or closing, but never got a confirmation. Cosmic Eye is in the same boat. They talked about closing for a while, then ended up staying open. Who knows today? GM - if you're serious about hitting up some downriver places, or even Fuch's, let me know - I would be VERY happy to help map things out for you. I still have a filing cabinet full of AAA Michigan area maps, and am the queen of Mapquest.
Ginevra
I searched on www.switchboard.com to dig up some information for myself about these locations as I live close to at least one of them. Unfortunately, the only one that I was able to bring up any information about was Cosmic Eye and it did contain the full listing with phone number, map, directions, address, etc. It could be that the others have met their demise already. There is Isle of Avalon? in Royal Oak. It's a little small but it's cozy enough. Last time I was there, they had only just moved to the location so her stock was sparse. You way want to confirm that they're fully moved now. If you're up to the drive and/or are going to be in the area, I would *highly* recommend Crazy Wisdom? It's an excellent store and if you decide to go, I would give yourself at least an hour or two for browsing. It's a two story store and half of the upstairs is an eatery with limited sandwiches and a wide variety of coffees and teas. They don't have herbs that I remember but they do have incense, candles and aromatherapy items. Edit: I was wrong about the sandwiches. After viewing Crazy Wisdom's menu, well, that reminded me that they're a vegetarian establishment. Edited February 8, 2005 by Ginevra
Fierce Critter
I need to find a better reference tool than switchboard, which is often incorrect. AOL's yellow pages came up with the following: Penny Pincher 12219 Dix Toledo Rd, Southgate, MI 734-281-8100 Indeed, I'm not coming up with anything for Fuch's at all, which saddens me. It was a fantastic source for true herbs, oils and the such. :(
gothicmom
Thanks Critter, I'll let you know. Right now everything is up in the air. Depends on when we get our taxes. The kids have Friday the 18th off so we are hoping to go then.

DisturbedMania
I drove by penny pincher's the other day and the sign wasn't the same but it seems that perhaps only the name/ownership has changed. I'll go inspect on one of my days off eventually.

Destroit
In the Void Ent. *ahem* Just accessories and local art (nearly everything is handmade locally, so it's not just a bunch of generic Hot Topic style stuff), before Christmas we are getting the tattooing/piercing portion of our company back up and running. February we are hoping to expand to clothing, steampunk, cyber-industrial, lolita, trad goth, scary rivithead stuff. So I guess like Hot Topic used to be back in the late 90s before they started selling Justin Bieber shirts and Hello Kitty wear :. Or like Noir Leather, but if Noir Leather were half the price. I guess right now we're more like The Cat's Meow, if anyone's an old enough bat to remember THAT Royal Oak relic. I'm STILL pissed off that I was broke at the time when they went out of business, I remember Raven made out like a fucking BANDIT for less than $50. Oh Yeah Baby! Now that I can hardly wait for! Hopefully your merchandise will fit within my budget. I like to see before I purchase which is difficult with online shopping. It's like paying for a blind date and having to settle with whatever shows up. Looking forward to making a visit.

Question...I received a 10% off coupon from you last year and I was waiting until February to visit your store for the expanded clothing line...just wondering is the coupon still good?
